This is part of the ShivWorks' ECQC Course 'Extreme Close Quarters Concepts' created and taught by Craig Douglas aka 'SouthNarc'. In this video, Craig Douglas teaches retention shooting from the high-pectoral index and puts retention shooting in real-world context. These concepts are tested on the range with live fire and then in hand-to-hand fights in a martial arms gym.

I do believe we ALL owe John a debt of gratitude for this one☝🏼. I honestly believe that this is the first ever “training of a trainer” video I’ve ever seen presented in such a clear and concise manner; and not just another trainers collaboration. Complete respect for the extreme amount of value provided. A HUGE thank you to everyone @ WPS which make this possible. God Bless you and your family Mr. Lovell ! 🙏🏼🇺🇸❤️

It’s a solid, trained shooter, taking pointers from a solid trained shooter without mouthing back to show viewers “I know” or “me too”. Brilliant content here.

One of the best “non-verbal” training tips in this entire video was about 21 minutes in. John’s reload after his second shot was actually an amazing FREE professional tip!! Watch John’s footwork and created space during his reload. Most folks, including myself, would probably simply reload while just standing still during the practice drill. I personally want to thank you, John, for showing us what a real life reload should look like if ever engaged in this type of self defense situation!! Many many thanks! God bless.

Basically, these idiots are, in my opinion, the offspring of Private SNAFU, just telling anyone and everyone anything they wanna know... What gets me is how the people they served with don't beat their fucking ass for breaking the vow of silence. Excellent training content and sequences; and adherence to the 'show / demo / direct' pattern. I have rarely seen better (and so carefully controlled) teaching than this on a complex and physical topic - and I have seen a lot, albeit not in a gun/range context. This video is an excellent example, not just in the specific range topic, but in teaching techniques pure and simple.

This is very serious. Very intense. Thank you for showing this. It kinda sucks that we have an industry to show us how to defend ourselves with force but thank God we still can. Incredible

Really impressed with the deliberate introduction of the skill through a series of escalating drills, always with SAFETY in mind. Looking forward to implementing this into my own training with an instructor / partner.

I picture Craig working on that with blood sweat and tears over the years, just to wrap it in a bow and hand it to us.

The best video I've seen so far about weapons retention. And I love the movement shown in this video and others by wps. Looking forward to practicing these things slowly and building up on them. Thank god for dry fire lol

That's the problem with CQC practice. A lot of the time you'll have to use your support and your weapon at the same time.
