Always love the Between The Pipes boxes...even the retail isn't bad. I always love reading the back of the cards, I always learn something from them. #DRYDEN
Between the pipes sets are always a great rip! Love the goalie mojo! Nice to hit the unexpected ink of a goalie who got some NHL action! Thanks for the rip #Dryden
I miss having itg products. The best times i had ripping wax was when it was any itg product, hobby or arena version. Upper Deck hasn't done anything close to what itg did when they had the chl/ahl license. Just seeing all of those wicked old school masks in btp products was worth it.
Remembering a time when base was all you got and you were happy. Out of interest I’m in NY for a few days soon, where is the best place to go for cards. Prefer a selection of loose cards to pick up what I want. Cheers👍
I miss the days when cards were more descriptive and had more stats. Are there any modern sets that make an effort to have interesting info and stats on them?
Interesting story about Bower, guy i used to break with made some custom cards and sent them to him to sign. He got them back the day after Bower died meaning they were likely some of the last he ever signed. I have one of them around here somewhere #dryden
Okay damn, I finally took time to do my homework. Autos are 1:48 and Masks are 1:48, so you probably get either one of these out of an Arena box. I was off by a mile in my first comment.
Not editing has been great. Zero homework. Even though ITG is prob the easiest product to research. The worst is prob SPGU, or anything new UD w 8,00 parallels.
That's funny. I trust ppl who trust ppl. I don't trust ppl who don't. Perhaps you know this, but I was the one who introduced editing to box breaks, to underscore statistics and actual pack odds so ppl would be informed as opposed to gamble. Crunching the math, given all the discrepancies on the checklists, can be very time consuming, compared to the editing itself.
I understand your passion but the rturn is minimal like everthing. We have to not buy for away, then prices will drop. Seperate our needs from wants. We really don't need sports cards do we?
Worth a reply. It is not about "us" vs "them." It is precisely group-think that un-democratizes the hobby, whereby specific products and years spike. Yet. There are massive bargains up and down the hobby, with just a little bit of curiosity, research, and independent-mindedness. Notably by targeting cards directly on eBay with 100% certainty, or seasonal sales. But, you have to avoid buying into products, narratives, and rookies du-jour. Find your own space and passion. As for prices, cards are not investments. They are either gambling or sunk cost expenditures from ppl's *entertainment* budgets. Ppl do not recoup expenditures, just like when they see a live game. The game comes and goes; we do not control the outcome. The entire premise of my channel is that the dismal odds are knowable, and the money is gone. So, we should enjoy the *process* of box breaks, and whichever cards we land. All cards have merit to me. There is no trick to money. Money emanates from our life's work, and our capital gains. If we invest in actual investments not these volatile (mostly) small-ball penny stocks, wealth accrues. With wealth, we can purchase any goods (products) or services we desire, whether travel or - yes - hockey cards. Does anyone "need" anything? That is a metaphysical question. Another key tenet of my channel is I do not covet the cards, and certainly not high-end ones. Some of my favorite cards have zero monetary value. But, ppl do need communities. And, that is what cards are to most of us. They are our connection to our game and each other.
