That game was re-released on next-gen twice and still holds up. I'm gonna strongly disagree with you for several reasons - 1.) This is small, but look at the new Resident Evil font they used for the remakes with the highlighted red letters. It's obvious that this is an entirely new continuity from all previous RE games leading into RE7. 2.) As great as the 02 remake is, it's extremely dated. The campy/ cheesy dialogue doesn't feel connected to the new remakes whatsoever. The new games are far more grounded, with better dialogue, and far superior character development. Seriously, go play these games in chronological order and tell me that the 02 game feels like it's set in the same universe/timeline as the others🤷 3.) As much as I love & respect the 02 remake - it has an abundantly obvious & annoying plot hole that has never been rectified - you cannot achieve an ending where all 5 STARS members escape together. It's either Barry or Rebecca & that alone is reason to go back and breathe new life into the first entry. Furthermore - when Rebecca finds Chris, she acts entirely clueless to what's happening even though she just experienced everything that happened in Zero. There's more than one reason to go back to the beginning and remake 1 again. And for people like you that are so emotionally attached to the 02 remake - it's still there. It's not going anywhere. If you prefer that game, you can always play that one instead 👍 Personally, I think the game that started it all & the atmosphere of the Spencer Mansion deserves the next-gen treatment. It deserves to be explored again with better writing, better voice acting, and more in-depth storytelling. Chris & Wesker's rivalry starts in 1, gets further explored in CV, then comes to a climactic end in 5. Would you rather then go directly into 5 where Wesker's story ends? I'd call that pretty bittersweet considering he JUST got revealed in full next-gen glory. But hey, to each their own.

​@NerdSpaceGames That actually tracks because (I think) Remakes 2, 3, and 4 were all part of a single development decision and cycle, but RE5 wasn't. So even if Rem5ke is a thing, it makes sense development wouldn't even start until at least Rem4ke and perhaps even RE9 release.

Yeah, particularly given how unpopular RE0 is in comparison. It really only makes sense to remake RE0 if there’s an RE1 remake. RE0 is basically a spinoff of RE1. It’d be like remaking 3 without 2.

It’s the next best step for Capcom as they could make a Chris vs Wesker trilogy out of: Resident Evil 1 remake, Resident Evil CV remake, and Resident Evil 5 remake.

Me too, although I would prefer RE1 first. I think CV would be 10x better if we had Chris and Wesker established first, we already have RE2 remake so the Claire face/character model is firmly established.

Personally i wouldnt mind if they put a hold on the stories progression and remake all their old games. Pretty sure i feel like it would be best to stop making remakes at 5. 6 might be too new in terms of graphics to try to improve upon and make a remake for.

What I just heard is basically “please give me product, I will consume product. I don’t have standards because I’m a good, obedient consumer. Please just give me anything…please please please! Unreal. It’s people like you that are the reason why a lot of major game developers put out anything without making it a good game. Because they know people like you are very abundant and plentiful because of constant conditioning…have some standards.

3rd person RE1 Remake is a necessity

I mean he did say it could come in late 2025, he just said it’s not coming in January anymore. Either way, I expect a 2025 release regardless of what anybody tells me outside of Capcom themselves.

Totally understand where you’re coming from, but I guess my thought process is that they are 3 for 4 on remakes (if you count 2002 RE1 remake). Giving up on them after one bad remake isn’t something I’m willing to do yet despite the cut content in 3 remake

And it’s weird. I love the games but it’s taking an established story and just saying everyone already knows what happens anyway so there’s no rush on chronological events fore the re-verse story line
