I watch ask Jr always!! He's so honest, so educated in his replies and he has this way about how he answers things and things he's doing and what he, AMAZING AMY, & his amazing interaction with the precious girls.
I'll be honest with you, I've always been a big Dale Jr fan, but this clip right here drastically elevated him for me today.... What a down to earth, humble human being.... I met him once at a hobby shop about 20 minutes from Bristol Motor Speedway. It was the Spring of 2001, and the Nascar world was still numb.... He rode with Steve Park and his entourage, but he was very shy, not looking for attention, and he snuck away from everyone to smoke a cigarette next to the off road RC race track.... My favorite part of his career was his AC Delco #3 days in the Busch Series, that was an awesome time to be a Jr. fan, He owned em!
He represents Xfinity 100 percent, as well as Nascar. He's an Excellent owner for Jr Motorsports, lifts his drivers up & assists w/their learning, progress and everyone on their team. Kelly is also very great.. YOU ARE SUCH AN AMAZING person. HONESTY IS VERY IMPORTANT AND YOU STAND FOR. YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT MOVING DRIVERS IN AND STILL BE ABLE TO WISH THEM WELL FOR THEIR FUTURE.
Wow! Brings back some great memories! My cousin raced in mini stock during the years Jr . raced at myrtle Beach speedway. I was there that night he's talking about. Also watched Kelley race there too. Time flies,hard to believe it's been 30 years!😮
Juan Pablo Montoya is more accomplished than both across multiple disciplines of racing. Larson is obviously good in Cup and on dirt and he was competitive in Indy. Max obviously just does F1. Montoya has WON in F1, Indy, CART, IMSA, NASCAR. He hasn't just been competitive, he's won in every major series. He never dominated 1 series but he's won in every major series on planet Earth. I'll take a prime JPM.
I completely agree with you. People who choose one version of racing don’t have a clue what the wide world of motorsports is all about. I grew up watching Indycar, nascar and F1 and I agree Juan is VERY underrated in the long view of racing history. He could have been a multiple world champion in F1, if only he had been able to race in a different era. MSC era was what it was - and it had more to do with team building than anything else.
I still think the ride swap event between Juan and Jeff Gordon at Indianapolis was the key moment that led JPM to NASCAR. A lot of interesting data came out of that “test” but it goes to show that world class drivers are just that. Put them in any situation and they will work it out eventually. I wish we lived in a world like it was back in the 70s (without the deadly elements).
Everyone in "that building" should have the same perspective as you do Dale. You have grown into absolutely the best analyst of racing and the business of racing! Respect your perspectives as it always brings me back to true north!
So, I was at Caraway Speedway in 1978 if my memory serves me, anyhow it was the first time I saw Sr and he really impressed me from then on I really was a diehard fan. My question is, he was driving a #8 light blue Pontiac or Nova sponsored by WGHP TV Channel 8 I think. it has been a few years, anyway I have searched for decades for a picture or any info on that.. Great show really enjoyed that...
I was at Caraway a lot back in those days, and the only car I remember Sr. racing was a #8 Nova sponsored by Gary Hargett Racing Parts. Hayes Jewelers from Lexington was on the car at times, as well as The Hot Rod Barn. Not saying you’re wrong, just that I don’t recall that. Some great racing back then!
I can't believe that I just watched the interview with Scott Bloomquist and JR and he died that day I am so sad about that.. also you guys were all mentioned at the hall of fame dirt track induction..way up north.. not canada hey.. .. my friend was inducted and two other legends... these guys are the reason why I wanted to drive a super stock and did... I just don't have the money anymore and I know if I was able to hop in a owners car I'd be good to go but racing is dying up here.. and if we don't get more families involved in this lifestyle and hobby hibbing raceway is going to fizzle out.. I have been out there and the feeling of starting on the pole with 23 cars behind me on a 3/8 low banked flat dry track was AWESOME I got so excited about how good my car was setup that I jumped 3x then was put to the back 😂😂and came from dead last to 10th and there was a caution ⚠️ and my refreshed motor was smoking.. I didn't know that the valve covers were loose and oil was leaking enough to smoke every time I hit the corner so I pulled off and Ryan (hall of fame inducted driver the other day) tore my hood off in the pitt and screamed 😳 at me for pulling off..😂😂 points to the track kicks my car and off I went to the back AGAIN and made my way up to 12th and ran out of laps.... the memories of my dad driving and winning with my car and watching the big dogs like ryan kelly and Jay.. skullsky Lawrence copp larson schultz wood.. vessels hart Tyler Aho lots of great features and times
Speaking of watching race on our phones can we put some pressure on fox to improve their app to be close to peacock and usa? The fox app halfway works and you cant cast with it from everything ive seen.
Junebug. Can we Address the issue of cup car having to much corner Speed. I think they Need A more Narrow tire for less contact patch& less mechanical grip
There is NO CHANCE Red Bull would let Max get within 50 feet of a sprint car, much less drive one. I’d love to see it but I know they would not want Max running what to them is an incredibly risky car.
What do you think about NASCAR doing Austin so dirty I hate they should not have taken his points away I think that they always hold the two cry babies up they have done the same things
I think he (Austin) would’ve been fine if he just wrecked Joey, but wrecking the 11 too is what made NASCAR take a double look at it. There’s a video floating around that shows Joey, in his early days, not in cup or Xfinity over drive a corner to wreck the leader to win. So for him to call out Austin like he did wasn’t really fair since he has done the same.

Larson sounds pretty foolish. The simple fact is, Max is not allowed to drive any of those cars because of his contract. He is paid to drive a formula 1 car as a formula 1 champion. A few decades ago, a NASCAR champion like Kyle Larson wouldn't have been allowed to race those cars because, that driver would have been worth too much to the team and sponsor. The best they could do was run a few Busch or truck races. On the other hand, if Kyle Larson stopped everything he is doing with his career right now, to concentrate 100% on getting to formula 1, he might never get to race an F1 car. All this talk is just stupid. I think the fumes that he was sucking in at the chili bowl has rotted his brain. He used to be much more humbled than this. The reaction Max had these comments, was perfect.
Just wondering junior you recognize car. We'll make a decision to keep families off of pit road. While cars are still running and hot. What if? What if Joey lagano would have hit someone on Pitt road the other week? I think it's time to keep everybody off of pit road till the cars are completely off.
I dont know why people wait and watch this clip just for it to be in the whole podcast. Makes zero sense to me. You need that "ask jr" section before everything else and i don't get why. Id rather hear opinions on the last weeks race than some random question from some random person. 🤷
It’s stupid, Kyle just needs to stay in his lane n shut up. It’s simple you have guys like Pastrana, Stewart, and Tanner Faust driving in anything on wheels, it’s annoying! It takes away what people focus on. It doesn’t bring more attention to the other sport. It make is seem less. Yeah the kid is talented, but not the Goat!

Quit trying to hogg up all the glory when you work with others thousands/ millions of dollars. It’s not a sport like basketball or baseball or football that all you have to do is afford to buy a ball and go out there and learn and practice and become better at it to go pro. That’s what I meant by just be happy and consider yourself lucky to be doing something no everyone has access to. So quit making it seem like your the Sh$t (Kyle) that is.
