After a complete overhaul at the JBS, the UP DDA40X, 6944, returns heading west on NS 11A. The folks at the JBS did a fantastic job making this unit shine. Filmed June 4, 2015 from Pandora Road bridge in Loyalhanna, PA. I didn't have much time to set up, and shooting westbound videos is tricky at this location, so apologies for the odd camera angle.

used to photograph the dda40x's in Cajon Pass, when I lived in southern California in the late 60's and through the 1970's. by 1980 there weren't many left running. numbered from 6900 to 6946, so only 47 were ever made

And a center depressed flatcar at the back. Man, what a find. I'm subscribing for sure. Hopefully it doesn't brake down or anything, so they won't have to use that flatcar for it. Great video!

Ok, giving you some history. The DDA40X was the LARGEST locomotive ever made in history. As time progressed, tracks got narrow, and technology got more advanced. They had to start the decommission of this successful locomotive. Only 13 remain to this day. Besides, the centennials don't have much of an agreement to the T-4 EPA standards. Only 1 is still in service, UP 6936. This video is 6944, as because it is preserved for a museum. Sorry, I just had to get to your dumbass comment so I can help you.

Dumbass. It's decommissioned, It was cosmetically restored. Only 6936 runs today.

People say this one wasnt running but it sounded like it was to me, its like the excuse for it not running is some government regulation if it that was the case southern pacific couldn't run theres, I seen one exactly the same as this only painted black and it runs as a regular freight train pulling coal cars.....it went threw southern IL not to long ago.

It’s not operational at all. Most of the preserved centennials were gutted of parts for other locomotives before being sent away to their respective homes.
