The government is set to announce plans to ban children being taught about gender identity until the age of 13 as well as a total ban on teaching sex education to children before the age of 9.
Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire debate the proposed guidance and Ed Balls questions Headteacher Andrew O'Neill about his experience teaching sex education following possible new guidelines that would include plans to ban children from being taught about gender identity until the age of 13.

Me too. They tried introducing nonsense concepts to my 8 year old. To all parents: go to your child's school and tell them that they'll be prosecuted if they put these ideas in your child's head. It's what I did, and now all lessons of PHSE are passed through me before my daughter sees it.

Well, we didn't enter that territory until high school, in the UK and into our teens in General Science lessons so we were probably, about 14 or 15. Of course, many or most of us actually knew something already, sometimes very awkwardly. Eventually, we were shown a film as part of a lesson and our 'education' took it from there.

But the BBC claims to be unbiased and is publicly funded. Other organisations are privately funded and don't claim to be unbiased. That's the difference. People are forced to pay for the BBC even if they do not agree with the propaganda being pushed. Other organisations are paid by advertisers so just don't watch if you don't want to help them push their message.

There was an incident either last year, or the year before, of a support teacher shouting abuse at a pupil for not accepting pronouns. Luckily, the pupil recorded it, but the teacher wasn't even punished.

The onus of my point is the reaction of the supply teacher, who's stance on anyone not accepting such a pronoun should be verbally abused.

Not for responsible parents. My daughter doesn't have net access, or a phone, we don't have TV a home. I keep my child safe, and don't expect school to do the opposite. What other parents do is their concern, but I'll not have my children subjected to fifth. I've also been to my daughters school to discuss on several occasions. If anyone subjects my children to this filth then they'll soon be six feet under.

My kids don’t have a smart phone and they only have access to the internet if they use my computer. We do have a TV but myself and the Mrs can see exactly what is being watched. I do worry about what they are being taught at School. It only takes 1 woke teacher to subject the kids to their gender ideology. We have to be aware as parents and if you are vigilant about it, you will be able to control it for the most part.

In 2016 I was in year 6. Our head teacher at the time was a woman who was married to another woman, and had 2 kids. She didn’t throw it in our faces, we weren’t forced to be gay, she actually banned us from having “boyfriends and girlfriends”. We weren’t taught about gender, we weren’t taught about sexuality, we just did maths, English and the occasional humanity subject in the afternoon. One kid was spouting off about her being unnatural, obviously repeating something he’d heard at home. My straight (sad I have to clarify this) year 6 teacher heard of this, sat us down and told us that tolerance is a core British Value. She told us that at another school she taught at there was a child who had been adopted by 2 men out of foster care, she didn’t go into detail but she alluded to the fact that he had been mistreated by his biological parents. She told us that this boy was happy, safe and taken care of under his new father’s and that it isn’t that big of a deal. As far as I know, only 2 kids in our year of 80 pupils realised they were lgbt and came out. That’s it.

Being gay or trans is NOT the norm, as we all know (myself included as a gay person) we are the minority. Heterosexual and "cis" are the norm and hopefully will always remain that way. Why do we need to confuse a whole class of kids about a topic that will likely never effect them? If it comes up for a child, consult the parents and get the kid into therapy.

It doesn't really matter if it has been happening or not, (I discuss and ask my children if these types of things are taught in their school, and they are not at the moment) the fact that these rules are being put in place is going to stop it from happening.

The kids were left to woke teachers, it depended on how much wokeness would the teachers be willing to push on their kids…I have six kids, thanks God it’s still not that mad in Ireland…… if the parents don’t bother to buy blockers to social media and bad webpages it’s their responsibility… it should be an offence to allow a child on a device with zero internet safety on it… there are many ways how to fix this…. The children are not mentally mature to be taught about adult matters before a reasonable age and is definitely not bellow 9….. and the gender nonsense has reached such proportions that it is clear it’s social contagion spread by media so the school should not play along behind parents back… you need approval for trips and not for this?????

A very long time I assume.He hasn’t a clue how dangerous it is in schools and how much control has been lost from teachers AND the pupils.A lot of them have severe mental health problems and are so confused from the internet and what other pupils are telling them AND if a teacher is gay or non binary, they are biased and some do (not all) teach what THEY want!

This is not a manufactured issue, clearly these people have no idea the things teachers and outside providers are saying to the children in their care at present. My brother is a year 6 teacher and has been fighting this for years. The fact that these people know nothing about any of this is a disgrace. Also may I suggest the panel read Abigail Shrier’s Irreversible damage before they speak on the topic again. What a bunch of doughnuts.

@@awe633 Drag Queen Story Hour UK is a highly controversial organisation which sends drag queens in to read to children, including those of primary-school age. In 2023 a school in Derbyshire was been forced to cancel a themed non-uniform day called ‘Drag n’Rainbows’, after media pressure. New Mills School had originally encouraged its pupils to attend in drag on 16th June to mark Pride month.
