Oh dear ! Rust treat first then primer suitable for bare / rusty metal then 2K epoxy resin enamel but only after brutal cleaning with alcohol and careful removal of any limescale residue - thin coats only ! make up the smallest quantity of paint as it becomes unworkable about 40 mins after you add the hardner to the paint and measure carefully or it won’t cure at all - it’s a slow process but the result will be spectacular

@@growinginfrance couldn’t help myself as I watched the episode I just wanted to shout a warning to you - heartbreaking to have to start again but it looks great in the end - if you tackle the inside the limescale removal needs to be careful and then alcohol to remove any traces of grease before 2K and thin coats or it runs - did a shower tray, sink and drainer in my vintage motorhome and it took forever to prep but so worth it for the results

If you have brass fixtures, it's probably better not to have silver toned feet. The white looks really good.

After the house tour for a break Jack should go back to the house now and again and do 1 room at a time! After renovating a 1960 ranch house let me tell u do 1 room at a time finish it completely before moving on to the next because if u skip around it seems it takes forever! So we started doing 1 room at a time so when we walked out we were DONE! Down to base boards shoe mold everything! 😊

Don't use scouring pad it will damage the smooth surface.. you can also soak in bath of vinegar and salt water over night.. my mum and dad where caretakers of an Historical house here in Australia and thats the method they used before using brass.. let it dry then buff with soft cloth .

The taps have come up amazing - good job!. Coat them in something before you fit them, or you'll be polishing them again shortly. Also, check the washers and seals before you fit them. And keep it up!

Thanks for such a lovely comment, I have never lived in Ireland, only visited. We only seem to go in winter, but even so, it is a really lovely country full of even lovelier people. My parents are vey happy there, although I would prefer they were in France with us!

Ah you need to seal the bath first, but I guess you know that now. (As a note it’s as easy as spraying on rust proof it seals and primes at the same time)

omg how crazy was that tub renewal! Did you ever figure out why it kept rusting on you?? Or did I miss that part lol It's looking so good, and the taps do, too!

The first time it rusted simply because it was left for a week in the rain, second time was because we painted the product we got for resurfacing straight on without an oil based primer. Lesson learnt!

Hello Everyone! I'm 69 YY and two marriages under my "experience" belt ...what I learned is that we should encourage and not critique/ad lib when someone else is doing the actual work. Some of us are passive while others are aggressive or a combination of both. Marriage is a beautiful thing! It must never be self-serving because resentment will build up and then pop its ugly head somewhere ....Work together, talk together, learn together and love together! 😍 P.S. No, I'm not looking for marriage #3. Happy with ME!🤣

I’m 71 married 52 years to my best friend. I agree with what you say here. I think these two remind me of us when we started renovating a disaster of a house when we were 23, but it anchored us. Thru good times and bad times, we had a base that started back then. I see that love and that base with Jack and Beka. They are such a lovely couple who obviously love each other and their life. A joy to watch❤❤❤

In years to come, you'll chuckle reminiscing about the rusty tub 😀 The channel "How to renovate a chateau without killing your partner' reglazed the inside of one of their tubs, and the channel "She Holds Dearly' very recently had a how to vid. Fingers crossed it's easy-peasy.
