I was under the impression that distilled water was the best because it will not cause rust or deposits in the water system. I also thought antifreeze was basically to keep your motor from freezing? Something I don't have to worry about living in Southern California.

Yeah, that’s why all the road kill cars had cooling issues cause water contains debris which screw up cooling systems

@@anthonymarino966 So you're saying don't use distilled water or even a coolant that is supposed to be diluted 50/50? Should I run straight coolant? Thanks!

@@VanHoutenBuilds There is also stuf that is cooland wihout water in it ! Saw that at Jay Leno car show !! it more exspensive but don't do anything anymore to the metal ! .. But normal coolant is also better than distilled water,

I have a 68 Mustang I've owned for 47 years. Early build, purchased new in December of 67. 289, automatic, power steering, Factory AC, Its been a reliable, and simple car to maintain and repair. I bought it in 1977 from the original owner. Diamond blue, 2 tone blue interior, white vinyl top. Lifelong Southern California car. So corrosion has never been an issue. Looks nearly new. It looks brand new inside, 5 years ago i had the interior completely redone with Factory correct materials and colors,, seats, carpet,, including the headliner, new dash pad, instrument cluster bezel, door panels,, arm rests, and all the interior metal repainted in correct color. The upholsterer did a fantastic job, materials purchased from California Mustang.. also he replaced the vynil top again, for the 5th time. What kind of issues have you had with your car??

Thanks for the support! Yeah it's hard to say when it comes to each project, b/c they are all in different shape as far as how much work they will require. You will have to figure out how much you are willing to spend to buy your project and how much you can afford to put into it. You will need to determine how much time you have to work on a project and how much of a project you want. I would recommend finding someone in your area who really knows classic cars or is a mechanic and knows what to look for. It helps to also buy a car that is already running and driving. That's half the battle. I would also keep watching people's youtube videos, and reading forums to get a better idea of what it takes. Facebook Mustang groups are also great places to ask knowledgeable people questions and find deals on projects that people are listing for sale. Hopefully that helps, best of luck!

Thanks for watching my restoration journey! Well it all depends on where you live. On the west coast, project cars tend to be a little more expensive, but usually a bit less rust b/c of the dry climate. If you're in the mid-west or the south, you can find a project car for much cheaper, although it will probably have more rust. You just have to be on the lookout for the right deal and know exactly what you want. Mine cost $5,900, then titling it in my name was another $800, and so far I've spent maybe around a $1K in parts and supplies. I've seen cars in better condition than mine go for less, you just have to be on the lookout. Took me 2 years of looking before I found the right car for me.

Thanks Ed! That's great you're restoring one too! I ended up having my original carb rebuilt and put that back on, but I'm having a lot of trouble with trying to figure out how to tune it. I do have the other chinese carb still and you'd be welcome to that! Are you in the LA area?

They are surprisingly light cars. I had the tow guy help me push it up the driveway once he put it down off the flatbed. Then I pushed it the rest of the way up my driveway by myself b/c it was flat. I would recommend recruiting 2 or 3 friends to help push steer and brake.

Yeah those are the hubcaps that came with it. Already got some 65 spinner caps for it!

I live in southern California, it rarely rains here. The car will be covered or garage kept. Are the caulk strips not what they used from the factory? I used those all around the tank.

Yeah, I’m aware. The 66 hub caps came with the car. I’m going to swap them out eventually as I’m more partial to the 65 hub caps!

Only what someone is willing to pay! I got it for $5,900. Also depends on where the car is located, there are cheaper one's in other parts of the country. I also passed on one that was in great shape at $4,300, except has some rust I didn't want to deal with. Also I was looking for something specific, like a real project to fully restore. Fully restored, probably $20K-$30K value

It could have, but I've been finding the remnants of the vinyl covering still in the trim!
