we're back in DS1 babyyyyyyy! lots of DSRR progress going on and more videos to come. as mentioned and shown in the video, if you'd like to check out Topaz Labs suite of programs, you can find them here: topazlabs.com/ref/906/ if you purchase anything through that link, I make like 20-30% which is pretty huge, so full disclosure there. love you all.
This is amazing and seems like a ton of work! If I had to choose, I would say to port over the look of the armor from PTDE as closely as possible, while retaining all the high resolution detail you've added. I absolutely love the material response of the metal in PTDE. I think it looks the most like actual metal out of all 3 games.
I can only speak for myself but your videos are like comfort food. They're chill, super interesting, and very endearing to watch for those who love DS1 to death, like myself. Keep doing exactly what you're doing and people will support you!
amazing how you found that out, this upgrade looks great, I like both versions, but the more metallic one seems more fitting. Now the "original" looks pretty bad to me haha
The specular looks way better ✨ but the material is *brighter* now, it looks more like *Aluminium/Zink* metal rather than an actual rusty *Iron/Steel* Maybe you have to tweak down the albedo texture and make it darker (Assuming it's not PBR).
The amount of work you put into these games is amazing. I'm looking forward to my next playthrough of DS1 using your mods. As for inverting the specular map, that seems dangerous. Wouldn't that make the areas that are supposed to reflect the least amount of light reflect the most and vice versa? If the specularity is too high, it seems like lowering the brightness of specular map might be the way to go. Does that work?
How difficult would it be to change the bonfire back to the original, more fantasy look? That was one of my biggest disappointments with the remaster as well as the flat look of the environments. This mod is great, though, incredible work.
So this remaster did the reverse to the armor what the Demons Souls remake did to the environments (regarding the people who want more blank surfaces and spaces)
