Awesome video thanks for the tips! My wife and i are trying to set up a home gym but dumbbells and bars are so expensive, but we already have a set of bands so this is extremely helpful!
Great video, thanks. I have the handles and use them a lot. I like the idea of the bar so will have to get one. I got tired of paying gym fees and really loved the home gym I had years ago. We just moved to a new house/town and lucky enough to have a pretty big garage, so putting together a nice workout are in there. I just got a couple of anchors mounted on the wall as well and will also have to purchase a few more bigger bands.
Finally someone said it out loud! I also use „under armpit“-position with the bands. Not only is it correct what you said here about the shoulders and posture, also you move a big part of the band simply by the forward movement of the arms when you wrap it around your shoulders/upper arms. Another benefit of the „armpit“-position: you can vary the position of the band in your back. If you move it more towards your lower back you can so an incline press.
I have bought some bands to start with before I hit some weights, mainly focusing on utilising both as I'm looking for an MMA training regimen. And this video taught me how to bench press with a band with all the variations you provided. Thank you 🙏💪
I tried the under the arm chest press. I like the fact that I seem to have better tension when the bar is close to the chest (as compared to wrapping the bands around my delts like the X3 method) but I did find that I felt this more in my front shoulders than my chest. It does work well with the Clench handles, which I have.
Hello Brandon Happy Holidays to you and your family, I noticed that some resistance band channels place the bands on the outer portion of the arms for which I find uncomfortable as I prefer under the arms like you.
I just cut a piece of schedule 40 1 inch pipe to make a bar. I saw what they were selling for on Amazon and said oh hell now so for about $12-15 bucks I have something 2 X as strong.
If you feel shoulder pain (manageable but cuts 20% of my 300-400lb sets), as I have for years with free weights, what do you recommend to minimize shoulder tension and increase triceps tension? Lower resistance band is obvious and pushing up under arms helps. At 61, not sure how much pain before MRI for diagnosis.
Hey Gregory. First things first, if you have shoulder pain, I would recommend trying to address whatever issues are causing this pain. Many times we see people who simply need to add in more shoulder mobility, shoulder girdle strengthening, and range of motion exercises to help get your shoulder joint in better condition to handle heavy compound exercises with proper form and range of motion.
Hi, if you're feeling shoulder pain try doing Scapular push ups after each set to fire the serratus anterior muscle, increase horizontal pulling volume, and check if your form is correct.
@@ClenchFitness I was always doing the chest press with the band wrapped around my shoulders. This method feels much more natural and I'm getting a better squeeze
Thanks for these tips! How about using a Dumbbell with the bands? Please get the foot plate in soon so I can get my Deadlifts and Squats in without messing up my feet!
Thanks john! You can totally use DB's with the bands. Just replace the band handles in the video with a pair of DB's. Also, we are doing everything we can to get the footplates here as soon as possible.
Great video very informative, just a question can these type of bands snap when doing the chest press kind of worried how much damage that can do or will it just tear. Thanks in advance.
Thanks! Yes these bands can snap, but if you use good quality layered band like the ones we sell at clenchfitness.com you should be able to use them for a long time without issues

I typically like to use a barbell to squat with bands, but I use it in a squat rack to be able to load the bar with band tension effectively. We also have a good video on doing squats with bands if you don't have a rack. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bfg3n5EDveA.html
