When I paint my model trucks I put some flocking powder down in the bed then I paint over the powder with matte black and it gives a nice spray bed liner look!
Not a single scratch on "abandoned" toy car, huh? Plastic looks perfect. Nothing is brooken or missing...Almost as if no child ever played with it. You should just make videos how you "weather" them.

In truth, MoPar went south well before they built this "truck". It had no power and twisting the chassis in Drive. Expect to shelll out several hundred $$ just to make it home. Straight up garbage.
Your diecast was probably kept inside or out of the elements, what I am talking about, is a diecast that was exposed to the elements and rusted naturally, not a diecast that the rust or damage was self induced.
@19jarhead66 the diecast had heavily worn paint leaving exposed metal and was in my aunts home for a major part of those 15 years. She lives in a relatively humid area. Still didn't have visible rust when i did find it

Cool project.. Fyi.. First coat of any paint job should be a light, dusting of the paint ever so slightly. Second coat is heavier, third coat heavy. Then clear, if it's base/clear. If you made a little block sander, blocked it out and took your time painting it, could've turned out much batter. Still cool.. but half-effort.
When I was 5 I had one like that and i remember it was a extended cab red dodge pickup but problems happened between family and my dad took me and my brother to a different state. I never found out if I left it in Florida or if it's hidden in storage
