An old school telephone guy would never say Ring and Tip. So as you look at the face of the jack per USOC a two pair system would be TIP- RING - TIP- RING. TTTRTRRR came along with addition of more pairs. Somebody just didn't think ahead.... (Who's gonna need more than two lines?!? - Famous Last Words) Thanks for the video Ron!
+Michael Lewis Hey great to hear from you! I appreciate the comment. Hey would you know why the sequence goes TTTRTRRR? Why is the middle pair flipped? Love to hear an answer. Ron
Ron, I want to add a phone jack into another room, using the same phone number as my kitchen line (which is the only line I currently have). I was going to run a new cat5e line to my phone box splitting the original line's cat5e at the box with a T Adapter splitter. Is this the best way, or is there another connection in the box that uses the same number as my original line that I should be looking for?
Just like you are thinking run a Cat 5e or Cat 3 line to the other room and splice it to the incoming phone line and the other room. Just splice them all together and install a jack in the new room. Good luck Ron
