I know I'm the minority with this opinion, but I really like Lily Gao as her voice actress. A lot of the time she sounds calm and collected but not to the point where she's robotic. It sounds to me like is Ada trying to keep all her emotions in as much as she can, especially after Raccoon City
Yes, she's almost always calm and collected when she's with Leon, other times too, but when she's around him she tries her best to not show her emotions. I love Lily Gao as her voice actress she is able to capture her essence very well.
I personally think Lily Gao did a good job. She is making Ada into a non native English speaker with some accent which I believe is more accurate for Ada character which a lots of RE fans seem to be forgotten. This will be useful if Capcom wanted to expend Ada background story. Did you all notice her tone is different when she speak with Leon vs speak with Wesker?
This dlc shows that Leon and Ada really are equals, their skills, their commitment, and their ability to withstand any crazy batshit monsters on their path. They really are made for each other, the only thing is… they’re on different sides.
@@mysteryace2129they nerfed the remake Ada to make her more “human” and realistic. The RE4 Ada was super OP as she left the island unharmed like??? Also in the original Krauser knew Ada or somewhat acquainted, they talked to each other and she was the one who finished him. In this version they seem don’t even acknowledge one another. The devs focus more about Leon and Krauser story so it make sense that he’s the one who killed Krauser. Many fans are angry that Ada didn’t fight him like the original but I prefer she fights with the new bosses more. She even helps Leon more than the original and even shows that she truly care and has feelings for him.
I love how much Separate Ways has humanised Ada. The entire part with Luis at the beginning! I never thought we'd see Ada dance. That monologue where she’s like ‘Because in this world, someone always pays. I understood that. Made my peace with it. Until that one night in Raccoon City… changed everything’ really shows how much she had hardened her heart in order to survive but how Leon’s kindness had affected her. The little eyebrow quirks when she meets the Merchant for the first time, how she said Leon’s name when she pointed that gun at Luis. So good. 25:10 where she stomped on the parasite with her killer heels and shot it, ooof that’s mother. Ada really cares about Leon so much with how she rang the bell in the beginning, stopped El Gigante from reaching them, hurriedly procuring ingredients for the suppressant whilst preparing him for the worst. She also had her finger directly on the trigger when she pointed her gun at Luis where she never intended to shoot Leon in their reunion. ALSO CALLING LEON 'GOOD BOY' TWICE AHHHHH. She also has such unwavering faith in him when she said he could handle things on his end and vice versa as well. When she said 'yeah you should' with so much sass after Leon said 'ah so you're not heartless afterall' after everything she was doing for him ahaha (yes, i know, he's justified in his anger towards her). I feel like she was already intending on betraying Wesker with his she said ‘that looks like something Wesker wants’. The way she faced off against Wesker without fear. I absolutely love the fact that Ada will go into full vengeance mode if anything happens to the people that she loves, how she became a cold, merciless killer when she saw that Krauser had killed Luis, damn. Also she meddled with the detonation! Gave Leon the jetski keys to escape even after she had offered him a ride. I just love how strong and capable they made Ada for Separate Ways and also fleshed out her character. Especially with all the spy gadgets, it really shows so well she'd be able to carry her own game.
@CocaCola66106 Took and refined the elements of the story. Ada is no longer the exaggerated seductress IE: A Jessica Rabbit that she was in OG RE4 but is now a cold heated Spy that has a warm heart of gold when the time comes and Leon helped spark it. The issue for why they can't be a thing, though, is that she is still too secretive and closed off. She admires Leon but can't say it as in order for her to express herself to him she has to get over the things she done in her life that yes helped her survive but still cost others their life. Leon can't fully trust someone who is mostly vague and Ada doesn't want to trust or rely on anyone for her life/survival as she doesn't want to be betrayed.
Luis went from npc character in the OG to become the best written character in the remake, he's like the heart that glued the characters and story perfectly, he easily became my favorite character and i wish he'd survive, capcom outdid themselves there 👏
I agree. He went from being a generic, one dimensional "ladies man" character with almost no personality, to being a complex and compelling character in the remake.
i loved him in the full remake, but this dlc has absolutely made him my fav. the opening scene dance deserves an oscar for how it’s staged and delivered… and his expressions and lines throughout the game are just so so charming! it’s almost impossible to not fall in love with him💔😩
And that is how Leon encountered Ada several times in the main game. It's good to have Leon's POV but Ada's POV made much sense since it covers nearly the events of the main game.
I feel like people don't give Lily Gao enough credit for her overall performance. Admittedly, I'm not the biggest fan of her voice performance (though I do think she sounds better in the DLC than the main game), but I think the motion capture for Ada is perfect. Ada's expressions are subtle, but the emotion is still there. It's very in-character for her. She's meant to come off as detached and apathetic, but occasionally you see the cracks in her facade. I feel like some people will dismiss it as Lily simply being unexpressive, but to me it feels like a conscious decision rather than bad acting. She found the perfect balance of being expressive enough that it doesn't feel stiff, but isn't overly expressive to the point that it's out of character.
I'm sorry, but no. It isn't very good, if you compare it to previous voices. RE2 remake was really good, and sure the DLC gave Lily a chance to showcase more. It stil isn't no where near as good as before. I get they wanted to cast a asian voice to portray her, which is fine. However, her voice and performance doesn't fit the character, at all. There is way too much dissonance to what her voice sounds and what she looks like and how she is supposed to talk. As an Asian American, who has female Asian American friends. My friends could read the script with no training or experience and sound more authentic to the Ada. Lily has the typical bland hollywood American Asian sound that is not a realistically common sound either. You could also just look up any of the hundreds of Asian American content creators and see how rare Lily's voce type actually is. I would even argue that many of these content creators could have done a better job too especially the ones that have experience or work in the voice acting field. I would speculate that this is part of the reason why Lily got trashed on for Ada, when many likely know of or can find better Asian American voices very easily.
@@yummychips_ Okay, but my original comment was talking about the motion capture and Ada’s facial expressions, not her voice performance. I’m not a fan of her voice performance either, which is something I stated in my original comment.
This DLC was 10/10. Loved the original separate ways but Capcom knocked it out of the park with this version. Ada and Luis' characters getting much more exploration was so refreshing for me. I'm still praying for a full blown Ada led game but with the fact that we got Separate Ways with Ada having an improved storyline/character arc and awsome gameplay (grapple hook melee, TY Capcom) has me very happy for now. Ada spin off tho plz? ... maybe vs Alex Wesker... IDK just gimme more Ada lol
Nah, they need to show Claire more love, so she should be the one to handle Alex Wesker like she did in Revelations 2. I'm also hoping they make a Code Veronica remake, because Claire and Chris and Wesker are all in it. (RIP Steve)
@@isthianthomas6386 Rip my king, fair point. TBH I was wishing for a CV remake before an RE4 remake, now to pray for capcom to give code veronica the love it deserves. Would be cool to see a revelations 3 where Claire has to go against her caring nature and take down Alex's current form. But yes please can we get a CV remake before Capom even look at RE5? It's so criminally overlooked. Still in this dream CV remake or Rev 3 I would like to see a lil Ada, she's just my queen lol
@seamusmoley7765 I would love for a twist where Alfred turns out to be alive, and teams up with Alex to take down Claire. They should make it like Sherry goes missing at the hands of Alfred and Alex, and make a game where Claire and Leon go to save her, only for Sherry to die by the end (adding to Claire's fucked up mental health) , and then make another game where her and Chris go to kill Ashford after her and Leon kill Alex in the previous installment, only for now Claire to die along with Alfred to ensure he doesn't come back, which would be great fuel for Chris in the current RE games to keep fighting bioterrorism, as now his only family left has died trying to stop it.
1:13:54 Not gonna lie, it took me a moment to realize the music is a callback to Ada’s “death” music from the OG Resident Evil 2. When I realized that, I nearly cried in excitement!
@@some_metalhead I just finished the DLC for the first time, and when this scene came on, as soon as the OST started, I immediately recognized it... this OST is from RE2 OG, when Ada dies in Leon B, I almost had tears in my eyes from nostalgia... How great it would have been if the RE2 remake had had that Leon B scene...
At least we get to see how Ada gets to the boat this time. In the original, that part was never explained and it always made me wonder. Small stuff but still.
everyone is so used to her being sexy and objectified and forgot the fact that she is supposed to be a cold, work oriented mysterious spy that has inner struggles(her feelings for Leon, her defiance for what she thinks is righteous, etc.)
1:12:07 This moment was interesting to me. She was already determined to help Leon, but I think she maybe still had an instinct to run and save herself, so seeing Ashley's dedication to wanting to save him because of how they bonded just affirmed her resolve. A small moment that had big meaning.
@disdeg1041 "A Leon that went through a horde of zombie/parasites, Giants, Verudo, and multiple regenerators, and Krauser." Wesker doesn't want that Leon smoke. Reason why he goes against Chris and Jill because of those two being hesitant on killing him since they have history. Leon letting those bullets fly as soon as Wesker starts monologing.
@@romylobo5698thank you for your reply. They said that she was also infected with the plaga, her symptoms were the same as Leon’s and Ashley’s but somewhat different. The plaga inside her body has connection with Sadler’s left hand man so when it dies, the plaga could not survive.
Maybe the plaga was in its early stage and cannot handle the drug so it died prematurely. Meanwhile, Leon and Ashley's have been cooking up inside them for a while, so it may not be that effective.
I’ve been wanting to see a DLC cutscenes for RE4 with Ada’s perspective and this definitely gave it to me. I’m so glad that Capcom chose to flesh Ada out and give her characterization. Also I love her interactions with Leon. They’re meant for each other and I’ve always shipped them.
When I first played SW (Remake), I thought in the final chapter, her infection was gonna resurface and she’d used the same machine as Leon and Ashley but I guess killing U-3 really cured her. Hence why she hacked out that little parasite 😖
By the time this dlc come around a lot of people should have gotten used to Ada voice by now. The voice is still the same as the main game but it sound natural here.
After playing Separate Ways, I think this DLC gave Lily Gao more of a chance to shine in her voice work as Ada. Overall, I think her voice work is fine. I wouldn’t call it amazing but far from bad. I can understand why some people were underwhelmed by her performance but what I genuinely don’t get are the people who sent her hate comments and even death threats all because of her performance. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but when their definition of criticism is sending disgusting comments, they don’t deserve anyone’s respect.
The red qipao dress should be an option, even it's impractical for her to do the covert mission in the dress, but it's a fantasy game that has big room of creativity and she should slay with the dress while doing all the impossible stunts.
Even though several leaks and rumors stated that Separate Ways was in the works, I still had my doubts. Well, this is one of the few times I wanted to be proven wrong and I’m more than happy that not only was Separate Ways happening but it turned out as great as it did! The biggest concern with remakes in general is cut content and I think all of us are happy that Separate Ways did not get cut! Granted, the content that remains cut from the original is the Assignment Ada mode but honestly, I never really cared for that mode so I’m okay if it never gets added as DLC for this remake. This remake is, in my opinion, the best RE remake to date and assuming RE5 remake is in the works based on the post credits scene, it’s gonna have some serious competition with RE4 Remake!
Yes! still get to see the scene where Leon just point-blank shoots Ramon lol not all of it but still we know what happens next but still hilarious lol Ada is not heartless and she now is doing this for Luis, he grew on her he re-woke the part of her that cares about lives and she actually came to care about him, such a nice detail the Remake Added to the Established Canon Lore already in RE. and we knew in OG RE Canon that wesker retrieved Krauser's body so nice to have Capcom confirm that in 4 Remake and Wesker's new VA really does a good job as Wesker
Yes and no sure he kept stalling due to the villagers and wanting to help Leon and Ashley but in the end he kept his promise to Ada by delivering the amber. It’s just like he told Ada he had to set things right due to the experiments he did under umbrella’s supervision.
Without Luis and his temporary cure, Ada would be killed by the U3. The temporary cure surpressed U3's ability to sense the infected Ada when the intense symptoms showed up in the castle and U3 lost her track there while it is almost about to kill her, only prevented by Luis' supressive medicine.
@@Seb_geek.9 I love how RE4R heavily implies that Luis was on the research team that created Nemesis. Say what you will about the remake of RE3, but I love how more connected it feels. Plus, there's a file in RE3R in the lab where a scientist is arguing why using parasites to control B.O.W.s is a bad idea because they're unstable.
All I want is another RE where Leon and Ada team up for a good period of time and are playable together in co-op. But also for them to finally bang because god knows they both need it.
Pretty sure that: - They bang a lot, generally speaking. - They got to bang each other at least once. We're the ones who need to have it spelled out for us, is all.
They lived with each other at a time between re4 and re6 they banged as well in one kf the movies ada says when are we gonna carry on from that other night
I don't care what anyone says about the voice actress. She does a good job voicing Ada and she's the baddest chick in the game. Ada is my kind of woman.
Ada finally got the perfect voice actress, mature, sensual and dominant instead of some 18 year old doing ara ara. Everything else is also just brilliant.
Gaos voice is a mature asian woman voice... its pretty typical voice tbh. i guess people that dont like it are blinded by nolstagia… but if you imagine the current design and characteristic of ada with the og voice, it clearly doesnt fit…
No she doesn't people just have to accept that she's a bad voice actor she constantly comes across as flat and bored it sounds like someone reading from a script
1:00:28 i like when she do the tongue thing while thinking. kinda reminds me that this version of ada sometimes come across a trouble and need a little bit of timeout unlike the previous version
I’m glad this gave Lily a bit more to work with. It took a minute but she’s not half bad. ❤ proud of this release so far. Edit: I finished the DLC and I must say that I do appreciate her on a more different take. Throughout her arc, she’s conflicted in multiple ways to proceed with her mission with Wesker or help Leon, Luis, and Ashley. Even though she’s strictly about completing her mission, she became a liability by involving herself a little with the other character counterparts that resulted in her defying her own morality. I’d say even when she sounds flat, she sounds as if she’s just about finishing her mission, but her curiosity and sense of a moral compass pushes her to do the right thing. In the end, she did… Lily has better range in this. She’s very different. She’s not perfect, but with more development, she could be very well respected in her role as Ada.
I'm guessing he had Ada do the primary mission of the getting the amber from Luis because it's the best source of a sample. In the meantime, he was searching for backup samples in case Ada failed and later came across Krauser after Leon killed him.
This DLC is badass and I’m liking this new Wesker more, yes I love the original Wesker. We get to see a new mutant we never seen in resident evil 4 or the dlc of Ada part. We never got to see the El Gigante fighting Ada when she comes to Luis, Leon, and Ashley, in the DLC. Lots of different scenes in the DLC. Even we don’t fight Krauser in the DLC because in the original you fight him in the end. And we actually get to see how Wesker got the sample, by getting Krauser dead body. And we never seen Ada getting infected before, unless she did in the original, because it been awhile I play the original dlc. Plus we now we considered the black robe, Verdugo the “It”, at least they got the It in the DLC.
Here me out... Antonio Banderas voicing Luis would have been not just iconic, but absolutely fitting! Plus, it would have totally reignited my undying love for Antonio Banderas after I lost it when he voiced puss In boots! Lol!
Yes sir, this week hopefully we have some time to put it together. Want to do it in Chronological order of course. But might not be until next week as Cyberpunk and the Sonic DLC will take a lot of the week
Wait, did Lily actually performed better here than in the main game 😮 her voice here actually fits Ada now imo. Guess the backlash got her to work better at voice acting 😅 good for her ❤ this is a great improvement 👍
I thought some parts that were for Leon in the old one were completely gone, instead they just gave it to ada? Like that giant scorpion looking monster was against Leon in a bunch of hanging containers before and the laser room. 🤔, It was nice 👍
11:24 As someone play re4 alot when I was a kid, fighting with chainsaw man is really scaryy. I will run with shotgun untill the bell from the church ring. This explain everything 😭
Kinda hard to take Sadler serious when he looks like he's half choking on an orange nerf ball, then a giant basketball. Crouser and Wesker sound like they are winded when they talk.
1:14:18 This damn deep music was played in one of the earliest versions of the game when Ada was injured in Leon's arms. As the music gets louder, you feel weird, it's a little painful
I truly think this voice fits ada better, you'll be surprised a lot of asians adult women sounds just like her, my only complaint is that her voice lack tone, all abit flat, her face also lack emotion, but maybe this is deliberate to show that she's always calm in any situation, always in control.
23:50 the el gigante appearance in separate ways remake kinda gives me chill. It seems that that el gigante was actually targeted to leon & luis until it sees ada. Also, Ada is truly a spiderwoman here 24.51 .
