Because of finding out who his original voice actor actually is, I’ll never be able to get Jarl Baalgruuf’s voice out of Osmund Saddler’s body.

I agree I may be rare but his voice was the only downfall for me. Other than that I actually like how he was portrayed in this game

His voice is lame in the remake.

​@@PodzhagitelIn the original, I always assumed he had to wait for the plagas to mature enough that Ashley would be entirely at his disposal. Because otherwise, she'd just instantly reveal the plot and expose Saddler. That's why I thought they had to keep her around as long as they could.

It’s like they did a flip around. In the original, we got more with Saddler, and less with Mendez. In the remake, it’s the opposite

they changed his backstory in the remake with Osmond following his family lineage who were leading the cult since their exile on the island by Salazar family.

​​@@Member_Of_the_Golden_Dawn you mean in OG RE4, when saddler dies at the hands of Leon, the Los Illuminados are still operating in 2014 during global bio terrorist attacks which means the Ganados are active, while in the Remake RE4, the Los Illuminados and the rest of Ganados are losing control and neural shock like seizures because of Saddler's death, so they're no longer under control themselves and eventually died, also remake Osmund Saddler is technically as dominant plaga species like hive mind.

Haven't played the game yet, but this Saddler gives me more cunning and theatrical Palpatine vibes, while the OG Saddler had a more bulky, powerful presence, even though he was completely overconfident.

Not sure about Voldemort specifically but the voice and performance capture are definitely giving Ralph Fiennes vibes

Speakin of : anyone ever noticed even in his "human" form,u cant see any indication hes wearing any footwear or even his feet? Like his robes are so long it covers everythin except his head/face and hands,i believe at this point if u remove saddlers robes,hes gonna b all tentacles,like at this point saddler and the plaga hivemind are one and the same,biologically inseparable,which would explain why saddler has white eyes instead of red or yellow or even his regular eye color like the other infected or his lieutenants

Nah, man. Quite the opposite. What makes a villain good if they meet the protagonist close the to the end of the third act? The OG had him interact more with leon. That made him more memorable.

I didn't felt his presence at all. Dude is forgetable as hell in the Remake. Salazar and krauser felt more like the actual villians than saddler

I've been reading up a bit on the actual lore behind Saddler and this is what I've found. Saddler was NOT a victim. In fact, he's actually the one who caused all of this in the first place. He was chief of research for bioweapons and came to the region a couple years before the game takes place specifically to find and weaponize the mythical Las Plagas (which at the time was only described in local folklore) in order to use it to dominate the world. He initially manipulated Salazar to gain access to the ruins in hopes of finding and excavating Las Plagas. After finding Las Plagas, he began experimenting on it to make it a better weapon. Saddler then infected Chief Mendez (who was also the village priest) and then used him to infect and convert his followers from Catholicism over to Saddler's cult. Saddler himself is infected with a subspecies of Las Plagas that he had engineered that makes him a dominant host that is completely free of mind control, while the villagers are infected with a subordinate species that allows a dominant host (like Saddler) to control them. So it would seem that Saddler is doing all of this of his own free will. Granted, this is based primarily on documents found in the original game. But unless they've completely rewritten the character's lore for the remake, then I don't see why this wouldn't still apply. I've skimmed through some of the documents found in the remake and have yet to find anything that contradicts the original backstory for Saddler (if anything, several of them also support this backstory).

@@darkstar7447 Yeah, I tried looking into other RU-vid videos for some Saddler lore. Apparently some of Osmund’s ancestors were leaders of Los Illuminados, worshippers of the Plagas “holy body” that were driven out of the village. When Osmund came, he was able to corrupt Mendez and Salazar (like the original) into his cult, even writing a faux-Bible for the Plagas. It’s messed up.

for me the remake Saddler is too one noted of a character which is "im a evil cult leader so i do evil things just because im written evil" , the OG Saddler ironically has more dimension in his speech and charisma (bantering jokes and insults with Leon) making the first time players always wary of Saddler actions because his portrayal seems alwas have something up in his sleeve which in turn making him more enjoyable and believable while the remake Saddler portrayal is too cartoony evil making his actions really predictable.

Saddler is definitely not a victim. He manipulated and brainwashed Salazar by guilt tripping him over the persecution his ancestors did against the Illuminados, so that Saddler could get his hands on the plaga. Saddler then experiments on the parasite to make it stronger, better and more effective. He also made a superior parasite for himself so that he could retain his cognitive abilities and control all other inferior parasites. He also brainwashes Chief Mendez and converts him into his cult. After experimentation with the plaga is finalized, Saddler infects himself then Salazar, Mendez and Krauser (who saddler lured into his cult by promising him true power). Saddler then proceeds to infect the poor unsuspecting villagers through Mendez who was their priest. This giving him total control and worship worthy of a god.

I always felt that Saddler killing Luis was what elevated him from fanatic, mematic, cult leader to legitimate threat. He was kinda laughable as a villain up to that point, but you finally see a fraction of his immense power and you actually fear him. Giving Krauser the Luis kill was disappointing cause Krauser, just like in the original didn't really have any development as a villain, but Saddler was an established presence that Leon had met and didn't take seriously enough.

About tht : saddlers plaga is artifically made,while the amber is the only naturally occurring dominant plaga,and its way more powerful than saddlers plaga,so the real "god" of the cult is the amber itself

@@TomBreezy In the original game Saddler is implied to be spanish. Los Illuminados is the name of his cult. In addition his strong connection with Salazar a Castilian royal. Did you even play the original resident evil 4 game. The kingdom of Castile is in Spain.

Lord Saddler is hinted as being Spanish in the original game. The setting, the name of his cult, his connection to Salazar. The accent he has in the original game. There is no way for you fans to argue against it. Lastly 75% of spanish words have Latin roots.
