Great job restoring that knife but I have a tip when you heat treat try not to take the blade out of the liquid you are using and move the blade up and down the entire time the heat treat will be more even though the metal
It's not an old knife. Looks like purposely made rusted just to restore. Old rust will Bulge and have different layers of rust. Also the design of this knife doesn't look old.
Не реставратор, а волшебник! Где-то постоянно находит древние ножи покрытые слоем тысячелетней ржавчины. А под ржавчиной оказывается чистый и гладкий металл без раковин и других следов коррозии.. спуски вообще как вчера сделанные...
зато какая новаторская технология покраски,поливаешь изделия краской или лаком,а потом размазываешь кистью..малярный скотч на плоскогубцах,чтобы не царапали тоже шедевр.. А как размечает,приваривает шпильку,потом половину обрезает..учитесь,рукожопы,как надо работать...
notice how there are no handles to be seen on any of his knives -- that is because the handles are brand new and would be a lot harder to age than metal

Very nice,i wouldnt try using it though,it has that little extention on it rather than a full tang. Exellent job amazing how you restored a rusted out knife.
The nut is holding the knife together,it would fall apart without it ! Thats how they get around not using a full tang. He did a great job on that knife like object.
So you got a knife blank and rusted it the part where metal was missing most likely was where it was attached to a current that destroyed the steel there.
