If you let your friend drive or work on your car, you take the risk of them crashing or destroying it as well. If one of my friends asked me to help work on their car, and I accidentally smashed something, I wouldn't pay. I'd feel bad, sure, but they ran the risk. Thats like expecting the employees at a supermarket to pay if they drop a pallet of juice.

Your best bet for your windscreen is auto glass When I cracked my f type windscreen I had a heated one and I got quoted £1200 for a replacement 😑
