Solid ranking order. Tho in my honest opinion 5 was miles better than 6! Mostly because the co-op at the time was amazing and offered great replay value.
Fair point! It was quite difficult to actually choose where to put stuff other than Resi 3 Remake which was always going to come last. Every other game has lots of great things about them. I agree that Resi 5 is a better game to actually play than 6. But I like the survival horror moments that 6 had 😊
Being better than 6 isn’t saying much lol.. it’s the most hated game in the franchise. It’s a terrible RE game, however if the RE title wasn’t attached to the game it would be loved as a great action coop game
Agree with the coop thing! Also re0 has such a special place in my heart. Grew up reading the series of books by SD Perry. Zero was such a fantastic game after I had read the books. If you are a die hard fan, read em!

Beyond that too this is just an awesome review! I hope it gets tons of views, man, I'm glad this one got recommended to me!! I like how in every game, even for how much you dislike them, there's a clear love for the franchise. A lot of reviewers these days don't really have that

I'm also glad my respect for the franchise came through. I can genuinely find positives in all the games, even the ones I'm less fond of, but also wanted to approach this with a 'critic' mindset as well. Hopefully got the balance right. For me The closest ones to perfect 1. RE4R 2. RE2R 3. RE1R Some of my favourites but they have flaws that keep it from the top tier 4. RE5 5. RECV 6. RE8 Village 7. RE3:Nemesis 8. RE4 Good 9. RE3 Remake (what's there is good but it's missing the clocktower, the park, uptown and the live selections) 10. RE7 (3rd act is the weakest in the franchise imo) Decent but could have been better (with revelations it's a budget issue) 11. Revelations 1 12. Revelations 2 13. RE0 Don't like 14. RE6 Currently playing through the original 2 games. So can't rank them yet. My 2 favourites and my 2 least favourites are pretty set in stone while the rest of the list changes around sometimes.

I loved re2 and re3 nemesis when I was a kid. Replayed each multiple times for different reasons; re2 had four scenarios and re3 nemesis had choices which change outcomes. Both were enjoyable in their own right. If only I could play both ok my Xbox series x Back when re6 was released it looked sh!t and played the demo which confirmed this so moved on. Keep hearing and seeing videos that my feelings were spot on
Resi 6 is not good when compared to the original games, or their modern counterparts (except 3 remake). Only a handful of minor things kept it above 5 as well. Thanks for commenting!

RE 2 Remake (the OG was the first I'd seen being played in the series and playing the remake for myself was a big deal. One of the greatest horror games of all time that again, nails the atmosphere) 1. RE4 Remake / Original (what can I say that hasn't been said already??? The remake lifed up to the expectations... OG and REMAKE are 👑) Haven't played RE1, RE2, RE3 originals or Code Veronica fully but seen many clips and gameplay and knew the stories. Also watched my big bro play the old ones when I was a kid and they scared the shit out of me lol I want a Code Veronica remake badly 🤞 and hoping for 5 and 6 remakes that fix the issues those games had

I'm very tempted to play the OG trilogy and Code Veronica but I'm afraid that my expectations won't match the legends that they are, I view those through "rose tinted glasses" from childhood as being too terrifying to play 😂 and would like to to keep that perspective if that makes sense lol I know that's a bit shallow. I have nostalgia for MGS1 and love it because I played it back in the day and it's still legendary to me even with the dated graphics and gameplay but aside from seeing my brother playing parts of the OG RE trilogy back in the day, the nostalgia of experiencing them with the controller in my hands just isn't there for me 🤷♂️ I'm probably missing out 🤦♂️

while i do think that re3s remake was disappointing, i think it was still crafted with a lot of love the same way re2 and 4s remakes were. its a shame that the decisions made were step downs from the original, but i still have a great time playing it (despite how unfortunately short it is)
That's fair enough. I think my dislike for it is quite personal... with the original being the first Resi I ever played the nostalgia made me crave the remake and I just felt so deflated when it came out. "love" when all support for it was dead on arrival, missing multiple areas of the game, fight or flight response to Nemesis was completely removed and so was literally every puzzle in the game that could be considered one. Not to mention downgrades from RE2r which literally comes right before it. It's literally resident evil for people who hate everything about resident evil.
I'd pick the gamecube remake of resident evil over the hd upgrade only because of the impact it made its the standard bearer of all resident evil remakes.
Honestly solid video. Reminds me of old RU-vid videos. I’ve only played the remake games and 3 was definitely the weakest but it was still fun. RE4 though has had me trapped for days. I’ve spent like over 50 hours and beat it like 6 times and am doing another run for S+. It deserves game of the year for sure

My favourite re game is definitely re4 I just finished it a couple of days ago and completed everything the game had to offer (this was the first time I ever played it and before this I had only played the classic re titles I am new to the franchise btw) and I loved how it balanced the horror and action and the fact I no longer had to struggle with tank controls and camera angles they really went all out and even though I never played re5 and re6 it seems like they wanted to make the lightning strike twice with these two anyway I really liked the video looking forward to more!

My biggest problem is that. RE1 Remake - is a remake. RE4 Remake - is a remake. Why is RE2 and RE3 couldn't be remakes ? I don't want any Reimagined games that has nothing to do with the originals. I just don't understand why would they do this. but i guess, they think that it's old, and many people won't like it. But I don't want that, i don't wan't a mass product that is digested for me, and presented to me as a comfort food. Oh well, at least there's Signalis that actually is a really good og RE game. You should check it out.
Ok I’m sorry but I don’t understand how you can shit on 8 for giving you the option to expand your inventory system with the currency when 4 does the same thing and you praise it. It just seems a little hypocritical, but I wouldn’t mind hearing you elaborate on it. Maybe I’m missing something?
Fair comment, to me it just felt a bit quicker and easier to do in 8 than in 4. In the 4 remake I felt I genuinely needed it at that moment, whereas 8 it just felt like the option was there a bit too early. But perhaps its me being a bit biased towards 4 as I just prefer it overall!
@@TheWintersGate I think that’s a fair statement. When it came to progression in 8 I never felt like I was running out of space in my inventory. Even when I was getting new weapons that took a chunk of area I was still able to hold enough resources and buy more space without worrying about inventory management. Whereas 4 I felt like I was constantly managing my inventory even after I kept increasing my space. I think that’s because 8 doesn’t carry crafting materials in the case, but a completely different inventory space.
2R, 4R, 3R, Revelations, and then 7 for me. Village just doesn't feel like a resident evil. Who thought adding vampires and warewolves would be a good thing? The gameplay is good but it's an abomination of a RE title.
I agree it doesn't feel like Resident Evil, but I do think the vampires, werewolves etc were cool. I liked the creatures more than I thought I would. Thanks for the comment!
I have a few problems with RE8 such as the overly generous amount of ammo and inventory space you get, the questionable dialogue at times, some issues with the plot that make little sense, the overpowered weapons you receive etc. But I thought the enemy designs were pretty cool. RE7 is my favourite in the series but the Molded were quite a strange addition to the franchise too, though it did have a more grounded modern day setting rather than some 1800’s Castle.

For me i just dont accept 7 and 8 as re games. So they are last in my rankings. 8,7,6,5,0,3re,1re,2re,4re i also just prefer the remakes than the ogs so yeah
i love classic RE more personally, so I rank the old games higher in my list. I've played enough Call of Duty to know a Michael Bay ripoff when I see one, and that's how I feel about RE5 and RE6. There's almost no reason for me to play those. But the original RE games from RE1, RE2 & RE3: Nemesis; they truly are the quintessential survival horror games and combined with great escape-room-like puzzles, and iconic characters like Leon, Billy, Rebecca, Jill, the Redfields, Wesker, Nemesis, Birkin, etc. that's what makes Resident Evil so great imo.
The reason I love Village despite the linearity and service level exploration and "puzzle solving" is two things: (I'm talking gameplay, story I won't go into) It never outstays its welcome for me. You see I was playing this game that was recently added to gamepass called Ghostwire tokyo...and I... didn't like it. It had the same issue as village where the combat and exploration was very shallow but it was also 15 hours long. Village is like 5 to 6-ish hours long in replays and the game throws SO much at you from side quests, treasure hunting in every nook and cranny of village factory and castle that you're always distracted by something...it gives you the illusion of nonlinearity in every lord's level (well lady d and H factory) tho it's extremely linear but since you know what to do go it goes by really fast. In a way I always get in the zone playing this game cause I feel like a speedrunner going through it something that I can't say about most REs I play. Other factor is the Village itself...I adore it It's not just pretty...it feels so lived in and cosy that I swear even on my 10th playthrough I thought it was still a Joy to explore specially when they added a lot of secret areas that are optional to explore. So while one of the least mechanically engaging and one of the most weirdly paced RE games I've played I've come to really like it even more so then games that are objectively miles better like 2R and 4R

The thing about RE3 remake that bothers me the most is that... it had the most to gain from added content and yet it suffered from the most removed content out of all the remakes. It should have been the most incredibly open world RE game to date, yet somehow, there's less linearity in RE4 Remake which is a game that didn't even need the backtracking but added it anyways to improve the product. How do you take the most ICONIC zombie location in all of zombie history, Raccoon City, and not expand it fully into a huge town? Even the intro to RE2 Remake was completely dumbed down and removed that sense of need for shelter... the shelter that turned to ashes in your mouth when you realized the police station was no sanctuary. And having Carlos appear immediately at the start of the game took away from the shock and awe of finding ANYONE else alive, as much of RE3 original had you completely isolated in a dead town as the only survivor. And again RE4 Remake added stealth, which would have made such a huge impact if it was in RE3 Remake. Hiding from Nemesis would have made for absolutely riveting gameplay. It's horribly depressing that the intro sequence of the game had the best looking Raccoon City locations and yet you essentially just run through them with no combat between 20 different segmented cutscenes. All of Uptown being turned into a cutscene/walking simulator was just... well it pretty much ruined what could have been my favorite game ever made. Jill searching people's apartments and storefront as Nemesis prowled the rainy streets of Raccoon City would have been absolutely the greatest ZOMBIE game ever made. The streets filled with hordes of zombies, shaded by skyscrapers, with lickers climbing alongside buildings and the sounds of the dead hanging on the air... even a day/night cycle would have been amazing to add, depending on how long the player was taking. These things would have all made sense within the limits of the story. But instead we got essentially an arcade mode of RE2 Remake with 3 streets, barricades blocking off what could have been non-linear sections (like to Stagla Gas Station and Kendo's shop which really didn't need to blocked off), and finally completely cut sections and boss fights with some of the worst writing in the series. It's obvious they changed things last minute, like how they look for Bard at the police station for no reason only to find a message of him that would conveniently place him at the exact hospital Jill needed to be treated at later. I have a video on RE3's cut content, you should check it out.
Thanks for the insight, really great points. Couldn't agree more - it feels like RE3 remake was SUCH a missed opportunity and that's why it's such a crushing disappointment. 'Arcade mode Resident Evil' is a great description. If they just did the same thing with Nemesis as they did with the Tyrant in RE2 (following you round) for longer than a 10 minute section and then faithfully recreated key environments from the original RE3 with an expanded, open world element, it would have been incredible. The police station was even worse, because it was just rinse and repeat from RE2 remake. Sure, you went back to the RPD in the original RE3 Nemesis too, but the difference was, you felt it was a relatively safe and familiar place, until the Nemesis randomly smashed through the window and could actually chase you through doors. Totally different experience of the same location. The only difference in RE3 remake is that...you play as Carlos not Jill. Great. I think you're right that they probably changed things last minute, its so obvious the game was rushed out to capitalise on the success of RE2. Really poor form from Capcom / whoever led the project. Great ranking! Even tho I disagree with a few placements your in-depth analysis of each game is really intresting and even made me wonder at points if maybe my views over some of them have changed.

The ones I played: 1. Resident Evil 4 Remake - one of the 5 best games ever made. Perfection in every way. 2. Resident Evil Village - I love this game. The atmosphere is so good. 3. Resident Evil 2 Remake - absolutely amazing game with great graphics, story and thrills 4. Resident Evil Zero - Yes I do love Rebecca and yes I do love the atmosphere. 5. Resident Evil 7 - creepy and original 6. Resident Evil Remaster - the gem that started it all 7. Resident Evil 5 - fun ride 8. Resident Evil 3 remake - cut short, but solid enough 9. The main difference I have with the ranking is that I would put re6 at the bottom, and bump re5 and RE3 remake up a spot. Jake’s campaign was so much of a downgrade from Chris and Leon that I had to put the game down, and I never ended up finishing re6
Great list, Resident 1 Remake is the perfect survival horror game. And the best version of Jill. As for Resident Evil 8, yes, I agree with the whole castle being disappointing. I wanted to explore it, but it felt rushed. And I hated the whole Chris section at the end of the game.
Agreed on Resi 1! The castle in Resi 8 was a wasted opportunity indeed. Every time you really felt like you might be able to wander around properly you were whisked away to another area via a cutscene. I didn't mind playing as Chris but that was because I wasn't fully invested in the game due to its flaws and I appreciated the chance to just do a bit of mindless shooting. Thanks for commenting!
I loved RE5. Me and a friend co-op the whole game and got S rank in every chapter at every difficulty and platniumed that game. It was insanly fun. But I agree, it wasn't particulary scary

Only reason 6 is better than 5 is cause it looked like the game wasn’t trying to be too serious by the end just throwing you into hell and back RE5 tried to play the “WOAH SO COOL ACTION ROLE GUY SNAP NECKS PUNCH ROCK IN VOLCANO” like it tried too hard to be serious but once I say the “chainsaw” dude in jake’s story I shit myself laughing because that was the funniest goofiest dumbest things I’ve ever seen and to experience it with a friend makes the game 10 times better

I cannot fucking believe 7 isn't #1 let alone top 3. Most horrifying game of the series and easily the best imo. 8 i can kind of see being lower, maybe top 5, but damn. Top 3 should go like 7, re4 remake, re2 remake, Village, 4, Code Veronica, 0, 3/2, 3/2, 1 remake, 1, 6.
Solid ranking though I’m over the whole “RE1 remake is the perfect remake” bit. The fixed camera angles kill it, they never should’ve kept it, otherwise it’d be far superior. I would play any of the RE engine games over this one 🤷🏻♂️ times are changing, you need to adapt. Fixed camera angles are dead.
i always find RE gameplay very interesting and very varied in some ways but when im actually try to play these games im always very very afraid to continue playing dont know maybe its a childhood or something else and thank you for the great ranking of this games enjoyed it a lot

God re 3 remake never ceases to disappoint me though I always get a kick out of the scripted chase up the burning building with nemesis screaming stars and the ost as you battle him. Re5 was my first resi game as well as my first horror game so it will always be my favourite. Great list man

I remember that parts of the RPD in RE2 remake were destroyed and I thought that it was teasing Nemesis. It was lame when he didn’t show up at the police station at all in re3 remake.

I agree with RE3: Nemesis being the best one. I played it back then (90's kid here) and it was a big deal. Nemesis making a hole on that man's head, killing him THAT way... The game tells you rightaway that "you are not safe".
Fellow 90s kid, love it. Definitely, the introduction to the Nemesis was handled so much better in the original, it was ominous hearing the rumours about ‘something’ being out there, then bam. He appears and you know you’re in trouble. Approaching the RPD in every playthrough was then terrifying. It’s such a basic but effective trick, I can’t believe they screwed it in the remake.

Finally someone who doesn’t rank RE8 the greatest. I’m sorry but RE8 is easily the most overrated game of the series after playing RE4R it kind of shits all over that one. I know you can’t compare cause there different but RE7 was a much better game.
Similarities between the two, in fairness. I think RE8 was quite heavily inspired by RE4. It's funny, looking back, it was almost a 'teaser' for the RE4 remake coming along. But I totally agree, RE8 isn't nearly as good as RE7. Thanks for the comment!
Ok the thumbnail is misleading. Nice videomontage and good review for RE 5 and 6 allthough i would add that while Leons scenario had more horror elements from previous games, Sherry Birkin/Jakes scenario had that stalker element also from previous games
Very true on the stalker element, they were all scripted sequences though but agree that it was nice they put it in, getting chased by a single enemy was cool especially as he showed up in the other campaigns too. Thanks for commenting!

Hey, someone else who prefers RE7 over RE8. It seems to be a pretty rare opinion I feel like, but I just wasn't a fan of 8's focus on action compared to 7's focus on survival horror
Totally agree. I felt the FPS approach worked better in the slow paced, smaller, creepy Baker estate. Back to basics and a 'less is more' approach, rather than 8 which went back to, OK let's just cram loads of stuff in and hope it all works. Thanks for commenting.

@@TheWintersGate Yeah. I've always viewed it as the real resident evil 3. It feels like the true sequel to resident evil 2. I really hope Capcom gives Code Veronica the remake treatment. It has so much potential.
I'm glad someone said this before I went mad in the comments. Code Veronica was initially supposed to be re3. First re game to have 3d backgrounds and to this day is one of if not the hardest re game in the franchise. This is my #2 fave. Re2 remake takes #1 for me

RE3 remake the worst abomination and unworthy game never existed. I'm agree with you about experience similar to re6. I add re6+ re2r +TLOU (little bit) to make it . big city filled with monsters , included an outraged nemesis pursuing you , and take other ways to achieve those items you required for the game avoiding nemesis. feel him walking seeking you and you hiding from him Man! that would be awesome. a real re3 experience. Re5 - re4 with steroids. re6 - the most ambitous and boring game. re4 with +++steroids Village - A childish version of Silent hill mixed with Harry Potter deadly hallows Re zero - I like the old school game playingness but bothers me the japanese idiosyncrasy of final fantasy. A b.o.w made by leechs singing in the peak of a mountain who can take human form? man its too much, it could be poetry for them , but its far for a prequel of re1. re7 - after 24 years making money with zombies, nice fresh air breath for capcom re4 - i hate it but i can't deny its the most amusing game of the franquise, You want a game. play re4, capcom's box office original trilogy - re1 re3 . re2 for me its a prototype of re3, but considered for many people the best re. i dont agree. re2 remake - the capcom's favourite. they dissectioned re3 original to make re2r great. (mercenaries , frightening t -003, gas station) re1 remake - after all the game who begins everything and the same time hated by capcom, why? after 4 games chris have their own game in re5 . After re2 they try to make a game in a year ,without expectations, and make a wonder. if they could accept jill valentine (and chris) are the face of the franquise. re3 remake it would be unforgettable. pd: when you play re4r compare the battle with salazar with nemesis last form re3 original

I’ve only played re7 8 and 2 remake and 4 remake been trying to get into the series more by getting the older games what one should I get resident evil 3 original or resident evil 1 remake ik the story for most of the games except 6 but I’m probably not gonna get 6 or 5 just doesn’t seem like my kinda game too much action imo for a survival horror
I’d definitely get RE1 remake, perfect blend of the classic style of the games but with modern graphics etc. Also Resident Evil 3 original, if you can track it down and have the means to play it, because it is just so much better than the remake!
Idc how much content was cut from 3 remake, it’s still a better resident evil game than 5 & 6. Those games had way too much action. Call of duty had its influence all over those 2 games. For me those are easily the worst of the main line.
Valid point of view right there. I think taken as a standalone game, RE3 is alright. Its when you compare it to the original that it is just so poor given the potential of what it could have been. But I agree the next weakest are definitely 5 and 6. Thanks for commenting!
I've been a fan of re since my mom let me rent the first one at blockbusters as a kid I've played em all except remake 3 and remake 4 and 7 and 8 I'm going to tell you re 6 is actually a good game they just messed it up with Jake didn't like the character at all but Leon's story should of been the entire game it would easily be top 3 then

My REs ranked are: 1) Re1 Remake 2) Re4 Remake 3) Re2 4) Re2 Remake 5) Re4 6) Re3 Nemesis 7) Re Revelations 2 8) Re7 9) Re5 10) Re Code Veronica 11) Re Revelations 1 12) Re6 13) Re3 Remake I never played Re0 or Re8. I've seen my friend play Re0. I watched multiple people play Re8, and like you said they just give you everything😂
Thanks for the comment! Also a solid list right there. I played both Revelations 1 and 2, and thought they were pretty good, they’d probably be around midway in the list. I might even cover them at some point. Code Veronica potentially too. RE 4 remake looks incredible, it deserves its own video though 😆 I’ll get to it eventually but have a few other projects in mind first.

Damn, a great neutral breakdown of every game with the pros and cons listed. Solid ranking overall and I'm super pleased that RE1R is the number one. I can't see a Resident Evil game ever topping it, it is perfect from start to finish, but RE4 OG definitely comes close. Great video
Thanks for the comment! Relatively easy to be neutral because I love all the games really (except RE3 remake) but can definitely understand their flaws and why people prefer some over others. RE1 definitely tops it for me, has everything a Resi needs. I've nearly finished RE4 remake and I've been pretty impressed with it to be honest as well.

After beating re3 remake 10 times, I'm still trying to play it on hard difficulties to see if I really like or not this game. At the moment, I still find good, but it's so much better playing my beloved re2 remake and REmake that I can't see why playing this one. Re6 used to be my favorite resident evil game before I tried re1 and before re2 even exist. Now I kinda feel it so boring, probably because of the insanely amount times I beat it. Leon's campaing was the least I liked, maybe because it's the "horror" one in a straight action game. I still like the melee combat by the way. Because of it, I still enjoy the mercenaries. Still haven't watched the entire video, but I'd like to share this thoughts here. Sorry if I make any text mistake.

I can see what you mean about Leon's campaign being a bit out of place amongst the rest of it. Its like it was thrown in as a bit of fan service. RE6 tries to please everyone and didn't really pull it off.
Very well put together video. I disagree with some of the rankings but everyone has different tastes. My personal ranking would be: 1)- RE4 2)- RE4 Remake 3)- RE2 Remake 4)- RE1 Remake 5)- OG Trilogy 6)- RE8 7)- RE7 8)- RE5 9)- RE3 Remake 10)- RE6

This actually might be one of if not my favorite rankings, very solid picks and given good explanations for your opinions, while i may not agree with 6 being above 5 and 7 not being higher on the list, that's fine it's an opinion after all.

Aside that the list is good, I still think that Re2 Remake (or Reimagined) changed too much and has no charm for me, I felt like I've been playing RE4 for most of the time. It's just not for me, or doesn't do anything for me. My experience with RE2 is that I never played it, My dad did, and this game gave me very hard trauma, which I had for almost 2 decades, but I kept watching him play RE2-3, and other zombie movies which scared me to the core and a lot, from Shaun of the Dead to REC, from Dawn of the Dead to Resident Evil 1 & 2 movie (by Paul W. S. Anderson). After many years and recurring nightmares about zombies, zombie movies and games doesn't scare me that much, but if I boot up RE2 or RE3 I still get the jitters a bit, Re2 Remake can't do anything of that sort, and its flaws are far more annoying to me than most of RE fans. So this became some sort of Stockholm Syndrome to me, with 2 & 3.

I feel the love for Resi 5 and can understand it. As for RE3, its an ok game as a standalone, but as a remake of Nemesis that’s where it becomes so poor. Thanks for commenting!
For me RE village and 7 aren't really the RE I look for and grown to love so I would maybe leave them out, probably because of the FPV, and why Code Veronica gets overlooked is criminal(not just here by the way). RE4 Remake has to be No1 closely followed by RE2 Remake but the others are nicely described here.

@@TheWintersGate no Problem, RE7 was my First Resident Evil game and then i was introduced by a good Friend to the classics like RE Zero, RE1, RE Code Veronica and RE4 and then some months later the RE2 Remake came out and then i basically became a very big Fan of the Games and im always curious and Fascinated what ideas capcom is doing in the Remakes and the Main Story since they have basically a endless creative Way to Show us resident evil in a survival Horror Set and if i have to say what would be a Dream for me would be a Resident evil 1 Remake, basically completly remade into the RE Engine, i mean i was already very Scared when i First Played RE7 because of the Molded But when i Played the RE1 Remake only to relaise that the Zombies stay up again and Mutated into Chrimson Heads, made me shit my pants and i really hope when we get RE 9 that we Maybe get a nice and very Scary Horror Experience like RE7
I would love to see a RE1 remake in the FPS style of RE7. That would be epic. Technically, on easier modes, you can save whenever you want ,due to the abundance of ink ribbons. But you do have to faff around with finding a save room. I think nowadays with modern games, developers definitely have to allow the player to save whenever they want and as many times. I have a major soft spot for RE3 original. I even had the strategy guide when I was younger. Remake is OK as an action shooter...as a remake of the original, well. That's why it is bottom!
