I have an RT29D which is like the RT81 but larger and cooler looking in my opinion. It also outputs 10 watts- actually. I've had it on a meter.

Nice demonstration, i have 2 rt10 s and like them, i changed the antennas to motorolas and they work better. Thanks for the Video.

One thing though, is that a Motorola can successfully decode a way way weaker signal than any Retevis. And obviously heavier duty, better quality control, etc. I for one am happy with the influx of cheap Chinese radios- 10-15 years ago I wouldn't have been able to get into DMR easily for under $100

So, a retevis rt81 and Motorola xpr7350 without being programmed, are compatible with one another?

nope, they need to be programmed on the same channel. motorola radios come with nothing programmed into them at all

If you listen to the rt81 transmitting in digital with an analog receiver does it sound like a buzz saw instead of the typical machine gun dmr sound? Maybe newer ones don't. Older ones do the Motorola beep when you turn them on as well

Regarding the RT81, I am wondering if you have also experienced issues with programming CTCSS/DCS tones with that radio. I’ve tried that multiple times but the radio doesn’t seem to transmit any of those tones.
