There is a difference between resting and aging cigars! Resting is allowing a few days, or a few weeks, for your newly purchased cigars to acclimate to your humidor, and possibly get back into spec from transit or less than optimal storage at the retailer. Aging is a longer term, and the expectation of aging is to change the character of the cigar itself - draw, burn, taste and overall smoking experience can be significantly affected by aging.

LOL, “accidental aging” indeed. I stored a bunch of premium cigars, left the country, kept them humidified at 60, and covid happened. 3 1/2 years later I returned. The cigars were perfect and lovely.

All that info you gave was valuable for me. Please don't laugh at me, but I didn't know that I could keep cigars that long. Infact, I wouldn't purchase more than 4-5 at a time, worried about keeping them fresh. But through your channel and info, as well as a few others, I keep maybe 15-25 cigars on hand. I like looking in the humidor and deciding, "what it will it be today?" 🤭. But I never dreamed of keeping them for years, until now. Let me ask, cellophane or no cellophane? Thanks for your help and info. Going to test the "Short Stories" next.

Thanks for the comment. It's kind of mind blowing that a natural product can still be good, possibly better, when it is a year or two old.

I aged a bunch of cigars for 7-10 years. All the high quality sticks, like Fuente's, Cohiba's, Padron's, Opus X's, Oliva's aged excellent. It's all in the quality of the tobaccos. Stuff like Gurkha and other cheaper sticks lost all their flavor, now they are just drawer liners.

That is a great point - aging a bad cigar doesn't make it any better.

I have noticed a difference, I had ordered cigars online, let's say 5 cigar bundles of the same kind, the first time I bought cigars like that I received the package and quickly I smoked one, it wasn't that great and it was just like smoking just tobacco somewhat like a cigarette, I didn't notice no flavors but just like a lot of red pepper. I let the other 4 cigars in my tupperdor and I came back to this same brand from the 5 pack bundle like two weeks later and it was really good and had the flavors it was missing.

Everyone was freaking out during the 'rona. Smoking was discouraged. 2 week lower the curve my ass; It was 1 month.
