Why does no one write music like this anymore? Or if they are, why aren’t we hearing it? The music literally toys with my soul, I can genuinely feel my own emotions moving. I wanna smile, cry and laugh in disbelief all at the same time. Absolutely stunning.

If you listen to movies score's you'll find the most beautiful and magical music. Some people list the music written by John Williams (a genius) but my favorite is Ennio Morriconi.....RIP! Listen to Marconi's "The Mission" (the best) or "Cinema Paradiso". Then there is always music by John Barry.

The last movement absolutely transports me 2000 years: I can see it. Roman legions in armor with pennants waving on pikes, returning from a foreign conquest. Elephants , tigers. slaves , prisoners, War booty of all descriptions marching in a tremendous dust cloud in the broiling sun on the Appian way to the cheers of citizenry lining the roadway. This is a technical as well as musical masterpiece..

For certain one of the finest productions of "Pines of Rome". I'm delighted to see such a youthful orchestra creating such a refined sound, usually heard by groups with older members. The credit must definitely go to the very talented director! And, of course, to the dedicated, desciplined Slovenian students committed to good music. My son was 1st Trombone in a youth wind ensemble that toured Europe. At one of their concerts prior to the tour, they played Pines of Rome. Absolutely triumphant. After that incredibly loud and marvelous sustained chord at the end....in one movement, the conductor ended the piece with a big arc of his baton and never stopped the motion, walking from the podium to off stage. The standing ovation was THUNDROUS, sustained beyond 5 minutes. It was in a church with fantastic natural reverb. That performance cemented this piece as one of my absolute favorite top 5 of all time. The conductor also made use of brass placement around the room.

Pines of the Appian Way is now officially my favorite song ever, thanks, no doubt, in part because of the incredible performance showcased here. It just has everything: a slow, subtle beginning that builds up, memorable themes, an epic crescendo, a full and engaging main part that sounds incredible, and an ending that is a both satisfying and show-stopping experience that brings everything together so well. It truly is a piece like no other I have ever heard!

Under the baton of Maestro Nesj Bečan all the instruments of the orchestral canvas acquiere a touch of magic and enchantment to make the orchestra vibrate and resound with a torrent of tonalities and colours unequalled in the musical world. Particularly in this score where the musical ideas of Ottorino Respighi seem to be imbued with an atmosphere of mystery, conjuration and wizardry. Players and conductor honor Respighi's score. Maestro Nesj Bečan you are an unqualled shaman, genius and brujo of the orchestral palette.

Amazing! I spend half of my You Tube time listening to this orchestra. Thank you Zevnikov. I appreciate you not ending abruptly and allowing us to see the audience and the recognition of the soloists at the end. Keep posting!

It's comforting to know other people feel the same way about this powerful music. Music composed by, performed by and loved by like minded people.

the textures in this are incredible--its like hearing piece for first time--esp. percussion--had no idea so many--and piano --all right there--kudos to conductor--he brought them out--usually drowned out...every thing is so crisp and clear..best I've heard like so many commentators here.
