You're right that is an Anthem, I've seen them live last month and "I Rise" was their second song they played, first was "Radioactive". I had a blast, PTX sure know how put up a really good concert. Peace.

I don't know if this was the intent, but this song reflects the struggle PTX had to overcome their own obstacles, like the cancelled record contract.

Good breakdown. It reminds me a bit of their journey. They have worked very hard to be as successful as they are. They have fought through critics who say their style is too "niche". They are rising above those critics.

Love this new song. I am so excited I am actually seeing them tonight in Ridgefield ,Washington. Saw them in 2018 and they were incredible then. So much new music since then. I can hardly wait to hear this live.

I can totally see this as a Marching Band song, or perhaps a song featured in a film for some epic empowerment perhaps army boot camp or something! Recommend their live performance 'Popspring 2016' they do 4 songs, 3 of which are Originals (Cracked, Can't Sleep Love, and Water) and also an Evolution song of theirs! They are just as good live as they are on these official songs

It’s got a kind of gritty, grimy determined quality to it, and I love the image of trudging until you are marching into the sunlight. Scott has been in the forefront recently, and I’m thinking it could be by design, to give the band a single focal point in order to become a solid radio presence. They are apparently going independent with their original releases now, so maybe it’s a tactic. But, then again, who knows? Loved your reaction, please keep ‘em coming. Peace …

Nice to see you back reacting to PTX!! It's been quite a while. I have a feeling Scott wrote this. He mentioned that he set himself a task of writing a song a day during the pandemic. And I'm pretty sure he's been writing since then since he put out a solo album last month. Mitch has some new stuff too. Other than that, they were on The Masked Singer as the California Rolls ( giant sushi rolls) and made it to the semi-finals before being eliminated ( unfairly, most of us think). They sang about 5 songs during the course of the show and all of them are new covers, but one stood out...Creep. They did it twice during the show and the best version was when they were eliminated and did it unmasked as their outro song. There's video of it from the Masked Singer. Looking forward to more PTX or solos or Superfruit stuff from you!!

There are some live videos of them performing this at recent concerts that bring additional context - worth checking out. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c4HAS9vTJrY.html I think today many battles are being fought - civil rights, voting rights, LGBTQ rights, women's bodily autonomy - but yeah, would be good before a football game too. It's just a great song.

Love this song, love your reaction. I think maybe a word for it as well as muddy, which is fine too, is Gritty. Like it Diggs in. ( yes, I misspelled "digs" on purpose). It's muddy, it's gritty, it is such an anthem and call for battle. But the battle is.... A battle of humanity. Something we all face as humans.

Hey ! Welcome back to Pentatonix. I'm impressed you remembered their names after a year, but you said you'd been listening to them offline. This was written to be part of the opening medley for the US leg of this year's World Tour and to get the crowd hyped up. You'll find fan videos with live versions from concerts the last month or so, some really high quality. This studio recording obviously has multiple layers of percussion and vocals, so live they use a pre-recorded percussion track which changed a bit over the course of the tour. Scott was one of the co-writers so that's one reason he's soloing, and he does it a bit differently in every performance.

You missed a good show. This is part of the opening to the concert. It was radioactive transitioning into this. The combination really worked. Also, they did actually march across the stage too.

If you don't you're missing the song. I know a reactor uses around speakers but even heat admitted you could pick up more of the Subtleties in the song. If you have them my apologies and this is only a suggestion

I was not wearing headphones, however my studio has professional 'studio'- quality surround and is very often better than both of my headsets- each-musician used.
