UPDATE:
OBS UPDATED RECENTLY to be able to use .cube files too. Takes out some of these steps... Can generate a LUT directly from the graded image and import without making the PNG.
Here's how I color correct my live camera with DaVinci Resolve and use that grade as a LUT in OBS. It's super easy to make OBS LUTs for your own HDMI camera hooked up with an Elgato or Blackmagic HDMI card. This is great for Sony a6000, a7s, Canon DSLRs, Blackmagic cameras, ANYTHING.

1. Take a short clip/picture with camera 2. In OBS go to filters -> luts and copy Original.png 3. Throw both (clip and original.png) into timeline in DaVinci Resolve 4. Go to color correction in resolve and apply changes to clip. Then import color correction to png file as well. 5. Change resolution in timeline settings to 512x512px 6. Grab still from the png. Then export still as png and read it in OBS

Awesome tutorial! This procedure works for USB cameras as well. I use old canon 1200d as a webcam with EOS Utility and OBS software. I use Virtualcam plugin in OBS which allows to use the DSLR with any videocall software (skype, hangouts, zoom, teams, etc.). Its great because there is no need for capture card. However, a possibility to make own LUT for different cameras and circumstances is just mind-blowing. Great job as usual and congrats for 100k subs!

This helped me a ton. I use Logitech Brio cameras for streaming on Twitch and they like to add a bit too much magenta out-of-the-box. I also use hue lights to color my room and could never quite fix the flesh tones until I saw this tutorial. Thank you!
@nedus
@nedus 3 года назад
Hey! I know this is an old comment, but I was wondering how you deal with your flesh tones on a webcam. My friend and I have been looking through a lot of different programs and cameras, because we noticed that there are some people on Twitch who just seem to have inhuman skin smoothness, without the more obvious signs of filters, and I couldn’t figure out if it was skin tone color correcting through a LUT, or something else. Snap Cam, “Vlogging Cameras”, and “just light it properly” don’t seem to give us the same results. We’re planning on using regular C920s, which I know has a definite image quality dip from a normal camera, but I’ve seen some great imaging come from them too, at least for what we want them to do lol Also, I’m really sorry for such a long comment 😅 We’ve just been racking our brains, and we’re pretty new to all of this stuff.
@vtmattg
@vtmattg 3 года назад
Adding LUTs to webcam sources in OBS and matching lighting temperature between lights and camera goes a long way toward resolving colors, including flesh tones. One trick a lot of DSLR users use for smoothing skin while keeping color accuracy and definition is using a lens filter like Tiffen Black Mist Pro filters. I use a 1/4 to 1/2 intensity filters on my lenses and it provides skin smoothing and blending and that cinematic "glow" without turning into straight out diffusion. If you are handy, you can get one of these filters in front of your webcams for the same effect. Definitely do some research first. I've tried a few different programs to see what can generate the best looking LUT for my webcams, and it always comes back to Davinci Resolve, which is handy, since it's free.

Cool great! I also found a work around which works alot easier for me, basically I connect my camera that i stream with (EOS R) to a ninja 5 that has all the LUTS that I want preloaded onto it, so the Ninja V exports the signal out to the Elgato Camlink 4K and viola I have realtime LUTS coming from my Ninja V :) , best part is I can change between 8 different LUTS on the fly just by tapping on my Ninja V's screen :)

Thanks for the vid, any idea why it is not working for me? is it bc I used more than one node? I tried to export a png but when using it the video /picture looks really bad like the bits or color depth it is not working or matching, it just breaks the image and pixelates it. If anyone has the same issue or knows what could be wrong, I'd be happy to hear your ideas.

@CaseyFaris
@CaseyFaris 3 года назад
Yo... you need to make your lighting constant. That’s the only way to avoid it.
3 года назад
Yeah I ran into this problem when I was just starting my channel. Worrying about daylight changing is such a pain in the butt and unneeded hassle so it's best to take natural light out of the equation. I put a black or thick blanket over the window so it's always dark in the room then I just need to keep my lighting the same and can use the same colour grading every time. Highly recommend. You can get cheap lights on Amazon, I got a ring light with tripod for about $40 and that plus the light from my monitors was all I needed for a few months. Just upgraded and got 2 coloured light bulbs for my lamp for $20 to add some background colour and it looks great.
