A grandmother is trying to adopt her grandchild. They have been cleared of live scan, the home was perfect except for a few stuffed animals in the child's room and things on the kitchen counter. It seems like the social workers is being very hard on them. She will not approve the home, She felt the stuffed animals were clutter. Because the baby is also my grandchild, I'm concerned. Can they ask for a second opinion? I really would like to know where to turn, my granddaughter is growing up fast and we want so much for her to be a part of our family. Thankyou for your time.
I wish I would have seen this when I needed it in August 2019. Merced County doesn't follow or acknowledge any of this Emergency Placement for families when their children need them most. They require us to go through full RFA process before they consider us for the placement of our children and they continually tell us we may go through the process but there's no guarantee the child(ren) will be placed with us. It took us seven weeks to get our infant granddaughter placed with us after she was separated from her parents and they (county) did not place the siblings together. Also, no two SW will give us the same answer with the exception of this statement - "Just because you become RFA approved, doesn't mean your family member (children) will be placed with you". This is just a nutshell of the experience we had.
Is for all the states? I'm in az and fighting to get a child that has a deep bond with me and their making it so hard to obtain him. He cried when I dropped off some snacks he likes and he cried once he saw me. He was placed with estranged family that never been his life. He is only a year old 💔
