RESTORE NO/LOW POWER OUTPUT IN A SMALL GENERATOR BY CONVERTING AVR TO CAPACITOR[Brushed Alternator] 

I have a kawasaki kg550b generator the brushless one now the problem is that it is producing low voltage so what could be the problem

@@bencoinstitute No I didn’t change the capacitor because i can’t find the same type of capacitors to replace with and the ones that came with the gene was written ( A 6.0uF+5 % Z SH w-F 2D ) and the other one is ( A 9.0uF +5 % Z SH W-F 0D)

Thanks a lot I sincerely appreciate your kind word However Not all Avr have an adjustable screw.... Yeah... Very correct as regard the rectifier...But you see if you go to our regular shops they wouldn't know it is called a rectifier..they call it a Diode with 4 leg(lolz)... Yeah... It isn't called i better pass my neighbor though....the Generator referred to i better pass my neighbor is the TG 950 gen or its equivalent.... Yeah,you are right as regards the voltage.... I should have somewhat explained a futher way of reducing it.... Since i proved that voltage increase was possible using this method i totally forgot to include a method of reducing the voltage of the generator...However there are other videos that can help out on reducing voltages....just scroll through the videos Thanks for the engagement

Yes! Was going to say 270v is incredibly high and would blow up stuff in the house, my generator powers up everything sufficiently in my house and i wouldn't have known it was putting out 180v to 190v as opposed to 220v if i didn't test it myself, the simple solution is to just adjust the voltage potentiometer on the avr, but this was an innovative solution regardless.

@@bencoinstitute examining physically, yes. But on a realistic note, I guess we can't possibly know if it has genuine copper coil or aluminium coil merely looking at the outer features of the generator (without unscrewing the alternator to check the coil).

Very true Hassan.... The practical was basically to show how to increase the voltage of a gen with a weak armature. However a slightly lower capacitor will give us a voltage in the range of 220-240v Reducing the speed of the gen will also give us a lower voltage.

Remove the capacitor and replace it. Probably it's dried out. If you have the means (capacitor tester) you can measure its capacitance before buying a new one.

@@bencoinstitute Not really. The sound changes but doesn't vibrate. UPS don't work on the generator and voltage fluctuate up and down. AVS goes from green to yellow & red depending on loading & unloading.

1.You can do that by decreasing the speed of the generator.... Go through our videos....a video teaches that appropriately 2.A smaller rated capacitor let's say 12uf v will fix it

@@bencoinstitute thanks a lot bro. It was bringing out 20v with several AVR. But this method using 24uf gave me 235v which is very OK. Pls I will love you to explain why the AVR are not working even though they worked when tested on other gen. Thanks once again, I really appreciate it

@@johnsimire7804 it's because the alternator is not working that's to say that It is burn inside and the resistance of the alternator is below 40% which can not bring 220v again.

A multimeter can be use to test for continuity on both ends of the rewinding of the armature.That is one of the best ways to determine if there is a breakage in any of the coils.Thanks for your expertise explanation.Please I am currently working on a generator with electrical faults.Sumec 2900.I tried your teaching and it didn't work.Though I suspect the avr because there is no sign of damage and the client told me a spare part seller replaced the avr. for him,not an engineer.On a closer look,the output terminals,which is positive and negative was joined together.I removed the stator and check the coils with a digital multimeter,all the four terminals were good.What is your suggestion? There was no insult against you personally whatsoever, although it is obvious that you misunderstood my explanation. On the contrary, if you would have done exactly what you proposed to me, that is, to read the entire comment of mine, you should have understood the meaning of my comment, which, I need to repeat, is: A) The capacitor at the DC side of the bridge is too small in terms of capacitance. B) the type of the capacitor used is improper. For high capacity you need electrolytic capacitor. Nevertheless this output capacitor does not affect the level of output voltage! It serves stability exclusively. C) The connection of the adjusting (non electrolytic, but, instead, MKP, like the one you used) capacitor should be in series with the field winding. D) The voltage adjustment can be done by selecting the proper capacitance there (experimentally). E) No matter the proper capacitor being selected and put there, the system still will not work properly because of lack of feedback to it. This is a simple open loop system and therefore is prone to various problems, which I explained before. F) The AVR is a closed loop system, which means that it permanently “sees” a sample of the output voltage (and frequency, for the high end units) and then adjusts the output accordingly and, above all, rapidly, while a capacitor alone cannot do that. Finally, instead of accusing your commentators, try to learn from those who tell you what the proper solution to a problem is, unless you believe that you are the unique expert on the planet. In such a case, just try to control your egoism. This will help you to keep learning new things, or correct false notions you may have so far. There is no other way. I hope you finally understood my sayings, wishing you all the best!
