While I continue my travelling adventures, it was suggested by ‪@ct_refuse‬ that I visit Rangiora and film their rubbish collection service. I was reluctant to make this trip away from my planned travels, but I was not disappointed.
Thank you to all the amazing drivers I filmed on this day; I managed to get a lot of great content to use over multiple videos.
This video is dedicated to the organic and recycling collection service. I did not spend long with the organics truck as I feel the two drivers were doing some vehicle training and I did not wish to get in the way or distract anyone.
Rangiora is 28km north of Christchurch and is a part of the Waimakariri District Council. Here, Waste Management has the contract to collect residents' bins: Red for rubbish, Yellow for recycling and Green for organic waste (an opt in service).
The Organic green waste service is a weekly collection however rubbish and recycling are collected on alternative weeks.
Thank you to the amazing drivers being so accepting of me film them and tolerating me following them around.

Thank you, I've tried to make it a point of difference with a travelling theme while I have the chance to get out and about filming trucks in different parts of the country. Thought it might make a nice series.

I had previously watched the garbage before this video, and while there not quite as good as the garbage, there still great to see in action, The Spak was my favorite of the 2, and good to see some more raptors on organics, quite a fan of it, was good to see it had a little slam when the arm hit the hopper, While it was short I did enjoy it, moving onto the recycle side of things, Quite a nice truck again, haha love the squeak of the arm, its quite loud on this truck, one of our dennis/bucher combos have it, and you hear the squeak before the truck, lol. they seem to have a pretty good bin system, having 80L, 140L and 240L, catering for everyone's needs! Thank you for commenting. Talking the organics truck and the double bin lift, it didn't come out too well in the video, but I could hear when the bin came back down to the ground that it was still half full, hence the second lift, but that did not help as it was still as full when it came back down a second time. I hadn't really noticed the squeak of the arm before you mentioned it, but one squeak that is common with our trucks over here is the squeaking of the breaks, you hear the trucks coming because of these squeaks long before you hear the engine or see the truck. Yes, it does seem to be a good system, but one thing I note different to my town, no separate glass recycling. All goes into the one recycling bin.
