My biggest fear with this remake was that the improved horror atmosphere would come at the cost of the original level of action, and we wouldn't have iconic battles like these with massive swarms of enemies. I'm so glad to see that that's all being preserved :')
Have you seen the cut edition of canceled re 4 gameplay and consept art ? the game look more different the the final version of re 4 the pre alpha re 4 game test projects looks like the classical re 3 gameplay
The village feels more claustrophobic, the villagers feel more crazed, and Leon seems even more screwed than ever. A wonderful remake. Pulse pounding just to watch gonna be terrifying to play.
And it also looks like the parasites have a larger role here, maybe ashley will become saddler's vessel and would end up being a boss like jill in re5.
Fr bro and if anyone that tries to argue how unrealistic that is probably haven’t played the originals. The ridiculousness of the old games were part of its charm 😂
It's impressive how they kept the more action-based spirit of the original, but also supplemented it with more horror elements in between. Great stuff.
@@qwerttzizzi The part before Leon reaches that basement. It's dark and very horror-like, nothing like the original. I'm thinking they've tried to make the sections between the fights give off that kind of feel.
This is an amazingly insane remake. They added new features for Leon like using your knife to perform executions, block chainsaw, breaking free from enemies, etc.
It seems like your knife has durability that can probably be repaired at merchants and can only be used to execute people or get out of grapples so many times. Cool change to the knife mechanics.
The original was one of my all time favourite games. Seeing how they maintained the character models of the old mobs and the sceneries. It looks amazing.
It's insane to see the Village again after soo many years. RE4 was the first RE game I've ever played and to see and recognize everything in much higher detail is just amazing!
The melee actions, the jumping off higher levels and use of the knife literally look so badass and yet still manage to preserve all the true vibes of the original 🔥
Expectations are satisfied beyond belief. They kept the melee, added counters, and they didn’t completely change aspects but instead improving them. This looks amazing!
This could Quite possibly be one of the best remakes ever. The devs actually care and are keeping what made the original amazing is so refreshing to see.
@@mindofvirtuoso3358 meanwhile we are still waiting for Re: verse despite being released with Village Edit. It was all there yet if they listened to us we would already be playing it
Remaking this game must have been nerve wracking, considering that RE4 is not only the best RE game, but also considered one of the best games ever made.
@@blazers4life994 The ending to three was ridiculous you’re telling me that this lady can pick up a rail gun that looks like it weighs more than a Chevy suburban and fire it to kill nemesis
So far this is showing all the right stuff - taking the original idea and expanding upon it without losing sight of what made the og so beloved. This feels like a labour of love.
@@balabanasireti we’ve already played it years ago. Now we’re gonna play it with a fresh coat of paint. It’s gonna be great just like the RE2 and RE3 remakes.
I've played the original throughout my whole conscious life and I've gotta say this looks like it's turned out to be what we've all expected. Gonna be great, in its own right.
@@l.benvenuto2003 you can do that one time then your Melee breaks Probably it makes sense to avoid so you can use it to finish zombies in close combat.
The village section is one of the most iconic locations in gaming imo. That section alone sold people on RE4 in the beginning when it first came out and helped it become the phenomenon that it was.
So far, the horror is perfectly embed with the action on this game. This is definitely leon after he had years training under the secret agent. Im so glad
The opening section certainly looks faithful to the original. I'm sure revisions will be introduced the further we get into the game. Really hope this team has the sensibility to understand what can be changed and what should remain the same. This is one of the great masterpieces of the industry and this team has it's work cut out for them.
This is legit the remake that everyone wants when it comes to their favorite game. So far this looks like a faithful recreation of a very beloved game.
@@cristhegr848 right lol. If you’re a true RE fan and have a hard time telling that RE4R isn’t going to be the best one, then there’s something wrong with you. Everything about the gameplay looks perfect. We all know the story is better as well. The villains are also way more interesting in this game. Village. Castle. And island, all in one game is pretty insane. Looks as though they’re actually sticking to the OG as much as possible. RE4R will be best, by far
@@rayromano6249 Of Course It Does. 5 & 6 Must Be Reimagined For The Sake Of The Lore And The Reputation Of The Franchise. Maybe Set Up RE9 With Our Old Friends Leon Chris And/Or Gil.
Already loving this game! The combat, the intensity, the claustrophobia, the reactiveness from enemies when they get shot. The horror aspect when getting surrounded by enemies and chased by Dr. Salvador, just really did it for me lol
3:39 Really appreciating how smooth this mini cutscene is directed at the beginning, when Leon closes the door and pushes his back to it with that camera movement
The shotgun recoil effects are amazing, the blast sound silences for a fraction the environments sounds, they are moving in the right direction like RE2 Remake
@@sandk7969 Less. The true immersion was in the original when you ONLY had the laser sight to aim with. Each gun had a different feel when aiming as well. You could tell by how calm or wildly your laser sight would sway. Crosshair by default just makes it easier.
The villager punching Leon in the back is funnier than it should be. Also, blocking the chainsaw with a knife? Nice to see this game retains a sense of humor.
Leons boulder punch. Imagine we get to hear a future RE villain tell tales of how Leon blocked a chainsaw with his knife like Heisenburg did with Chris lol.
Looks like an amazing remake that preserves and enhances the original gameplay mechanics and atmosphere of one of the greatest games of all time. I'll definitely play this.
Most people thought they would upgrade the horror to make it more like the first three, but instead they’re upping the horror and the action for this kind of hybrid. This looks awesome. Can’t wait.
The producer said that it's still a balance of action and horror and is similar to the original in that regard. They're focusing more on the horror aspect, while improving the action segments.
My guess is that the first ganado encounter isn't actually the first. Maybe Leon tried talking to him like in the original, shot him and thought he was dead. Then the encounter from the trailer.
This looks amazing. The original never had that run down decay feel to the town visuals, due to technical limitations, but I'm so glad to see this game come to life visually. The remake music is extra creepy too.
It didn’t have that run down feel because it wasn’t meant to. Leon even remarks that it would be a peaceful cozy village if it weren’t for the crazy ganados trying to kill him.
@@yakthekuza7296 yeah this doesn't seem like a bad game but artistically it seems way more intense and cinematic, while the original had a very calm atmosphere in general that made it creepy. This one looks like there's already something wrong going on with the village while the original had that contrast between calm and villagers trying to kill you. The first scene in this where you approach the house looks like an horror movie while the original wasn't until you entered the house. And it looks like the horror is more dramatic here while in the original it was more depressing and miserable.
Just noticed how the ganados have different grab animations. The first female ganado strangles Leon and the second male ganado tries putting his hand over Leon’s face! I’m excited to see what else they can do
I’m really glad they kept the action part intact with the remake. It was truly a game with absolutely horrifying things going on, and you’re just battling monsters in the middle of it. Very much what resident evil does best!
Being able to actually guard against Dr.Salvador is a game-changer. In the original, you absolutely had to avoid getting hit by him because it was instant death.
It was annoying dealing with him without any useful defense like the first remake where you have the digger, grenade, and taser which made it more bearable because it had more added locations then the original.
The knife is breaker (reference the re2 remake) probably use the knife in events importans the block attackd, stealth kill and liberation of hand of enemies
It's the same Capcom team who did the Resident Evil 2 Remake. The Resident Evil 3 Remake was made by a different Capcom team. Also Peter Fabiano is one of the reasons why the RE3 Remake has alot of cut content. He left Capcom after RE8 came out and has no involvement with the RE4 Remake. And now that he's gone Resident Evil will be great again.
Anyone else so hyped to be able to keep your knife? Rather than sticking an enemy and later recovering it or not. Absolutely incredible gameplay and tension. Cannot wait
Haven't been that excited in a while now... Great gameplay. Holy hell, Dead Space, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, The Callisto Protocol... That's gonna be a great console generation.
We're getting remakes of what most consider to be the best games in each respective horror series (Silent Hill 2, Resident Evil 4, and the first Dead Space) plus a new contender in Callisto. Can't wait to start playing and then suddenly quit in the middle of the game because i'm too scared lol
This remake trailer almost mirrors how they showcased the original. The village sequence is what made me want to play the GameCube version and now it’s making me want to play it again. The added dread and intensity is what I’m here for.
As a spaniard i'm seriously jumping from happiness to hear that this time they chose the correct Spanish variant for the enemies and characters. Since the game is located in Spain, where it sound different than the Latin American one
