During our Continental Divide Trail thruhike, we stop in town every 4-7 days to pick up the packages we mailed to ourselves, buy food, shower, do laundry, and charge our phones. #Shorts
not really! since the smell is made by bacteria in sweat, once the sweat is dried and the bacteria die off it won’t stink anymore. the new shoes probably still smell a little grody, but in that heat and sun I’m sure that’ll change quickly :p Fun fact: you can kill the bacteria quickly in winter by freezing them, so there are lots of people who stop their shoe stink by putting their sneakers in the freezer or outside on the porch!
@@TamarWise not terribly hard. Biggest factor in planning is getting a good ballpark of you average pace. Plus they probably regularly adjust their schedule when they hit a milestone like a fourth of their miles.
I love Pie Town NM. When I was younger my family would spend a week or two out there picking the pinion that fell from the pine trees. Beautiful out there
New Mexican native here & I’ve never been to Pie Town. Just learned a few months ago that my grandma’s family lived around there while she was growing up. I’d never heard of it before that. 😅 Maybe I need to be a tourist in my own state? 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Wait one fucking minute so you're telling me that you travel everywhere you go with your two legs??? your two Lamborghini feeties?? Wow... I need to try this. What's the point? Is it the walk or the views of nature... Like put me on. This is amazing.
Holly... what do you have to say about that comment? Lmao 400 miles, 400??? Haha taking a trip to Cleveland and back from my hometown is 400 miles 🤦🏻♂️
@@colenye4613 It is a really long walk. Mexico to Canada is nothing to laugh about it. It sure as hell isn't 400 and it sure as hell is 15k, but it's impressive
one time i met a through hiker at the end of the trail up near canada at ross lake. i was really cool hearing about their journey. my cousin also did the appalachian trail a couple years ago which is epic af
You guys are so inspiring! My sister and I always dreamt of doing the pct before life got in the way, but I hope to find a partner that is as in awe of the experience as me so I could not only get it done, but feel safe as well. I would be so scared to do it alone, tho the women who have done it are SO inspiring
Dude I’m in the same boat! I would love to do it solo but I think that would be dangerous. My dad is getting older and probably can’t do it with me, and my bf is NOT athletic or outdoorsy… and I don’t really know anyone else who may want to join me 😂
@@CheetoFireCat they said that theyve encountered bears a few times but they havent really had problems with animals because they leave the animals alone
Love their stuff. It would be rumored interesting if they hiked a trail without getting packages mailed to them from family members. Would love to see a more diverse perspective of hiking for people who don't have access to that kind of thing... probably not here but definitely something to think about
If you call ahead and ask, some PO’s will extent your hold. Not promised, but the post office I work at have done it occasionally for certain situations :)
Do you guys use actual maps or do you use your phones/gadgets to figure out where you're going/where you're at?? This is all so interesting 😍😍 you guys are awesome lol
They would buy the food at a corner shop when they stop in the towns they planned on their map. They could also eat what they have on them. They only mail themselves the dinners so they always have other food on them.
My parents drove cross country one summer when were were kids and we hiked a lot. I remember hiking a long day and devouring bologna and cheese sandwiches after we were done. I was wondering why they tasted so much better than the day before. My dad said everything tastes better after a long day working outdoors ..... So true!
You have to be real mindful of your food intake and calories burned and what not. They have things called zero days *i think* where you don't hike at all and stay in one place, maybe get a motel for the night. Trials usually close to town. Have to trust your instincts
They do very thorough research on everything before they head out. They actually only ship themselves the dinners so even if they miss the dinners they still have food on them from snacks or breakfast or lunches
Idk if you guys have addressed this...I've been following awhile and haven't seen it...could have missed it. You do not have 2 answer this....but, besides bear spray, do you all carry anything else for protection? Just curious how that would work going thru diff states and laws. I live in Pa and carry prob 75% of the time out of habit. Just curious. Love watching you guys!
It blows me away you guys don’t take the time to shower! That would be one of the biggest things for me, I’d want that shower soooo badly after weeks without! 😱
Please try lume!! Or just buy some mandelic acid powder (the active ingredient...its pretty inexpensive) and make scrub down wipes!! You can even use it for your face but you might need sunscreen. It is amazing and I use it everywhere and I used to smell soo bad and now I barely shower bc of a water main leak but I don't smell. And can go for days without wiping /showering
I know this is a very personal question and you don’t have to answer it but are you two intimate (meaning s*x) during the months out? Only asking cause I’m assuming it’s not easy to find a shower.
I don't know about these two hikers but most hikers plan in their itinerary what's called zero days. That's where you don't hike at all and stay in one place. Some are at motel, B&B, homes that cater to hikers near a trail, friend/family home, on-trail rest stop, and campsite. I've known couples to plan in intimacy time on those days depending on where the rest day is and how their body feels that day. Most tur-hikers don't plan more than one zero day at a time though so it's hard. Most forgo that activity for that period of time as hiking is hard on the body and sex is the least thing they are thinking about.
@@FizzyPopcorn the guy’s face is bright red. and they both look very weathered for their young age. not hating but i’m pretty sure they don’t bother that much, maybe relying on clothing and hats
Man I would just bring prisonstore food 😂bruh that shitll give u all the calories you need to be strong Nd get u thru bad days 😂👌plus it’s small so all of it can fit perfectly
Hej! Nice Videos! I just wonder if hiking through foreign regions isn't also about support those region by buying local. What are your thoughts about it?
