Honestly Foresty I’ve just watched the guy who made the ‘hate video’ (I’ll get to him in a second) I know from my own experience and RU-vid being my full time job that it’s bloody difficult, it’s constant underlying pressure on creating the best, the most entertaining or dramatic videos but as you say everyday life isn’t like that. Me along with thousands watch your videos because of the simplicity and rawness of them, whether it’s a hike and cook every video I don’t care. I like the real raw adventures you take yourself on and am in awe of someone doing that kind of stuff completely alone. The guy who made the hate video goes on about money and assuming from the way he speaks he must be your accountant because he seems to know a lot LOL. It makes me laugh that people always make life about money when it really shouldn’t be. He then gets personal about the way you speak and chats a load more shit. This guys is an absolute fuckin* moron, imagine being that sad that you make a video about disliking someone’s channel when the simple thing to do is stop watching. Imagine feeling that entitled to create a video like that and tell someone (you) what they should be doing with there life and what they should be spending there money on. He says ‘challenge yourself’ this made me laugh. I’m sure if he even tried to go on one of those hikes you’ve done he would probably have a heart attack 10 minutes in. I can see from your video that this guys ‘hate video’ has affected you which I completely understand and it’s easier said than done but people like that you’ve just got to give the big middle finger, he is completely irrelevant and losing one follower is no big deal when thousands still watch you. Sadly the way the human brain works that 1000s of great positive comments will always loose against the one negative comment. It’s very strange. Between your van builds, your hiking, your minimalist lifestyle, and your ability to turn out some really stellar cinematography and editing: you're doing something 99.5% of people couldn't do and something I think a lot of your fan base wishes they could experience. Especially over these past two years getting a chance to live vicariously through your adventures has been a blast! I know personally I like your channel because you're very genuine and I can tell you're doing what you do because you enjoy it, not because you're trying to generate views or be an 'influencer'. "Don't read the hate mail" is probably the best advice I've heard, particularly on RU-vid. There are so many haters out there who only wish to criticize others simply because their miserable lives pale in comparison to your epic adventures. My advice is to listen to the 302K subscribers - that says it all. I love your content - another week, another mountain, another recipe, another beer! We watch you because you are the real deal. And those drone shots are comparable to anything you'd see on National Geographic or other big network with multi-million dollar studios (and you did it in a van!!!). Keep being true to yourself and tell the haters to go troll their own meagre existence.

Man, you are one of the few youtubers that I have a lot of respect for. You are modest, you are doing cool things, you don't publish every location you are at and your personality. I'm extremely reclusive, socially awkward, and love just being alone and doing my own thing. I'm totally confused why a vanlifer would choose to put you down because you're not showing the content that they want when there are literally thousands of videos that person could be watching. You're content is and should always be about what you love and what you choose to share, I'm sure you already know that. It sounds like the people that follow you get it and love you and your content just the way it is or they wouldn't be so committed. I just found your channel so I can say anything about the videos, but you just keep doing you.
It's a strange thing about the creative life: you can have thousands, tens of thousands, or in some cases millions of fans, but that one lone voice who is deeply critical can get you down. But here's the thing - you found an audience, grew it, got exposure, and found a niche. Us fans love you for your personality, inventiveness, cleverness, and overall character. It just so happens that you go for hikes, cook, and sometimes other cool adventures. I can't speak for everyone, but I have a hunch most of us would stick with you even if you just did that forever. “The channel” exists to help you do what you want to do, not to make you some kind of performing seal who has to entertain us at regular intervals. You are gracious enough to let us in on that, and we take pleasure in it, and for me at least, that’s enough. I’ve seen places and things in your videos that I’ll never see in person, staggering landscapes and epic views, and for that I thank you. But it lasts as long as it works for you, not us. (But, I do worry if I haven’t seen a video for a week or so, in case you’ve got yourself stranded in some predicament!)

I've said this before, and I'll say it again - this is easily my favorite RU-vid channel!! What you do is more than just a van life thing - you are in a class of it's own. The mountaineering, one-off van maintenance in the middle of nowhere repairs (so amazing), epic journeys, humor, beyond amazing biking treks, super tasty looking meal preparation, and OMG the van builds! I really don't know how anyone could criticize someone that's so inspiring.

My husband and I love your videos! I like the mix of hiking, cooking, and the occasional installation/fix videos. The hikes through Utah were fantastic and we are excited to see more of your adventures. Also, my hubby is a mechanically inclined guy, and he says it’s really nice to see that the installation part of van life ends, and you’re able to live a comfortable life. If you had to constantly fix and install things, it would get a little stressful and it would be just like living in a house. For example, we ALWAYS have some home improvement project going and it’s a bit of a hassle. I like your pure and simple van life. We also love the slow cooks! Keep doing what you’re doing!

it takes alot of guts to expose your life online like you have. there's always an aspect of vulnerability involved and that alone is inspirational. it's hard not to fret about the negative press but just keep doing what you do. I've been watching you since you had the mini-van and the crockpot. You look so much like my son, and I've shared some of your videos with him. I remember when you'd ask for patreon supporters so you didn't have to go work in the factory. I mention that history because I have watched you grow and develop. You have so much talent! from hiking to video editing to a wonderful sense of humor. I LOVE watching your videos and I always feel involved in your adventures. Honestly, besides the obvious like various hiking and feats you've conquered (some that I couldn't do because of how out of shape I am), the fact that your drone footage is amazing and your editing being top notch is a big part of why you get a bunch of viewers as well. It is very apparent that you put a lot of work into your channel. I don't see your channel ever truly dying out because of the variety of places you travel. A lot of traveling (out of van/truck) channels do not do those things simply because of limitations, whether it be having a pet or family, etc. Keep doing what you're doing bro and good luck to your future.

I don't care what videos you make, I'll always watch them. I moved into my van about 6 months ago because I had to. I had no money. I took what was in my apartment and moved it into my van. I had a couch, coffee table, laptop, some random shit and no room to move around in here. And it was getting depressing, winter was coming around soon and I had to do something. You inspired me to get my shit together and start making changes. I got a credit card and maxed it out insulating, plywood walls and flooring, building a platform bed, getting a dresser, curtain rod and curtains. etc. etc. All doing it as cheaply as possible. I have room now in my van, storage under my bed, 4 feet of room at the foot of my bed. it feels like a bedroom in here now. Just wanna say thankyou man. Keep doing what your doing. You're showing people an honest life of living in a van.
I echo many of the comments on here. I am an explorer at heart but physically cannot go the places you have taken us. I had no clue Utah had that many petroglyphs! and all different kinds !!! Also, you taught me how to make window shades that are fantastic in our Hiker Trailer. Your ability to get out of a jam or figure out workable solutions to issues is amazing. I look at your home on wheels and see amazing ingenuity and handiwork. The person who critiqued your work just wants to be entertained. I don't believe that's the focus of your channel and that is the very part that I like the most. Just realness, no scripting, no drama, amazing filming. Also, does anyone realize how many extra miles you walk and extra time it takes to position the camera, record content, then go back and collect it? There is so much work that goes into what you do, you deserve every penny you get from your supporters and views. There always seems to be a critic these days. I've watched Vancity Vanlife, Living the Van life, Trent and Allie, Nomadic Movement, Adventure Van man and a few others for years now. Of all these channels, by far the Foresty Forest channel is my favorite. And most of the other channels have evolved over time in a way I don't like and have become less interested in. Your channel has only gotten better. I love the "nature monk" in a van thing you have going on. It's the closest lifestyle I'm interested in for myself. Also, the ingenious build as you go philosophy you've adopted shows the very best way to create your van build. And the unique skills you have like sewing have opened my eyes up to expanding my own skillset. And although I'm old enough to be your dad, I really relate to how you got started by escaping a horrible factory or industrial type job and created your own lifestyle (something I did too many years ago, so it really resonates). I also love the humble, polite and super can-do canuck attitude. A better version of us Americans and a role model for us too on some level. Keep doing what you're doing. Going all reality TV with fake drama and contrived situations is not the answer. You could do real product reviews and endorsements and get paid for them. Be brutally honest so we know we can trust you. And just endorse stuff you honestly like and use. I for one would like to see more of that because I hike a lot and want to do more of it and hate buying expensive trendy garbage that doesn't work or falls apart too soon. Seems that would be a win-win for you. More content, income for you and valuable info for your viewers. Otherwise, I really like the winter van survival type videos. And I see the view counts on other creators that have done that. People seem to really enjoy the winter vanlife episodes. Hunkered down, the struggle, the cozy interior with woodstove and cooking. Something about it appeals to us on a primal level. I'd try and do more of those. Would also be cool to see some upgrades to the 4x4 van. Anyway Foresty, keep on keepin on. The hit piece videos are a testament to your success. Your subscriber count and views prove it.
@@TheBigExclusive Yeah he's pretty boring. I mean he's a DJ that knows how to work a crowd a little. But it wears thin over time. I have so much more in common with FF, he's the real deal in terms of wilderness van living.
I gotta be honest and say that I don't do the back country hiking and van life stuff nor am I super interested in either on a personal level but I enjoy watching you do and talk about that stuff. You're the rare kind of youtube creator that can bring someone like me into a topic that I'd never really follow and keep me interested. You're able to strike a good contrast between yourself and your hobby/lifestyle and watching your videos feels more like I get to come along for the ride rather than just sit and watch. Stay real and forget the naysayers.

Brother you and your videos give me peace and calm after dealing with the public all day. I also have such a fear of heights and you help me see the beauty that the mountains have to offer. Because you are who you are you took the time, but know, you and your work are so very much needed and appreciated. I feel really sad and somewhat annoyed when one person sets out to ruin something that thousands and thousands of other people really enjoy. I’m happy to watch you climb every mountain on this globe three times over because I really enjoy your content. I enjoy your van build, I enjoy the van breaking down (probably a lot more than you do) and I love the mountain views that you bring to us and that I, for one will never see in the same way because I’m scared of heights! Please don’t stop doing whatever you want to do and thousands of us will be there enjoying the journey.
As everyone else says - keep doing what you’re going and how you’re doing it - we love the hikes, cooks and repairs - live your content - been on board since your cycle tours so I’m not going anywhere- always a pleasure when a new vid drops - like an old friend coming to visit
Your channel is not only entertaining, but it has helped me deal with the pandemic in a very substantial way. I absolutely love your content and disagree completely with the criticism you mentioned. Your content is extremely relaxing and good natured and while I appreciate and enjoy your van life content, it would absolutely be dull without the hiking. I know the negative comments stick out significantly more than the good ones, but please do you best to ignore them. You are a truly genuine person and your fans, like myself, see that and support you for it.

I watch a SHIT-TON of RU-vid. There are VERY few channels that I click on IMMEDIATELY when I see a new vid; yours is one of them!! I Love your personality, hikes, beautiful scenery, amazing editing, cooking, the van, etc., etc. I sincerely feel like I'm with you on some of these hikes. Don't change a thing!!!!!

Your channel isn't a series of clickbait-turned-infomercial spam... it's your real life, the way you choose to live it, and I appreciate that. I agree, I am enjoying seeing you in the US. I look forward to your videos every week. Some van channels put out a video every day, I can see that being too much. Please keep just doing what you're doing and know that people who work those 8 to 5s watch your videos as an escape.
