In this video, I start the process of restoring an old snapper hi vac mower. The old leaky carburetor is replaced with a new one. I also clean up the valves. The project is nowhere near complete, but the mower is in a mechanically working condition. In fact, I used it to mow the lawn and it worked great.

I bought one of those new, minus the self propelled option in the 80's most expensive push mower i ever bought. Good job on the carb replacement.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, I hear they were the top of the line back in the day. And to think I got this one for $20 in quite good condition.

I didn't know an older 80's Snapper lawn mower equipped with an electronic safety sensor that detects a missing chute that keeps the mower from activating.

Yeah, it's just a simple kill switch, where a piece of metal completes the circuit and cut spark to the engine, same thing as the bail handle.

Since 1969, when that model began.
