 Restoring an Abandoned House in the Bulgarian Mountains (No3 Forgotten Knowledge)
We purchased this property for just over £6000. We didn’t realise when we purchased it that it is a traditional period property from the Bulgarian Revival period. We are now very excited to restore it using original techniques and building materials.
Since purchasing this abandoned house earlier this year I have become fascinated by historic timber framed structures and traditional building techniques. We are only at the beginning of our journey but today we are looking at the use of linseed oil specifically for treating wood, the importance of line plaster to allow the wooden structure to breathe, and taking a look at the wattle and daube infills in this fascinating old property.
Jeff was a project manager in the building trade - with 40 years experience. He has renovated a number of old properties in England and now we have moved to Bulgaria!
