We've taken the bedroom all apart, and now we are at the stage in the home renovation when it's time to put it back together again. So, we show you how to finish out your drywall, how to repair a mantle and get it back in place, how to put your trim back in once you've put drywall up, and of course, how to sketch and paint your own custom mural.
Poppa Restoration is here making progress on the main bedroom closet system, and getting us kicked off on the next room that will be getting a face lift in this full house DIY extravaganza!

Nice about Papa Restoration, my Dad is my go to person for my remodeling needs in my 1904 folk Victorian Cottage. I pay him as well, it helps him, I get his company 😍 and I know the quality of his work.

Laine is so talented with painting! You should seriously consider a hand painted wallpaper line cause it would sell like crazy! (Obviously copies of your original designs cause that would be a lot of painting otherwise)

When you do the reveal, could you also show a close up of the baseboards and crown molding? I bought a Victorian cottage in March. We're removing "upgrades" done in the 60s and 70s by the previous owner. The family lived there since the 1960s and the owner did all the work himself. Thank you for showing how to make these homes comfortable and still keep the charm that attracted us in the first place

Enchanting!🧝‍♀️ I can only dream of spending my time in that bedroom! I knew you could paint, but I forgot! You two are magicians, but also true artists and craftsmen(crafts women???😉) My most favorite (addition, because the whole mural is my favorite) is the bird. But I’m partial to birds…bird art, bird prints (vintage most especially!) and even faux birds! Love love love! I love following you and Kevin more than you’ll ever know! I love your videos and I am in awe of the work you are doing preserving beautiful architecture and sharing your knowledge in the process. Hi friends! Of course the mural is beautiful and I love chalk painting. I have to vote for the butterfly as my favorite but it's all wonderful. Banana Cream! A perfect yellow that doesn't scream at you, it's very calming. The green bead board is to die for. What a great job Laine on the cutting the boards...I once helped with a building project and those saws are so scary! I cannot wait for the reveal to see all of Ken's, Laine's and Poppa Restoration's gorgeous work! 💚💜💙

Laine you may have Misophonia- it’s a real thing - I ought to know. It’s a sensitivity to certain sounds. And it’s horrid. According to my doctor the best thing to do is to expose yourself to the very horrible sounds that make you go nuts to desensitize you. For me it’s alarm clocks and beeps and a certain pitch of voice. I believe it means that you are exceptionally intelligent and sensitive so take it as a complement!

Hi ya'll, great job on the mural in that room. I really like the bird even though I voted for the bee ( I said the strawberry would stand out like a sore thumb vs the nectar gathering bee), and the bee fits in perfectly! Perhaps you can draw a mural in the kitchen or dining room using a strawberry plant and other herbs like lavender and purslane or fruit bowls with strawberry, blueberries and raspberries or blackberries. Can't wait for the reveal!

The smart kitties (mine) are laying on the glass coffee table, in front of a fan. Your Poppa is amazing. I can see from your painting style, that you have spent hours and hours looking at Victorian artwork and hand-painted wallpaper. Light, airy, and charming. The swallow is lovely, but the 'fur' on the bumble is adorable. I rarely see them here in my garden, just honeybees and butterflies. Your creative storage solutions are fantastic. One of the best things about our custom-built 1930s Spanish style house is the unusually large amount of storage space. The only weird thing is no 'coat closet' anywhere near the front door...it's two rooms back, in the hall behind the dining room. So...I put an Art Deco wardrobe I already had next to the front door for coats, umbrellas (that we hardly every use), etc. The curved top mimics the barrel ceiling in the room, and cat #2 likes to sleep up there. :)

There were no closets in the house I grew up in (in middle TN.) My paternal grandfather built the house for my grandmother, neither lived when I was finally born. My grandfather Journey built the wood frame house from used railroad lumber. A dirt basement housed a coal burning furnace, which had the coal door drop... I never had to feed that either (two older brothers shared that job.) No a/c ever, a tin roof, a bath added much later complete with a claw foot tub. Wish I had that now : ) A small attic housed a single window fan. We did have a parlor with a horsehair sofa! And an unusual fireplace that tricornered three rooms! A kerosene burner in the kitchen. That house got cold! Fond memories of a loving mother💕

My family turned the mess hall of an old boys camp into our home when I was a teenager. We worked at it every weeknight and weekend. I got to pick my own bedroom color and it was banana cream! Brings back some good memories.

Laine, you are so talented! That mural looks fantastic, and I can't wait to see the room reveal! My vote goes for the bee, because I love the way you made him fuzzy. I also have fibromyalgia, and my sensitivity to sound has definitely gotten worse over the years. Also, I would watch the heck out of Poppa Restoration's channel if he had one! I'd love to be able to build my own (little 1/2 story triangle) kneewall built-ins, but I've only done mouldings and trim before.

The swallow because I have them nesting in every outbuilding. I like the bee and butterfly, too, even though the swallow would take care of the butterfly in short order.
