In this video we show you the restoration of a steering wheel that has been badly damaged over time, they have tried to repair it in a bad way. We have bought a bespoke leather kit with black thread.
First we have removed the cover and we have cut the old leather without cutting the rubber that is underneath, then we have cleaned all the rubber and the plastic part of the airbag. We have placed double-sided tape to hold the steering wheel and we have no problems when stretching the thread. It starts from the lower part of the steering wheel, then we continue on the left part, then the right and finally the upper part. A piece of about 5 cm is sewn and we stretch the thread so that we do not have problems with it breaking. Once one side is sewn, we make 2 or 3 knots to prevent it from coming loose and we will burn it a little with a lighter. Then we will sew the inside part so that nothing moves and we will strain the front part through the holes there are. And it would be ready!
