wish someone told me about vinegar and steel wool... now I am thinking of my friend whose house is "destroyed" in wildland fire. he was saying i want that gray wood... not want to wait for nature to age the wood (he had stored stacks of gray aged pine wood for his kitchen) but now don't have anything.. Well thanks to your technique, I can advise there is a quicker aging to gray wood appearance. (in fact I was the one who built his kitchen cabinets with aged wood. ) regardless, great restoration.
From a modern desk to something with character. Much more pleasing. I had a bit of a giggle when I saw you aging it by hitting it with a sock with metal screws. At school our desks were regularly carved using the points of our compasses and dividers in our geometry sets. When you can't understand the equations, switch off and get bored the wondering minds found something less constructive and more destructive to do. Of course heaven forbid you get caught. 😁😁😁😁😁
Turned out better than I thought it would, I can't figure out why you made the desk completely unusable, for a writing desk that is. I guess you could use it for a work desk, where it's going to become more banged up than usual. Still I would have absolutely chosen a better piece of wood for the center piece with those edges it's life is going to be fairly short.

Personal preference - I don’t like “restored” yet distressed items. If you’re going to restore something, restore it to its original form. I know the man has skills and he does good work, just my preference.
I share your opinion. It is interesting or what he does and without a doubt he puts all his efforts. But I prefer to update and bring to the present by restoring. In order to give it new life.
Hai lasciato pezzi rotti, con l'impiallacciatura sollevata, hai persino rimesso le viti tutte diverse e arrugginite. Poi vedo che rovini anche il piano nuovo e capisco che è semplicemente un modo per far passare come qualcosa di conservato e finto originale un pezzo d'epoca, magari trovi il pollo che se lo compra...
Mi spiace ma non c'è nessuna impiallacciatura, è tutto legno pieno. Le viti sono quelle originali di 2 tipi, non è un pezzo d'epoca o di valore. Ho voluto solo provare a invecchiare il legno su un pezzo vecchio. Il banco non è in vendita ma è per mia figlia. Un saluto🙋♂️
