milan hofman a voltage controlled relay connects the car battery to the aux battery when engine is running for charging, a second relay disconnects the radios if the voltage Drops unter a certain value to protect the battery from damage. Search Amazon for battery Protection Relay. I have an old fire command vehicle with excatly this Equipment.
C. Unger how does this kope with the batery recovering from a (hevy) load? (Cut out on 10 volt, but when no load the batt recovers to 11.7 for example)
Cutoff is 10,8 Recovery is 12,2 for minimum 15 Seconds. When Engine is running Voltage is about 14,0 to 14,4. Alternator has 140 A so it Van charge Both batteries

Unfortunately, I was just using the TYT 390's own antenna and I was indoors, so not the best of working conditions from this end. Lewis is in an elevated position, I believe. The gentleman in North Wales was transmitting at 50W on a Yagi antenna, with the correct equipment and atmospheric conditions. Long distance communication is easily attained.
congrats Lewis on 10K great video on simplex DMR, wish there was more here in Texas, We tend to use Repeaters and hot spots here. Looked up where Werneth Low was on map, great view. also looked up on DMR repeater map www.cqdmrmap.com/ Do you use any of these DMR repeaters (Brand Meister), they are all around Manchester.
