I have a cat, he is very in tune to when I need support with my pain. He will lay on my stomach and keep me warm and just the purring is the best, it releases serotonin in your brain and other happy cozy chemicals. His purring also really helps me with my sleep. I mean, your list is pretty comprehensive and includes things I hadn’t even thought about using (like your third arm haha), but my cat is a literal life saver for my chronic pain. There’s literally nothing else I have to add to the list 😂 maybe meal prep. I still have days where I’m well enough to cook for myself so I cook huge batches and put food in the fridge and freezer for periods where I can’t stand for that long to cook. I just heat it up in the microwave and tada, we have dinner, lunch and breakfast sorted. Maybe a good one for if you live on your own and don’t have a carer.
omg so jel you have a cat! would love one too, they are so intiuative it is amazing. my family dog at my mums house will sit with me for hours when i'm flaring. yes love a meal prep sesh! my partner and mum do them often for me at the moment, but would like to get back to doing some of my own too.❤️
Thank you for this video. I'm 70 and have suffered from fibromyalgia since I was 20. Now at my age I also have severe hip osteoarthritis and neck and shoulder pain. One thing that helps me is a Reacher. It Helps me pick up things from the floor and even sometimes helps me dress myself. My daughter is my carer and I also have a partner. I have good insurance here in the states, in Hawaii. They pay for my physical therapy which keeps me out of the operating room or a wheelchair. I believe in using whatever method that helps pain. I use both Eastern and Western medicine. I will look into a lot of the helpers that you mentioned in this video. Sending you healing vibes. Aloha
oh nice i have seen pople using those grabber sticks!! they look very useful. so glad you have support from your family aswell as decent healthcare. ❤️❤️
If you need a shoulder to cry on...im 5 hrs away# lol...love Kauai...spent months there..i make delicious lillikoi punch and chiffon pie..fresh crunchy lillikoi seeds make it much better..maholo aloha!
Oh my gosh I wish I had found you sooner, thank you for this video and really voicing the part about nhs, which is a wonderful resource but not fit for us non pigeon people! Especially where there is no umbrella care or knowledge for us eds people!
Also a fellow reader, and an undiagnosed sicko. I've just been away for 2 weeks doing some amazing volunteer work but now I'm unsurprisingly flaring so videos like this are where I'm camping atm to try and get out of this hopefully swiftly.
Thank you so much for this helpful video. I have Adeno, migraine and mental illness. For migraine what helps me is peppermint oil on the neck and temples, also a migraine relaif playlist (for when i am outside or even when i need some input) for me water sounds like waves or stream sounds are soothing. For Adeno, what i learned is to take my medication as soon as the pain is coming. Don't wait till it is the worst. Take the pill, lay down on the bed or a mat and breathe in to the belly. Love to all sickos ♡
thanks so much for all your support in this video. i have found things that will really help support my disability and also found a perrin technique practitioner here in the UK - can't thank you enough :)
I LOVE THIS VID one of my faves. I’m honoured to be mentioned 🥺🥺🥺 (watched half now rest break cos I’m a good spoonie xoxox) also the tan brows hair you are looking BEAUT ❤️
Thank you so much for this video! I've been in lots of pain this year and I'm struggling to accept it. I'm unfortunately very used to my mental illnesses but not so much my physical symptoms but this video was so helpful and now I'm saving up my coins to get some of this stuff! I want to finally look after myself properly I struggle a lot with thinking I deserve the pain. Can't wait to see if some of this works for me and hopefully ill even be able to make youtube videos again soon! Could really do with a YUYU bottle right now I have PCOS and my cramps are awful! sending love and spoons xx
This is so helpful! I think I'll have to keep revisiting! Thank you for compiling this! Hope this is okay to post but little things I find helpful are gin-gins (ginger sweets) for nausea, it's not as helpful as nausea meds but takes the edge off, and little packs of salty pretzels for POTS symptoms - I keep both stashed in my bag, in the cupboard and the car. Also a theracane (self-massage tool so you can reach your back) absolute life changer for my back pain when I get muscle knots.
Thank your for your brilliant tips! :) Will definitely try the playlist on Insight Timer! I was desperately searching for a new eye mask and I will probably give the Smartphone arm thingy a go aswell. Great!!
Thank you so much; this is one of the greatest videos I have ever came cross. And to think I arrived to your channel via a booktube recommendation! Haha. I wanted to let you know what while I do not suffer from the same conditions you do, I have fallen completely ill and bed-ridden this September, recovering from an opiate addiction (I am taking an opiate-maintenance medicine, Subutex, which is the cause for the constant, 24/7 sick feeling). I am going to show your vid to my partner cause I literally wanna get each and every one of the things you mentioned, especially the things regarding nausea, fatigue, bone ache and temperature balance. Thank you, your channel is awesome (I need to watch the book vids!) and you are so sweet.
Oh, and I'm so glad you mentioned the shower stool + the fear of being left alone at home when showering (standing up + heat = might faint). Totally not a shame, very functional
Hey Megan, thanks so much for commenting. i'm so glad some of these tips could help you. absolutely fantastic on your recovery, congrats on your sober time!! do you watch Jen Cutting and Jessica Kent's channels? they are both are recovered from substance abuse and have spent time in prison. they make brilliant videos on recovery and experiences. sending love ❤️
such a great video! i’m starting the perrin technique at the beginning of june and am a little anxious so it’s great to hear from someone who has tried it ☺️ two things which have been a game changer for me recently are my weighted blanket (it really helps with restless legs and joint pain imo) and a momostick for holding my phone - i used to have a popsocket but this is a lot more comfortable to hold, especially since the pain in my hands has gotten worse. i also take my milk thistle in capsule form because i can’t hack the taste!
ooo i really want to try a weighted blanket im just worried about how heavy it is to move alone hahaha, oo cool will check out a momostick! good luck with perrin, DM me if you want to chat about it, im loving my sessions so far but theres a few side effects
Just SUBmarined you...i have EDS...chronic pain..im discouraged big time...i was trying to do a pain support group...but oh well..yt continue deleted my SUBmarines... I'm still undecided about getting VaxD
