that's exactly what I was thinking, there are no red balloon mollies, those are just teacup platies, and the female was a swordtail, not a molly or platy.

@@tweetysworld52 it isnt, they are in different genus's. Swordtails and platies can interbreed as they both are in the Xiphophorus genus. They cant breed with mollies as the mollies are in the Poecilia genus. The female in this project is a platy

@@tweetysworld52 yes, kind of but they're very distant. Usually cousin species can hybridize, which isnt the case here. If you're talking about platies and swordtails, yes they're cousins. Not with mollies though

Correct. Molly and swordtail can not breed in a natural way with eachother. Their sexual organs are not compatible. And with fish like these, it takes longer than just 3 weeks. So, the maker of this video made a mistake. Every serious breeders of mollies and swordtails knows that this is impossible. And who knows, maybe that particular female was already storing sperm packets of a former mating. Always use virgin females for a breeding project. Such female livebearers can store sperm packets for over a year. And not just a couple of months what some believe it to be. And again, you can't crossbreed every ovoviviparous livebearer to just another ovoviviparous livebearer species. The sexual organs have to be compatible with another in order to have a natural mating.

My male swordtail try to mate my female molly i think that it’s possible... because i see it first hand but it won’t drop a fry cuz I hadn’t seen a high breed fry in my tank 😢 for a good 3 months

@@emelioomega12 even if it does happen the babies wouldnt be last long and they would be deformed
