A new Trenton & Heath video restoring a pair of really old Nick's ... AND a new Nick's video, both on the same morning?? A sign of a great weekend ahead. Thanks for sharing your expert craftsmanship.

Nicks as always does a great job. That old boot was put together by someone who knew how! Props to both! I have an old pair of Whites that need a rebuild. I’m hoping Nicks will do it for me.

At best, this is a resto-mod. While I completely appreciate Nicks craftsmanship, and understanding that the customer likely asked for this, the loss of the original character in the vamp and heel counter is disappointing when they looked to be in good condition. A resole using the reclaimed brass nails or similar modern equivalents and construction would have kept the original makers methodsand materials intact while making them perfectly wearable. Even just replacing the leather sole with a rubber vibram replacement would have been more appropriate IMHO.

I like that wider gap in the vamp at the bottom of the eyelets. Looks like it wouldn't squeeze that part of the foot as much.

Incredible. Would love to see y'all highlight some more Canadian boot companies and designs. Along with any Scandinavian or Russian boot designs...

Love that sprung toe (I assume it’s an 11067 Last) and that unique heel counter. Dope rebuild!

Those were an interesting construction method. It's basically a Rapid Blake Stitch, but with nails instead of an insole stitch. I love vintage stuff like that.

What a wonderful job on the rebuild. Many more years for boots that are almost a hundred years old....

I love that the construction of the original boot is not that dissimilar to how you guys make your boots! Also, I recently heard you’re doing western boots, so I need more info! Lastly, would they be customizable in terms of fit and arch? Most boot companies don’t work for me these days, and I’m either uncomfortable or having to go custom.

Question: At 9:40, was that a "Celastic toe"? Comment(s): 1.) I know a guy up in BC who said he has 60yo PP corks (he bought them the year before he got married in 1963), you should get a minimum of 6 rebuilds out of them. His were done 8x. 2.) If you start nail down boots, when I get to Spokane in June, I'd definitely get my 2 pairs made that way.

Where the heck do the pointy ends of all those nails end up going?
@nicksboots
@nicksboots 2 месяца назад
The nails hit a metal plate on the bottom of the boot last. Once the nails hit this plate they are curled back into the leather. Once the last is taken out of the boots we check for any existing nail heads and place a leather liner over the area.

@@Ichiidino its still better to change only the sole of the boots. All those marks, cut and bruises had history. Its weathering not damage. If there isn't no big hole of tear. Dont scrap 90%! Plz.

yeah.... I'm thinking perhaps understanding the difference between a boot "rebuild" and a "resole" would go a long way in explaining what was done with these boots. If a customer, the owner of the boots, wishes them rebuilt and not just resoled then that is what is done. Actually pretty simple....
