What causes the cells please. Is it silicone oil? Also if I were to use clear bottom coat and add some gold resin with silicone oil in would it give me a webbing effect?

Maybe if you had tilted toward the side you wanted to keep? I know that might sound backwards but it usually helps keep more of what you want in the pattern...Lol...I bet you knew that already as you obviously know your art! Beautiful work.

High or low visosity resin? Do you let it sit any length of time before you pour? Did you mix your colors with resin before pouring? What was the ratio?

Thanks. I usually mix up about 24 ounces at a time for several projects. If I had to guess, I would say about 8 ounces.

Wow!! The overhead pic you displayed at the end of the video makes it look like a beautiful surf wave. Love your work, as always. Quick question...did you prep the wood or seal it at all before putting down resin? Apologies if you mentioned it during the video....I missed it Also.... will you be putting a flood coat on?

Thanks. It is funny how the colors work. The video the day before this was released was using the same colors. Funny how there is 2 completely different results. No, I didn't seal the wood as it was already sealed. No worries on the questions. Ask away. Yes, I will put a flood coat on this because there is always a chance someone could use this to serve food on and the resin looses it's food safety when you introduce color. Fix that with a clear flood coat.

Thanks so much. The cells come from reaction of different pastes to each other. One brand in particular will react when another brand goes over top of them in a thin layer. About how much total colored resin did you use to cover the tray?

Probably about 10 oz. It's 3 oz sq foot is the rule and dirty pours can be 4-6 oz sq foot with a tray.

This particular piece has no acrylics in it. These are resin pastes that are mixed into resin to color it. The acrylics are water based and resin reacts badly to water based products. Rule of thumb is no more than 10% color into your resin, but always check your resin information. I get all my colors from www.artisttilldeath.com use code "howdy" for additional off.

Hi can you put resin into paint and do a pour thick layer and it dry like a resin?

Hi. Do not pour resin directly into paint! You can add up to 10% of colorant to resin, but a colorant like paint that is water based might change up the chemistry of the resin quickly and create a failure in the resin. I get all my colorants from www.artisttilldeath.com

So, this is just regular acrylic paint u r using on top of resin? Why on resin? (it's beautiful btw), but what purpose does the resin serve? And did u use any silicone? Ty!! ♥️

This is only resin. There is no acrylic paint on this, under this or in this. I have used pigments and pastes to color the resin that are designed to go into resin. This does have a very acrylic pour feel to it, but I assure you it is all resin. One of my top ten pours I think.

So you use monster liquid latex for your white base? Am I understanding this correctly?

NO No No. I use the liquid latex for the bottom of the canvases to help clean off resin drips. It makes clean up a lot easier. The colors inside the tray are all mixed into the resin.

Certain resin colorants will react to other colorants. In this case a product from Color Passion reacts when other colors go over top of it and create cells. All my colors for resin I get from Artisttilldeath.com. Use code "howdy" for extra off.

what causes the cells to pop up. Is there another product you put in with the resin. Or is just resin and it happens naturally.

The cells are caused by chemical reactions with different colors. Some colors are heavier than others and push down, some will cause a separation with other colors. It is mostly about how they interact together. You can get cells when you swipe an area of color over another area and create a thin swipe.

It would but it would require a bunch of things to happen. Tapping off sides, pouring more resin per square foot to compensate for the dirty pour technique, the right colors and pastes, and muscles for tilting your larger piece. Bet that would be amazing!

I usually don't wait, but I do try and pour slowly and minimize how much I manipulate. Nor do I worry about the resin if it has been later and it is thicker. The colors can blend very easily.
