I’m actually a big fan of nine speeds. You’re definitely right about the Suntour forks. I saw some kind of thing on them how they were built and they do all kinds of testing and all to make sure they’re not gonna break.
Nice job! Looks as though the only Cues parts were the derailleur and cogset. I totally get keeping the cost down but I have yet to see a refurb video where someone does the whole groupset. Still, big upgrade for that bike.
I just picked up a 2010 Novara Ponderosa 29er in pretty good condition, mostly just needs a cleaning. I just started the video, but I'm excited to see what you share.
Im quite interested in those adpters you used to fit TA boost wheels into a non boost QR frame. i thought that those adapters only worked for odd TA sizes like 135x12/15 or 100x12/15
So it is what we all knew it would be. Remco can't keep up with Pog in the mountains, and neither can Ving. Ving's only chance was to out time trial Pog, but as we just saw, that didn't happen either. So this one is all over barring any crashes by Pog. He'll end up winning this one by at least 5 minutes, maybe closer to 10.
Very interesting thx! Informations on the fork and on the cues system very valuable ! And also on the budget! Surprised that the cues cogs are thicker (how fit the 11 cogs)?
I have a question; is that bike 135mm rear axle or 142mm? I've got an old Scott Aspen from 2005 which has 135mm rear axle _and_ disc brake mounts (but it's fitted with centre pull). I was thinking about refitting it with Shimano CUES, but also, now I see you've put hydraulic brakes on that bike, I was wondering if I actually can get hydraulic brakes for it, as well as CUES?
Warning: Retrogrouch rant approaching. I firmly believe bicycle design and quality peaked sometime in the early 1990's. I loathe aluminum frames, suspension forks and disc brakes. Rigid, triple butted chromoly frames and reliable drivetrains (like Shimano 7 or 8 speed setups) are my thing. Thanks for sharing though.
@Older_Mountain-goat_1984Don't bother. He is probably an old man, and when he was young he grows with those heavy unreliable bikes. I bet he also hate much older bikes (like those 1903 bikes used for tdf) because it's not from his era
