I had the same identical car my senior year high school. Always liked it. Traded it in 2000 for a 2000 grand prix GTP

(Evap leak), if problem is not the gas cap. Has to be one of 2 other things. Both really easy fixes on the Pontiac

She has some swirls. A good buff and polish will do wonders for that red paint. Good looking car man! Enjoy it!

I gad a very rare 1996 grand am GT FOUR DOOR. Low profile tires, etc. Loved it.

I got a 98 2.4 cylinder grand am here in Minnesota and love knowing that someone else has that A/C problem..

I have a Red 1997 4 door looks the same. Mine is a V6 , replaced the water pump. It Seems to have overheating problems. I replaced gage cluster when my gages stopped working.

Hey, the Body Control Cluster for that thing, I have to replace one. Does it have to come from the exact model car? Or could a 98 SE do, or a 97 or a 99?

Hey man. I just bought a 1998 Pontiac grand am gt with 57k miles on it. I was just curious what exactly is the difference between the SE and the GT, I assume it's just a general trim upgrade. Just curious if its anything else because I can only find information about the 5th gen grand ams.

Nice find!! What engine do you have? It's mainly a general trim upgrade, the only "performace" addon is a dual exhaust that gives each engine +5HP. A good resource to start with is the Grand Am Owners Clubs forums.

For sure. One is coming up soon actually. I just paid $300 for a paint correction and it literally transformed the car. Prolly upload the video within a couple weeks.

So quick question- when my 98 grand am makes squeaking noise, but thats no my question- while my ac is on it sounds like a high pitch qhen acceleration, but when ac is off its not as bad? Is it the compressor? Would a recharge work or should I replace the tensioner and and compressor?

Usually the air conditioner pump will shutdown when your low or out of refrigerant.. Could be the motor needs a little lubricant, or the serpentine belt is due for replacement. Mine was the belt. (I used to baby my car).
