1600-Meter Running Test
The running test is one of the most crucial parts of the physical fitness test (PFT) during the Indian Army recruitment process. The timing and performance in this test directly affect a candidate's selection.
Timings and Groups:
Group I: Candidates who complete the 1600-meter run in 5 minutes 30 seconds or less are placed in this group. This is the most preferred group.
Group II: Candidates who finish the run between 5 minutes 31 seconds to 5 minutes 45 seconds fall into this group.
Each group is awarded marks based on the performance, with Group I generally receiving higher marks compared to Group II.
Tips for 1600-Meter Running:
Training Routine: Incorporate regular long-distance running and sprints. This helps in improving stamina and speed.
Warm-Up: Proper warm-up is essential before the run to avoid injury and perform better.
Pacing: Start at a consistent pace and try to accelerate in the final lap.
Breathing Technique: Practice controlled breathing to maintain oxygen flow during the run.
Hydration: Ensure you are well-hydrated but avoid drinking too much water just before the run.
