Зібрати комплект прямо з коробки досить складно. Принаймні на два порядки важче деконструювати чужу погану роботу, а потім реконструювати її в правильній конфігурації з відповідними матеріалами. Тільки фахівець може зробити це правильно... Це великий привілей - навчатися у експерта. Дякую тобі! 👍👍👍

Дякую! Гасправді ця модель дуже цікава, це вже як археологічний артефакт. Вона була побудована до появи таких клеїв як ПВА і Суперклей. Також прийоми які використав майстер вражають. Новомодні моделісти так завзято борються побудувати максимально точну модель з високою деталізацією при чому натиснувши лише одну кнопку лазерного станка чи 3Д принтеру і фактично вже склеїти готовий пазл до купи... Що просто забули що таке моделізм, той справжній з початку 17 століття,, де треба руками щось зробити перш ніж приклеїти!

Olha, thank you for this unique video series. I never thought that I would learn as much or more from a video about DECONSTRUCTION of a model as opposed to construction. You make me very mindful of what type of adhesive for a given application. Your husband’s video on the unusual construction history of this model was equally informative. Never would have thought…. A major step is done! I have to say, that I underestimated the mast disassembly a lot. All those old glue etc. does not really make it easy. But the before / after shots clearly show your great job!

Me too! My plan was that I would disassemble the entire model in a month)))) and I haven't done half of it during this period...

Alas, that pair of cutters can now be relegated to the trash. Cutting wire for my models, I was horrified to see that the wires I had bought were really spring steel and had left plenty of notches in the cutting edges. I've lost three pairs of cutters that way. I hope you have better luck with your tools than I did. Thanks for posting.

Fabulous work ! But, and I may have missed it, how do you prepare and tie blocks? How do you build yards with all the fittings? Mounting blocks, Jack stays and the other tiny details? What clear finish? How do you get the beautiful blackish color on your wood work? Thanks for sharing your work!

Another great video! The discoloration of the wood from aging, will the pieces all need sanded down for staining again? Will the whole ship need done so the colors match? Or maybe another trick we can look forward to? 😊

The wood was tinted but after the ropes were glued - so here you can now see the original color of the wood...

I am restoring and modernizing this model. I feel like an archeologist - because I have already found 3 different layers (three different people) of the construction of this model))))))))))), so I will be the 4th one to touch this frigate...

Very interesting video. Instead of: "How to do it", I teach here "How not to do it". Today I learned: Be economical with glue and choose the screw eyes on an appropriate scale.

This is a very difficult question. The model has not been maintained for at least 20 years, based on the amount of dust on it. But the model may be much older...

Nice work Olha...restoration on a wooden model ship is not that easy because you don't know what the builder did. And you have to trace back his steps. How old is this model?

I don't know if you have seen the new limited edition HMS Victory expert kit approved by The Museum Royal Navy on the manufacturer's website OCCRE? It is very expensive but I must admit that it is very beautiful, even if I am not a fan of the Victory. I would love to know your opinion on this kit.

I haven't scaled the drawings yet, but visually they are to scale. The model is built on a large scale of 1:48...

Are the mast and yards made from pear wood?

Only caps and detailing on them are made from pear. I can't identify the wood of the masts themselves, but they are stained a boxwood color...

Are you going to strike down the topgallants & topmasts to "cure" the way they are fitted--even though, with all the glue, that's a risk?

Nothing can be impossible. This is the biggest advantage of wooden models. You can dismantle and rebuild parts just like on a real ship... To dismantle them, you have to literally "break" them or saw them and then drill them out of the caps... But they will remain as they are.
