For how much effort's clearly gone into each and every one of these retrospectives, they are not getting the love that they ought to. These vids are gems that need to be seen by more people. I just sat here and binged them all in one huge sitting, and despite having never played an RE game myself I had a blast watching along!
Say what you will about this game, but it by far has the best, most scary, most violent non-Nemesis Tyrant in the series. Hypnos is terrifying looking.
So, theoretically speaking, "Vincent" is the most powerful re protagonist, from the sheer amount of tyrants and super mutants that he's killed with basic weaponry.
It sucks this does not have this many view i am not even a fan of this game series but I really like your videos and your art i wish you the best of luck.
You mention the performance for this game and it's not surprising that it gets to be terrible at times. The models on the zombies were created in an environment assumed the background would all just be an image. Because, up until now, all RE games had pre-rendered backgrounds, so that's essentially what it was. The game was just a series of paintings you played through really. But now the environments are rendered in 3D, which is now taxing the hardware harder than what these models were accounting for. The first person also kind of ruins the zombies. They worked fine from a 3rd person angle, like someone was watching the action from further away. But now that everything is right in your face, you can kind of see that there's a lot here that the developers never really anticipated a player would be able to see. You can tell Survivor was a game made on the cheap. Not only was Tose involved, so not even Capcom themselves handled most of the development, pretty much all the zombies are just recycled from past games. Which wasn't the case in the other games. The zombies got a major redesign from RE1 to 2, not only improving quality on the models but also allowing for more of them to appear on screen (how many times were you in a room with more than 3 zombies in RE1? How many times in RE2?) And 3 added even more variety, since in RE2, you were mostly in a police station/lab but the 3rd game took you out into Raccoon city itself, a place you were only just casually placed in at the very beginning in RE2.

Saw you on Twitter I guess as a suggestion for a pony Twitter earlier, and read about your retrospectives. Decided to watch literally all of them in 1 day lmao. I've gotta say the were all great, and I can't wait to see more. I've suggested your retrospectives to a few friends who don't like pony stuff as much just so they'd actually check you out. Legitimately dude these videos have been great! I enjoy listening about the history of the games (even if brief sometimes) and just learning more about them than I may have previously known, and also just getting a refresher on the story. Again can't wait for more of the games, and Code Veronica will be the 1st one you do that I've not played myself, and yes I've sadly played the mess that is a survivor, I was a dumb kid who thought it was going to be a lot cooler than it was. Keep up the great work! Also I like the Reese's Puffs Lyra video you made as well haha. Though I enjoy longform essay type content the most, it's perfect for when I'm exercising, driving, or drawing.
Given the fact that this game came out AFTER Code Veronica did, its crazy Capcom didnt put it on the Dreamcast where lightgun games were better and probably would have escaped the reason why it was taken out in the US version. But I get why they did it cuz they just took all the assets from older RE games and such....except I feel they could have done that with Code Veronica instead.
My friends and I came up with a much better ending back in the day: Arc: "I don't know. But don't worry, we can fly as long as we have fuel." *A fuel light begins beeping on the dashboard and Arc looks out of the window to see the tyrant's severed claw stuck in the fuel tank* Arc: "Aargh, we're all gonna die!" *The helicopter plummets to the ground and the credits roll*

This game was super influential back then Journalists would come to love Ark Thompson's work so much they would only be able to play easy games. It really is funny how we don't really think of Capcom as "That company that makes really, REALLY hard games", but its so easy to tell when their real studios aren't involved.
There was this game I found called "parasite eve" but it's not owned by Capcom. Except for Dino Crisis, that game was owned by Capcom. It's also inspired from resident evil because it was actually created by it. Parasite eve is like resident evil, but not similar to it.
I remember finding out about the Survivor games way back when the internet first became popular on a RE fan site (fun fact: still have my dumbass child-made email made specifically to access said site) and I thought they sounded *SO* cool. I had no idea how I never even heard of them or Gaiden considering how much of a mega fan I was. Little did I know... 😅😂
I had the game and the gun con it wasn't that bad experience but it was a bit boring although if anyone should see it in a shop they should experience it for theirselves if they're interested😎
I was lucky and had a GCon45 before getting a copy of this game, and yes while it is kinda terrible it's also very nostalgic, and I've made games based on my memory of this 😅, gimme gun D haha
I passed it up because it was one of those $20 Wal-Mart games that nobody bought. Many years later I was tinkering with an Anbernic RG351P, so I decided to try it. As a handheld game with rumble, it was pretty fun! But there's no way I could have tolerated it amongst my Evil Trinity collection. Luckily I went straight to Code Veronica and quit playing RE after five minutes of trying Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube... Now that was some BullShit!
