No need to wet sand until you get into the thousands of grit paper and are wet sanding paint to flatten it. just scuff those bars up with a scotch brite pad and prime them then sand the primer with 400 and paint it. Remember what the paint looks like wet is what it is going to look like dry. if you would have primed them with some self etching primer you could have painted 4 sets of them with 1 can of that paint. I love how the red stitching stayed red on the nets, it looks nice contrasted with the black.
