I go to a film school, and this year I was in a “Violent Cinema” elective class. For the second half of the semester, each student got to choose a movie and then show it in one of our theaters on campus. One guy picked this, and everybody laughed their asses off while watching it. When it got to the part where the guy proposes with a severed arm of his dead wife, I lost my mind and howled with laughter. It was a great time. The guy who chose this movie was a good sport about it all too.
@@seanmatyas You could bring any movie, so long as it was reasonably violent. Another student brought the first “SpongeBob” movie, and we discussed how cartoon violence can possibly affect small children. The grade for us came from the students leading the discussions for their movies.
@chandllerburse737in all fairness part of the class was discussing such topics and how they effect the audience so after the ‘lol it’s SpongeBob’ wore off I imagine it was just a case of ‘well we technically have to do a class on this so we may as well talk about it. At least that’s how I read it. I
They seriously named the Virus Anamality?! I guess the only way to cure it is to have Nightwolf throw tomahawks at all of the Zombies' heads. If only Chris and the crew could get him off the computer for long enough to do so.
Meanwhile in Raccoon City, it's up to Old Man Redfield, Wabuu Kennedy, and Beauty Valentine to find UMBRELLA cologne for Phelous at the zombie infested Mall.
23:20 That moment *seems* like it'd kill a bunch of innocents, sure but it has an easy fix: "Too bad it's Sunday those buildings would've been filled up tomorrow!" "Look, I can see their parachutes, they're okay!"
Every time we get one of those gun-fu sequences in these movies I just have to wonder what about the tank controls from the resident evil games gave the animators the impression that these characters could even do that?
Considering neither one of them gets a single shot off on the other in that scene, I think it's perfectly representative of trying to lock on to any enemy in one of the many, many bad Resident Evil clones with bad tank controls.
Aries's thing for Rebecca is so over the top that its one of my favorite aspects of Vendetta. Grieving for his dead friends and family? I can understand. Kidnapping a near identical look a like of your dead wife, dress her up in the exact same wedding dress and shoes to recreate the ceremony? Nutty. Truly the two sides of Resident Evil: B-movie cheese and schlock mixed with some truly horrifying concepts.
"Consistent?" Capcom is constantly retconning RE lore with every new game or film. They make Kojima's lame MGS retcons tame by comparison now. Capcom has literally erased the original PS1 games with the lame remakes canon. RE is a complete freakin cluster f$*k.
@@apexsmokepacker Except the characters in REmakes 2 and 4 were actually well written and have good looking models unlike REmake 3 which fails in the former category. Not to mention that REmakes 2 and 4 actually add in some content to compensate for what they cut out, especially 4 and _did we even play the same bloody games?_ But yeah, Resident Evil was never consistent since 5 was released and the writing took a nosedive. Village was the worst offender by a landslide.
Not to mention Leon killing innocent people on the highway to take out a zombie dog, that all the 'cured' people were EATING other human beings seconds before...this movie was just...as Barry would say: WHAT? What IS THIS?
Being picked to be on Chris Redfields team in the BSAA is like being picked to serve on the USS Enterprise as a red shirt death is likely 😂 I hope Phelous does Resident Evil Infinite Darkness and Resident Evil Death Island next.
Stiletto girl is so memorable that when she showed up in Death Island I had absolutely no idea who she was. It's kinda funny how one of the major complaints of the Paul W.S. Anderson movies is that they're too focused on over-the-top action, yet the CG movies go even crazier in that aspect. At least these are consistent in their continuity, though.
I still think best part of this film is that it has a super badass Leon goes John wick scene, that is ruined by the climax having the silliest single fight in all of RE history… and this is a series where Wesker starts a fight with sunglasses throwing.
There's one thing I want Capcom to do... use Rebecca more. I really like her character and it feels wrong not having her appear a bit more often in the games.
It's the same with everyone who isn't Chris or Leon (or Ethan I guess) Jill hasn't been playable since 2012 outside of Remakes, and timeline wise hasn't shown up since RE5 in the games. All the non-Chris or Leon cast are relegated to spin-offs or if they're lucky, movies. Arguably even Leon has fallen off in that regard.
@@AussieDragoon Chris fell off in the games as well. Regardless of what role he is in (main or side character) his stories nowadays revolve around losing civilians we don’t know what personal connection he had with.
@@teriosshadow17 With how Tyrants break every known law of physics one can suppose the cure virus gave them free organ repair, maybe some of then even got kidneys that they had previously donated back and the like.
I feel sorry for the cured zombies who have killed people before they were cured. Also all the drivers from Leons Chase scene. And all the zombies in the sky scraper, was there a way to cure them? Well no longer a question when they are full of bullets. So much collateral damage.
Barry needs his own film at this point. It’s been too long and we’ve already had enough films with Chris and/or Leon. Also include Jill so we can get some delicious memes. XD
10:45 to be honest in Resident Evil 1, at 18 years old Rebecca was already graduated in chemistry so you would imagine that she is really , really capable in the cientific field. I dont think that she being a respected scientist almost 20 years later comes out of nowhere. Very funny video anyway, your horror movie reviews and specialy Resident Evil reviews are my favorites.
in the Resident Evil universe, Breaking Bad is about Walter White leaving Umbrella due to his ego, getting super cancer and making blue B.O.W.s to support his family
Seeing this made me question to myself "What recurring character hasn't been infected with something yet?" Because the only two characters I can think of off the top of my head are Chris and Barry.
I remember something sticking out to me from this movie, Arias made a big point about how young Rebecca was, and, like, yeah, she started her career very young, but I think she's about 40 in this movie, which isn't really young for much in the way of career achievements. Mind you, she still looks about 20, but that's because women aren't allowed to age in the RE universe.
YES!! Phelous is back. Yo if you’re reading this Phelous just know your channel helped me through a very dark time when I first discovered you. Peace!!
The weird thing about the wedding stuff is it almost works better if he isn't already a zombie virus salesman when he suffers his tragic loss. Cuz like...it's not tragic he was well on his way to being a Resident Evil villain when they smartly decided to try and get him killed. Also in these type of stories the dead-lover-look-alike always actuallly looks like the lover and it's like...if the the person is crazy/in grief it'd be fun if for once they didn't look like the their dead lover.
How very ironic. I was actually re-watching all of your Resident Evil reviews last night and to have this review uploaded today is literally too perfect~😉👍
Hey Phelan came by to say I really enjoyed your content last year and I'm so looking forward to more from ya this year. Here's to another year of great content. Thank you Phelan for the hard work you do and I hope you had a great Christmas!
Honestly this makes me smile because something similar happened to Kingdom hearts with the Back Cover movie 😄 and that also wasn't exactly newcomer friendly
Wow, the circular gunfight looked like the editor just added random muzzle flashes and sounds as a joke. That would actually be incredible to see in a lot of movies as a matter of fact...
The happy ending where a cure is deployed over New York, changing the zombies back to normal people has some messed up implications when you stop and think about it. Like, how would you recover from the fact that you ate someone while zombified? What if you killed and ate a loved one? All the therapy in the world isn't gonna fix that. Also, what would happen if a zombie was shot but didn't get their head destroyed? The virus would keep them "alive" but the moment they're cured, they would bleed out and die in horrible agony. It's honestly a super messed up situation that the movie just glosses over.
I'm so glad you used the Transformers "We won" scene. 😄 I've started thinking about that every time there's a "technical win with insane collateral damage" in media.
I'm glad you pointed out that divide between casual fans and the hardcore viewers. I tried, I want to, get into these movies but I don't understand a whole lot because they're so entrenched in the lore.
I guess up next is Death Island, the grand meeting of Jill and Leon because the franchise remembered Jill existed again after 3make. Also the grand meeting of CG Movie and Remake actors for some reason because they didn't use Chris's Village actor or Leon's Remake actor for some reason but did for Claire and Jill.
@@apexsmokepacker I get that's why they don't show up in the games, it doesn't explain the weird actor mix up for the movie since that shouldn't affect Chris or Leon.
This was one of the better movies at least and have to admit I did love seeing Chris delivering a DDT (Jake "The Snake" Roberts style) where it was done as a finisher and not just another move set like in today's wrestle-crap where they get up right after lol. Also, the movie blows away all of the live action movies without even trying, too - especially the "Alice" movies which were all just horrible. They should have just named those movies "Alice" since the director had a thing for the actress who isn't really that good in acting then married her for her looks and not her uh...acting skills. Alice goes to Raccoon City, Alice Goes Berserk, Alice Goes to Hell, Alice in Another Metroid Remake... you get the idea. And people wondered why we all didn't like her, or the director while filming in the movies - it was just the Alice Show and not about any of the lore, or characters that actually mattered like Jill, or Chris, or even Barry. Heck, even the Hunter got shafted because of it all being about Alice and not the monsters.
Yeah, my fav content creator made new video and it is about our beloved Resident Evil franchise woo-hoo. The best thing about this is me thinking - 'well I didn't know that there was third animated movie. Heh at this point I will rate it because Phelous covered nicely whole movie it looks like 6/10.' Then I went to rate the movie and... I already watched it and rated it 6/10 6 years ago LOL Anyway waiting for you to cover/review Resident Evil : Infinite Darkness. Happy New Year Phelan you handsome gray-haired now devil and please more non-cartoony content please.
I really wanted this movie to be better than it is. I liked that they brought Rebecca back, but then they just used her as a damsel in distress. And the rest of it just feels recycled from other RE stuff. They literally just took Chris' alcoholism story from RE6 and slapped it on Leon right down to him angsting over a team of dead red shirts.
Fun fact: This film was animated by Sega/TMS own studio Marza Animation Planet, the studio that brought you a bunch of CGI cutscenes for Sega games(yes, including Sonic Unleashed), Lupin the Third the First, a crappy Captain Harlock film, and the Sonic the Hedgehog Movies.
I still remember the first time I saw the scene with the arm. I had to pause the movie and go "What? Wait...what?!" Like really? Also one good sniper could've prevented this. Instead of a giant obvious explosive it should've just been one decent sniper.
You know what's funny? There's been at least a dozen Resident Evil games released since the first one, most way more critical acclaimed with much bigger sales numbers and yet Resident Evil 1 is the ONLY game people still quote and reference. Really tells you what a memorable game it truly was.
The only thing I do remember about this movie is the cool stupid gun fighting that Chris and Leon did to all those zombies. That was the only memorable thing in the film to me because my friend told me that and aside from it looking cool everything else just felt like an absolute mess. I mean, we did get Rebecca back.......for this movie only, Leon was here but he was being super emo during the whole runtime and Chris keeps letting people die around him while also being a miltary jar head. Again, I do hope we will be done with the Winters family saga in the games but aside from that, good job Pheolus sandwich! Oh and Resident Brats, The hit spin off to Resident Evil!
My FAVORITE Resident Evil movie. It has the perfect amount of camp, doesn’t take itself seriously, over the top action scenes, and tons of fan service. There’s nothing you really want more in an RE movie. RE Dead Island had the PERFECT setup to exceed this film, but they kinda botched the execution imo.
So this is what a metal gear solid and resident evil crossover would look like ... The battle of Chris and Aries seemed both had some cqc qualities and the grafting on an arm to recreate a dead person reminded me to liquid ocelot and that makes in this movie as much sense as in metal gear series ... Now I wonder how a liquid snake would operate when he would have loose his head, it seems to be implied the nano machines he had in the shadow Moses incident where able to copy his personality so the arm could transfere that to revolver ocelot ... But wouldn't it be enough to infect other ppl with the liquid snake nano machines so he would become a swarm of liquid snakes? Thanks Konami, we'll never get an answer to that problem now, at least not from Hideo Kojima if they decide to make another MGS game sometime
