Restoring Earl Dibbles old truck (Part 23) 

My name is Rand. I am 9 years old and I am a big fan. I live in Columbus, Georgia, but my Uncle Scott lives in Douglas, Georgia and he has a shop. I sure do wish you could bring that cool old truck to my uncle Scott’s shop and we could work on it together. Right now he is working on an old bronco and a square body Chevy, and lots of other things.

Markman Auto Parts in Southern, Illinois has a TON of old squares sitting in fields. My dad always had squares when I was growing up. Between growing up in Southern Illinois/Southern Indiana there are still tons of them around(even though they are pretty rusty 😂). I am so excited your truck is almost finished! It looks so good. I asked about it so many times on YeeYeeNation. I love the Yee Yee on the valve covers and on the interior. I just bought my dream truck in February(a 79 Chevy K10, 4 speed) and it needs so work, but it runs and drives! I hope I can restore it as good as yours someday Granger! You guys did such a good job on it. I hope to see it on many Smith videos!

The mirrors are on upside down, The big part is suppose to be on the top. That's why you can't see threw them.

Love the look of these old school trucks with the long bed. The AC is a nice QoL improvement, along those lines I'd also add some hidden speakers and a bluetooth receiver.

You guys started this series when I was a freshman in high school during all the covid issues and y’all were why I couldn’t focus on my school work because I was too busy watching these videos. I’m now a senior and only have two weeks left of school and am so glad to see you guys still making the videos and fixing up earls old truck. You guys are great

Beautiful truck! Buy the hood brace kit, the hoods are known to fold in half because of the hinges and springs for the hood.

I have used TRQ regulators from Amazon on several squarebody doors. $85 for both doors. BTW LMC is NOT what i would use either. Used hand crank assemblies are going to be bushing nightmares. Please send me a message with a list of What Do you need . God bless yall

Dude, I bought my uncles 1972 Monte Carlo off of him when he got leukemia in ‘17 I busted my butt trying to get it running, finally did and took him in a ride in it, cold chills, I did bruise the original motor but it was already hurt when I got it. I’m currently LS swapping it to make it a daily cruiser. I love watching these types of videos, been watching since day 1, the love and support you got from this build is insane. Can’t wait to see more on this build.

Love the old chev, not gonna lie im not a country fan but i am a country boy and my first truck in 2005 when i was 16 was a 76 chev c20 with a 4 speed and a 350 and the damn thing is still running and is our main farm truck, it hauls 220 gal of fuel, tools, air compressor etc. she’s wearing out but still keeps going, good old trucks.

I have been going fishing up in Dent Minnesota for some years now....which is about 80 miles N.E. of Fargo. About 50% of the farms up that way have car and boat boneyards on their front lawns, with AMAZING vintage rust sprouting up. I am 100% sure if you ran some adds in some local papers up that way ...east of Fargo.... looking for some stock doors and guts...or just a whole truck to pick up.. you'll get a good deal. Unfortunately.. there are some PoDunks up that may feel WEALTHY by all that iron collected on the front 40. ...gold in THEM THAR fields. lol

So cool that you're restoring the C10. I've been restoring my '81 Silverado. It's taken me a little longer because I have stage 4 colon cancer and I've had some severe side effects to the oral chemo pill treatment. Hopefully soon I'll be able to finish it

Love this truck. Been a hugeeee Granger Smith fan for years. Wished they could have kept the original carb instead of modernizing it with electronic fuel injection. I love how Granger tried to keep truck original. Sadly cuzz of shape it was in it won't be 100% original. Love this restoration they did. Surprised truck didn't come with ac in it when it was new. Must have been a option back in 73

Sweet. I taught my daughter to drive in a 66 GMC 3/4 ton with armstrong steering. I figured if she could master that she could drive anything. I was right she drove our motor home 600 miles at 15 1/2. God bless.

It looks awesome! I'm glad you kept certain parts of it completely original. Maybe I'm a softy, but to me, it was very moving seeing your kids walking in/on the same exact truckbed as you once did as a kid and then touching that original trim piece under the back window. If it had all been replaced with new then it just wouldn't be the same. I don't know, but I'm wondering if some of the old Chevy cars from back then have the same crank window mechanism. Back then there were a lot of interchangeable parts. I remember my grandparents having Cadillacs and my grandfather owned a paint and body shop, and when certain parts broke on their Cadillacs he would order the part but order it for a Chevy pickup because they were the same but the price was like twice as much if you ordered it for a Cadilac. lol. Some parts today are the same way, especially engine parts. Like certain parts for an Escalade 6.2lt engine versus a Chevy 2500 6.2lt engine. The main basic parts are the same but ordering them for the 6.2 in the Cadilac will cost more than the 6.2 in the truck. lol. Crazy but true.
