For those asking about the Colonel Blade: (1) they are no longer in business and (2) this push dagger is better for striking due to the asymmetric design, filling of the hand, and size of the neck. If you have a colonel blade, enjoy it. It is an awesome blade. RIP colonel blade.

In my opinion the colonel has the advantage of better grip, the blade is more fixed when you hit, and due to the ring you cannot be disarmed too easily or let it loose, the rear can be used as a skullcrasher / glassbreaker, and it is also available as a folder. By the way, they are sold again now, seems that the company has restructured.

just like it doesn't mention private property either, yet now the alt-leftists are saying things like "They can violate your right to self-defense if they choose to on their own property because it's private property 🤪" ... in a different time those same leftists were the ones saying "They can ban blacks from their establishments if they want to because it's private property ..." nope, the 2nd Am doesn't have the words "except for on private property" or "except for in the following locations" .... so yes you can 100% legally and lawfully carry open or concealed into a damn police headquarters, and why not? after all you pay the rent for that police headquarters, the police don't.

I carried a Cold Steel push blade while in the military back in the 80's and then through 22 years of undercover work. My wife sewed the case to the inside of my jeans between the front and rear pocket on the off hand side. Reason being is if someone is fighting for your gun, your off hand is free to grab the knife and also if you are trying to control someone, usually your off hand is going to be more free to get to it. By having just a slit in my jeans (cause the case was inside) meant that it was way less visible. Also, this placed the blade handle below my waistline so that sitting in a vehicle for long periods of time it wasn't digging into my side on my waist because it was lower on the leg. It also allows a draw from sitting without having to drive your elbow up, it's just a quick pull to the rear.

*As stated, in many states, push daggers are specifically forbidden BUT there is also a non-lethal option called the Stinger, developed by Master at Arms James A Keating- it is a hard, unbreakable plastic device which also fits across the palm an protrudes between the fingers and concentrates all the force of a punch behind a small truncated cone. It is devastating. Before I retired I had bought one for all the female workers in our department since they can be carried anywhere and are instinctive. They run about ten dollars. Great video!!!*

I really like the design behind a his knifes so far. A stubby, short, knife with a really good comfortable handle gives you alot of control when its closer to your fingers. I love that clinch pick style too. i made a simular knife a long time ago for protection, but that handel looks way more comfortable then what i had. And i love how it has a sharp top for pulling back too. he really thought about that knife design it looks great!!

First rule of fighting with a push dagger...don't hit bone. I train jabs to the neck, hooks to the arm pit, liver, kidney, and abdomenal/sternum upper cuts with my offhand. I tend to think of my firearm first if I'm not clenched up, and using the blade as a distance tool is something I take from this video that I'll need to work on. I tend to practice with it as a tool when I'm already grappling and can't get to my firearm. More of a 'get off me' than a 'don't come near me' tool. Which is why I mainly go for areas with arteries, so my opponent weakens quickly and can't over power me by extending the fight duration. I carry a cold steel safekeeper II, have for years, at 9:00. I do like the asymmetric design; however, I prefer a thicker handle and rubberized grip in case my hands are wet/slick with blood. I'd love to see this offered with a bit thicker (not wider) palm swell, as I have fairly large hands, and thinner grips tend to not fit very well in my hand. I think the best way to describe it is that they tend to touch my fingers where the grooves are and a single line where it hits my palm, but fails to fill my entire fist and tends to slide because there are only a couple of points of contact, rather than fitting the entire palm. If that makes sense. I guess I could probably wrap the handle, but that is a huge issue I've seen with many push daggers. The thicker grip on the safekeeper II solves the issue completely and I don't get any kind of movement even when I hit something that immediately halts the penetration. I can't be the only one who notices this deficiency in push dagger design. Semper Fi

I added one of these to my EDC. I carry a folding knife that I use for all of the daily cutting tasks(opening boxes, cutting fishing line, etc.), but I wanted a dedicated fixed blade for self-defense. Finding knife training around here is tough, but there are boxing gyms abound. I opted for a trainer because after thinking about it good and hard, I realized I wanted a compliance tool to get a guy off me, but I didn't want that level of penetration. I theorize that the increased immediate pain of the trainer will allow me to create space more efficiently and give me the chance to change to a non-lethal(dog spray) or lethal(CCW) option as the situation requires.

Interesting how people get to different conclusions about the same stuff... I'm a civilian from a third-world country. As guns aren't "allowed" to us, the people, here, knives are somewhat common. Were more when I was young and liked to go around in the less savory places of the town looking for women and drinks... That got me somewhat experienced in knife fighting. Got into about a dozen of them. It was knife vs. knife. Thinking about what I felt I was lacking during the fights (and that almost cost my life sometimes), I got to a *very different* knife design as the ideal one for me: big, long ones, somewhat more specialized in thrusting. With this in mind I got to my 3 ideal models, which since I'm a collector anyways I bought over the Internet: an Arkansas toothpick with a 10" blade, a Gerber Mark II (6.5") and an Indian Karud (13"). Of all of the many scars I have from those fights, NONE came after I had those three. Also for my hands, build and style at least, the Karud proved absolutely superior to any others... (At the time all the martial arts experience I had was a BJJ purple belt)

Michael Shanahan I’m a big fan of the Kabar TDI. Full serration. My logic being cuts from serrated knives tend to be more immediately painful and likely to elicit a faster response from an assailant. A knife for me being mainly a tool to give me the space to draw my handgun. Worn at 12:00 I can reach it with either hand (conventional with left, reverse with right) and it can be used in a punching motion or for slashes.

big fan of Craig and also Tom Sotis. I like how as time has gone on, they have both simplified their systems by going back and constantly re-evaluating things and stripping things down, rather than tacking on more extraneous junk to stretch out their curriculum for the sake of dragging it out for money. I just wish I had as many opportunities to attend Craig's classes as I had with Tom's.

Thoughts on which blade - this push dagger or the clinch pick...I understand they both are very different but just interested to hear your thoughts around which one you would pick as part of your EDC?

I like that he brings it back to principles in ju-jitsu and boxing that are relatively easier to find training for around the world. I don’t know of a lot of knife fighting classes in the city I live in, but I train martial arts. So it is useful I can use the same/similar techniques and body position I can practice with live energy, then just do it with a knife if need me. In my mind that is the big advantage of the push dagger. You know how to throw a punch? You can use it.

It is not only that a push dagger utilizes common empty hand skills, it also has better angles and force transfer in clinch/infighting range than standard saber, hammer or icepick grip knives. When you don't have enough space or gravitational assistance to generate fast stabs, you need the heavy weight transfer inherent in the push daggers design. Lay on your back in bed and try to stab something with icepick, Sabre, and push dagger. The penetration results will show you why a pushdagger is so preferable as an anti- grapplers weapon.

I'm sold. I really like that knife design. It just makes more sense to me personally. Thanks for the lesson guys. Cheers from Texas.

Just had my buddy ask me about finding a video about "an old man talking about avoiding the fight". You mean like managing unknown contacts? "Yea!" He was talking about one of Craig's videos about MUC. I was like, "man he's not THAT old." LOL

@@footbalr074 I was going to work at a gun shop and then maybe open up my own business. But while I was in the middle of getting my degree, I was hired on at the post office and now have a great full time job, retirement and the whole nine yards. So I am doing it on the side right now, and once I get my shop setup I might do a little more.
