America is so predictable... no more idol for me

SEROUSLY???? I stopped watching American Idol a few years ago but found Alejandro on youtube and just fell in love with Homie and his music. through most of the competition I thought Laine would win because he's "pretty" and predictably familiar to mainstream Americans but each week Alejandro was just magnificent and everyone loved his original music. I thought perhaps this time America would get it right but alas the usual cookie cutter albeit reasonably talented singer won instead. Homie regardless of this loss you will win in the long run with an album deal, incredible album sales and longevity in the music industry. You just keep doing you and know that you are loved and have made people fall in love with your music. Love from Australia. x

I don’t really watch this show, but saw Alejandro and was amazed by him, everything about him. From what I understand, correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the winner now have a contract/obligations with AI? And AI profits financially from their music? If this is the case, it’s better that Homie didn’t win, just for these reasons. I think Alejandro is waaaay more talented, he was, is, my favourite. But now he can go on to make his music his way without AI involvement. Look at Jennifer Hudson, I think she came in 7th? Something like that and Adam Lambert also came in second. They’re both crazy successful and I don’t have a clue who won instead of them. I can’t wait to hear more from Alejandro, the guy is brilliant. A true musical genius.

Alejandro is a unique and original artist. And Laine is great at performing hit songs. I feel like we’re ready for mainstream tv to support originality and authentic voices. To do it at the level ALejandro does- almost seems counter to the norm. Super psyched a part Asian guy won American Idol- he’s been so welcomed into the country fray because he’s so authentic as well and has a genuine swagger and presence, & a lovely family. Both deserved high accolades they’re both winners.

Haha Alejandro was stoked when they called Laine's name. He looked nervous hoping they wouldn't call his. Him losing is exactly what he needed so that he wouldn't be stuck under the idol contract and would instantly be fought over by huge labels. Best case scenario 👌🏼

ALEJANDRO DON'T GET DISCOURAGED YOU HAVE ALREADY made it too the top and will blow the music industry apart. i believe you study and play music for the sake of music and that is rare. No other constendant can match you. Once again karaoke wins over talent but this time is travesty. Alejandra is one of the most talented youth in a generation and anyone watching that show knows it. He songs, voice, guitar and piano skills have been analyzed by the experts that state he is a genius. Alendaro stood alone and played with his own heart and for the love of music. He played an original with a full orchestra that blew the other performances away yet still lost Lane was a good signer but had the advantage over all of the other contestants from. his experience from the 1st time he was on the show. He changed everything to prepare for the 2nd chance. The show set him up from his audition on. If anyone believes that audition was not staged or fake they need a reality check. This is another example of privilege over talent. Just when I thought America Idol finally broke the karaoke mode - slam. I am done with the show but will support Alejandro as he takes over the music world. Now, we will see how sincere the judges really were in what they told this amazing artist.

Alejandro made it worth watching. For him to lose to the little flashy boy from Louisiana is a joke. I’m glad I got to see double AA and will watch him every time I can. But now American Idol has proven forever how shallow and teeny bopper it is. I’ll never watch again.

I STOPPED watching America Idol too. To see Alejandro come in 2nd to me was daylight ROBBERY. If Idol can't appreciate original talent like Alejandro, then they don't deserve my attention. Laine is OK. Kinda a Elvis wannabe. No stand out performances. The only song I remember him doing was hey Jude. He's definitely not the best singer or performer. He had the prettiest face. Madison was pitchy and screetched a lot. I was not a fan. She seemed very phoney. Homie had a few stand out performances... Of the top three he Def should have won. But perhaps for him, losing was winning. Maddie from last year was a huge mistake. AI didn't even let her perform on the finale. She was pushed through by Katie's comments and Americans being followers, voted for her because Katie liked her for some reason. There really have been no big name star winners from American idol in years. The instant voting this year hurt the show tremendously. Huge mistake. The judges never give constructive criticism. It's all positive even when they suck. If Simon were on, he would have ripped apart Madison for being off key half the time, and would have told Laine he looked like a Elvis wannabe wedding singer. The show needs a major overhaul. The judges especially Katie, are worthless. She says the dumbest things, and makes the show feel uncomfortable with her antics and blantent flirting with male contestants. If lional said to female contestants what Katie does, he'd be fired immediately from the show. Get rid of the group rounds. Waste of time and doesn't do anyone any good. Is Homie ever going to join a group? Hell no. Making contestants sing Elton John songs, or Carrie underwood songs is stupid. Just let them sing what they want with guidance from the judges. The show is really gotten pretty dull. If Maddie had not been on the show last night, I wouldn't even have remembered her name. Who won the few years before her? Does anyone even remember?? This definitely was not the best year ever. Far from it. Not ghe worst either. But without Homie, it definitely would have been totally non eventful. Get new judges, stop the group rounds, judges be more critical of bad performances, and stop pushing for your favorites, and convincing the brainless masses that someone is good when they are not. Madison was really not good. Ever. Lacie was 100 times better than Madison. Laine will put out a single, and that will be the end of his career. Just like Maddie, and the several forgotten winners before her. The best again, did not win. Typical in America.

3rd thought....a master should not win the show where teens are the judges - he should only winn where masters and queens are sitting to give him the throne and that he already won and now he will play and sings for masters and queens who have deep appreciation for mastery.

I WANTED Alejandro but I understand why Laine won. I think it was because of Laine's song choices that the audience could alway get into the beat of them + kept them hopping. But AA's songs were great too + I predict he will go on to become a music legend make no mistake about it! Big difference between an entertainer + a musician. They are both one of a kind! Congrats to both!

I love Alejandro so much... I wanted him to win so badly, yet I think it might be the best for him not to be trapped on a Hollywood Records contract... I mean he's huge now, he might be able to negotiate a better contract for him on his own terms... So, I gotta say I'm kinda relieved he didn't win.... He won by getting the world to know him and fall in love with him, he already has enough amazing originals songs to release easily 2 albums… Trust me, record companies are fighting for him now… This is all for the best.
