Resveratrol.
A molecule. A supplement. Resveratrol, popularized by Dr. David Sinclair, is one of the most controversial yet fascinating supplements and molecules for longevity and health.
This is the thing providing red wine its supposed health benefits.
Is it truly so? Or is the supplement a hoax?
It’s a serious question that could impact our long-term health, longevity, and our pockets - especially if we reach the wrong conclusions.
This series investigates whether Dr. David Sinclair’s conclusions on resveratrol were wrong, whether resveratrol helps your body stay young, and the secret mechanisms by which it works.
I hope you'll like it!

Following up on my last comment: Besides dose (low or high), it seems that the bioavailability of free resveratrol between rodents and humans needs to be taken into consideration to achieve the same benefits that have been found in the different studies. 38% bioavailability of Resveratrol in rodents, and < 1% in humans is a significant difference that, from my understanding, shouldn't be neglected, therefore needing a higher dose in humans to achieve a similar outcome to the ones referred in the studies.

I am convinced that centenarians do have a genetic component. My family, especially on my paternal side, has consistently long life spans. My father (born in 1917) lived to be almost 100, but so did my grandfather, and great grandfather. We have gone back to the 1700’s, and were shocked to see how long people in our family line lived. This was during a time when life expectancy was far less. I am hoping good genes, and following a good anti aging lifestyle will get me to 110-120. As I said, both my parent died shortly before 100, and both were active and sharp minded.

Did they eat a lot of sugar or processed foods or fast food? My guess, due to their ages, they did not. Which begs the question: Do you eat lots of sugar, processed foods or fast food? I think you need to recheck your calculations at 10:23 where the low dose is stated as 4.9gms/kg which would equate to 490gms for a 100kg (220lb) individual (4.9 x 100 = 490) so a 160lb person would need to be taking 350mgs/day to be on an equivalent low dose. I take 400mgs/day. Also, Resveratrol should be taken with something that has fat in it as it is fat soluble. David takes his with his morning yoghurt, whereas I take mine with my morning glass of Bonsoy soy milk. NMN on the other hand should be taken with water on an empty stomach as it is water soluble. I take 1000mgs of NMN with a glass of water first thing in the morning.

Transposing that to a human lifespan of 80 yrs, would be 1.8 yrs and 1.1 yrs gain in lifespan respectively. Just seems odd he that he would disregard all his own data and in fact from what you suggest earlier potentially shorten his life with a higher dose. Very odd need to clarify his exact reasons/arguments for personal/human 1000mg daily consumption. Great video but baffles me why Sinclair would ignore his own research if this is truly the case. Considering the studies on mices etc as well as your interpretation you would consider the optimal dose roughly around 100 mg Resveratrol a day for fat/unhealthy people or every 2nd day for healthy, normal people. Red wine has roughly around 1mg per glass. So putting them into the same group does not make sense to me since it has FAR LESS Resveratrol than all the other studies (were i think the lowest doeses were around 33mg).

It is simple. He (D.S.) is not wrong. He knows exactly how much is needed to prolong longevity, but selling much more is more important to him, to spread information.

I don’t believe Sinclair has any ongoing involvement in any company that produces Resveratrol. Stick with facts please
@emil8367

@@keng7758 this is only about his knowledge about it ;-) you don't believe, I believe in this case that he knew (he is a scientist, and he knows his job, the field which he works on for so many years, and also he knows how business works, how easy is to convince desperate people especially or people who want to live longer - read forever, who won't say this at loud of course and will deny). But I still like the idea of longevity and living for very, very long healthy :-). But, in general D.S. is OK, but I don't like these games related to business and when they don't say all information !

so just to confirm we’re supposed to take resveratrol every other day? And we have to go based off of the calculation provided to us for our body weight?

Didn't you already make a video talking about how low-dose cycled resveratrol is ideal? Around 100 mg daily, a few days on, a few days off. I recall you talking about how low-dose resveratrol restores senescent cells.

the only thing that sucks is that there are tons of companies out there making these products and its hard to say which one is the best, for Resveratrol, all i know is it should be white and crystilline, thats the only way you know its good supposeldy. my first product i bought from walmart (yeah i know dumb) was a freaking liquid, so now ive pulled out the shotgun and spent over $60 on 3 different brands to see which one meets those 2 criteria. ive tried looking online for reviews but this is all new to me so im not sure what websites to trust or what brands are the best since most people that take these suppliments dont actually know that much about what they are taking.

Pterostilbene is a more bioavailable stilbene that is fat soluble and has a longer half life in the body. It is highest in blueberries but potent in supplements. Resveratrol needs a certain amount of black pepper with it to increase its half life. I'm not sure if it can change from water soluble to fat soluble.

Great content, thanks for putting it together! What's your view on the bioavailability of resveratrol in mice vs humans? Could humans need a higher dose to factor in a possible lower bioavailability of resveratrol in humans, but still achieve similar results to the ones achieved with the mice on every other day feeding with low resveratrol?

Hello Rimon. What do you think about cycling resveratrol at comparatively lower doses to help with longevity and insulin levels i.e. 300 mg? You did mention cycling was used in the mouse studies. Furthermore, I am wondering if the bioavailability of resveratrol is different for mice as compared to humans?

I have downloaded the 10 Resveratrol Habits, which give very practical tips for cycling and Hit&Run supplementation. So far I have been using micronised resveratrol for its higher bioavailability, which I believe is what Sinclair used in his published research from which you derived the intermittent cycling human dose of about 100mg every other day. However, the suppliers mentioned in your habits have plant-based, non-micronised resveratrol. Does your recommended dosage apply to both forms of resveratrol, or should it be adjusted for the micronised form, and if so, what would you recommend?

Isn't resveratrol is quasi not absorbed by the body? In the specific study, isn't it the control that is short lived? If large doses of resveratrol lead to a lower lifespan, isn't it because some is absorved? My questions might be naive, but I prefer to make sure we get things right

I don't remember the percentage he said to use I am not totally sure but I think it was 4 to 1
