Beautiful. I'm thrilled to hear someone else say they don't want a TV in their living room. So many of my friends and family can't understand why I don't want a gigantic TV on the wall. Nope, I want cozy and quiet.
I just viewed your last year living room tour. I love the sofa and love seat across from each other. The area with your round table was perfect. I agree with you I don’t like sofas against the wall and window.
I really like this arrangement of the living room. I like the way you used most of what you already have. The room looks more spacious yet still very cozy. I'm always rearranging and moving things around.
Ever so gorgeous red Hunter boots combined with a beautiful dress, you look amazing. Thank you Linda. First snow in Belgium, I'm glad a got my small garden ready for spring flowers.
Cream lamp shades would be beautiful, but I absolutely love the black. To me, hits of black, especially in a traditional space really helps to ground a room. You’re home is so stunning.
I love redecorating with what I have! Cream lamp shades may not only add more light to your already beautiful room but I think the contrast against your shutters and the color tie in with your sofas would be a stunner! 👍
Great re-design and repurposing. Mixing the white slipcovers with the green wicker gives this home a cozy, lived-in, vintage feel. Love the new rug. I love black shades, too, but switch some of them out for linen cream for spring/summer.
I like the new arrangement. Also like the black lampshade. Love having books and plants in my environment. The room looks very inviting and comfortable. It's interesting to me how other people can see things right in front of us that we can't see. How wonderful to have a friend who is an interior decorator. I also have a wicker chair in my living room I found in front of an antiques store. I painted it black. Stewart did an excellent job as always.
Love the new layout of your living room, very clever ! I would keep the black lampshades, they are a beautiful contrast, especially if you get the brass lamps. I do enjoy changing rooms around, it’s the best way to get a different look and feel without spending money. My husband calls me the cushion queen 😂 I have quite a collection and love changing them over with the different seasons. I also loved giving some to my daughter when she moved into her first house, and I can enjoy them at her place now 🥰
I loved the room both ways. You knew exactly how to create the curated look as opposed to a decorated look. I don’t know how you will be able to leave this house, but life goes on and we adapt 🥰
The new living room arrangement is gorgeous. The room really does appear to twice the size and yet there are so many places to sit and enjoy the space. It's so nice that you continue to enjoy your autumn decor. Makes sense to have some appreciation time and rest time following this holiday. Happy Thanksgiving!
Love what you did to the living space. I live in a 1930s house as well , such character and charm, i’am always rearranging and moving things around. My Hubs never does no what to expect when he comes home!
love that family photo ! we can put faces with her stories now, how nice. And spray enamel on a leaf ? how ingenius, and I am going to do this with my granddaughter, she picks out the most lovely and colorful leaves and just enjoys doing that. Great idea for a project to do together, thanks Linda for once again inspiring me !
I think the black shade is the perfect contrast to the alabaster lamp. I wouldn't change it. I believe every room should have something black in it. I love your videos sooooo much!
Oh, LInda, I enjoyed the tour of your living room. You asked if we like moving furniture around. Well, I love changing things up. It's exciting to me. I moved to this home in April of this year, so I'm still adjusting the placement of my furniture. In fact, I switched my living room and my dining room last week. I added a round table to my living room so it became a breakfast room and is between the dining room and the kitchen. The couch is like a banquette. With a living room, den, and sun room in this home, I found that I didn't make use of the living room at all. Now, I can eat breakfast there, play card games with family, and make crafts at the round table in the breakfast room. Thank you for all your videos. I've been a viewer for years.
Using old things in a new way is something I really enjoy. My Hubbs has a problem too. I am on my third set of white sofas, chairs for my living room in 40 years.
Love it, Linda! Redecorating that way is like shopping in your closet. I agree that that leaf is truly spectacular. If you're doing anything holiday with a woodsy vibe, I might consider leaving it out during Christmas, it's just too gorgeous 🧡
Linda you always look so sweet in your outfits. I like your style. And I love your large leaf. I’ve looked around my neighborhood but, can’t find one that unique. I hope you put it in a box to save for next year.
I think you’d end up liking the change to lighter colored lampshades. It brightens an area without taking away the warmth of a room❤️ I LOVE the leaf!!
Loved your living room before. Also that twisted root table was such a beautiful focal point from your kitchen. Obviously beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I liked the tables/chests on each side of the dining room archway. Ok, refreshing is good, and obviously we all do what gives us inspiration. Thought your library table with the fiddle-back chairs was such a wonderful touch. Well, I hope you are enjoying the newly configured space.
This was so fun to watch. I love how welcoming and warm your room is. I wanted to run to your upstairs and see what changes you have made there. I have rearranged furniture since I was a young girl. I remember moving furniture and decor around in my bedroom after my parents went to bed. It truly transforms a space. 😊
Your room looks so inviting! Love the changes. Thank you for letting us know that slip covers aren’t as easy to care for. I always wondered about that!
I often rearrange my furniture and after living with it a few days I always move it back. It never feels right like the original position did. It seems your first instinct are always the best. Love the rug.
I love what you've done. I, too, love my autumnal decor...I always mix my lighter/whiter pumpkins in with my Christmas decorations. I just can't seem to part with them unless forced to do so. I keep my orange pumpkins around until after the holidays, outside in and around the garden...some remain indoors. I just love mixing and matching autumn and Christmas. Your leaf sculpture is divine. I would definitely keep that INSIDE the living room along with Christmas. Beautiful!
Yes! I have hardly bought anything to my new house or new appartment. What I bought I bought vintage/old not new. I love all kind of design but most garden and interior design 🥰 New look is fab!! 😍
First of all, you look beautiful :) I love your house, in fact, unpopular opinion, I prefer home videos than garden ones. I think I watched the kitchen episode like 10 times😂 and to answer your question :Yes, I Iike rearranging my home. Recently my father in law moved in with us due to his poor health and we gave him my office since it is downstairs and I had to move my office upstairs. And that created a lot of change around the house
Love how you've moved the furniture around and the new rug! I move things around too !! It is fun and motivating! Your home is so pretty! And I do like your black lamp shades with the alabaster base! Don't change them! A bit of black in a room is very designing!
I love the way you use different pieces of furniture in your living room. I also like the way you incorporated dressers/chests in the living room. The colors in my home are chocolate, turquoise, and cream. I went with chocolate leather furniture and vibrant rugs. I just purchased a larger rug for the living room and now I'm looking for a cozy leather loveseat for my kitchen.
Well done on the redo! The flow around the furniture is wonderful. As much as I agree with your love of your dark lamp shades, I think some cream colored ones would help to open the space up. Since that was one of your objectives for the room, I agree with your designer friend on lightening them up.
Love rediscovering my fun and special things and moving them around. I, too, make vignettes. Also like to use objects in different , unexpected ways. So loved both parts of the home tour and will need to go back and watch the garden tour next. You are a wonderful tour guide.
Room looking good. I was told every room needs a piece of black no matter what size to ground it. I love the black lampshades, I have something similar. I think they should stay even if you only keep one!
I just adore your channel and always look forward to viewing the inside of your home as well as your garden! I just finished watching your living room makeover and if you value an honest opinion, here's mine for what it is worth! I don't like it, it's too busy, looks like you are storing furniture for a future use, not cohesive at all. I loved your corner windows with the round table, really accented that area, where will you put your Christmas tree now? I would have prefered keeping the couch and love seat together, perhaps an "L" shape, don't like the love seat shoved up against the wall at all. Hope you take this in the spirit it is given, your home is way too beautiful and if you are like me you want to showcase to it's best advantage!
I love the wicker with all the other decorated furniture,I really love all the cozy stuff that never matches. I say that cuz it shows style and not matchy, matchy. Your walls are my favorite Are they faux painted? You are everyone’s favorite because one does not have to buy everything new. You are excellent in teaching us how to combine everything! Thank you Linda, can’t wait to see the holiday stuff.
I think lighter shades with further brighten the space. We don't have a T.V. in our living room either. I love the new arrangement of furniture. I love moving things around the house.
Kudos to Stewart for the new holiday video intro. 🎄 The LR refresh is very nice. The white sofas and wicker makes the room light and inviting. 💚 Oh, I ordered your book last week.
I love the new living room re design. Bigger rug really anchors the spac and it all looks very inviting. I like black shades too, but also a mix. Happy Holidays -Enjoy!!!!!
As always Stewart has done such a terrific job on the intro graphics. I always look forward to the change in seasons to see what he comes up with for each season. 👍
The room looks great and balanced. I just replaced one of my lamp shades with a printed pleated shade. Ballard or Bunny Williams Home carries these shades. Very English and adds color and print to the room. One of my favorite things to do is rearrange furniture. Love the large rug! Ann in Tennessee
YES!!! I believe I read somewhere that one should change the room around every 5 years! I love putting some things up and getting other things out, change rooms even sometimes or the colors.
I love doing a deep clean moving everything out of my living room expect the large furniture and editing or adding from other rooms. I have several pillow covers that I change out too. I enjoyed your new arrangement and rug, very refreshing 😊
My husband has had to get used to me rearranging the furniture usually once or twice a year. It gives me such a mental lift and makes it all look fresh.
I thoroughly enjoy shopping my house and my large "stash" of home decor items in my basement, to keep everything looking new and fresh. I don't typically move a lot of furniture around as I'm limited with what can go where due to room and furniture size, but I keep my eye open for opportunities for smaller items such as side tables. Recently, after having a few rooms painted, I've looked at re-styling these rooms with new accessories and it's amazing how different and fresh everything looks now with new colors, new lights, curtains, and updated decor to change things up.
Linda, I'd keep that favorite leaf out during Christmas. It's too beautiful to put away. Insert some holly berries and/or other greenery using that leaf as a back drop.
You asked if we move things around in our homes: for me, I keep everything in its original location. I never have to look around for things, because I know exactly where everything is. This helps with my memory, as I get older. I use to decorate for every holiday, and loved doing so, but now I keep things in their place.
My version of de-cluttering uses a paper shredder. I was drowning in paper. It was so much fun getting rid of paper that didn't need to be kept anymore. I felt lighter and happier as that paper was cut into tiny squares.
Living room makeover is lovely, Linda. It’s always nice to change things around and give a room a fresh look especially when you can repurpose pieces and enjoy them in a different space. I’m with you on the black lampshades. They stand out rather than blending in. It’s interesting that your favorite fall decor is the beautiful folded sycamore leaf. I admired that one when you were working with them and spraying them. The green one on table near your husband’s reading chair stood out to me and I wished Stewart had focused on that and lingered there a bit longer. It’s a magnificent leaf and a perfect accompaniment for the little white pumpkin. I’ve gone back and looked at it several times. “Natures poetry”…….yes……exactly! Kudos to Stewart for the holiday intro. Took me by surprise when I heard the notes of the song instead of the peppy little notes of your usual intro. Very nice, Stewart.
Linda you are blessed with a sophisticated taste in decoration, the new look for sitting area just appeared to be rich and cozy in terms of furniture and walls. The most interesting is that each peace tells a story about dear friend or family so its an open book about your life stations. Maybe I would suggest to give your library shelves a white bleached colour to enlighten more the room and a connection with your white creamy sofas. Now the best favourate part for me, was that framed picture with husband and those gorgeous looking sons. Have a great Thanksgiving time. ❤
this looks so nice but I am dying to see the kitchen fireplace without that gorgeous barley twist table between your mom and pop chairs... that was such a warm cozy look... also cant imagine the bedroom without your green wicker sofa table, chair and little side table. Please show us the other rooms now.... also I love black lamp shades.. they are sophisticated and anchor a room.
Great new Christmas intro and absolutely love your dress! I can’t do much rearranging of furniture but do continually repurpose decor for each season. Thanks so much for the tour of your room, it looks wonderful!🇨🇦
I love to rearrange things around the house. But Over the years i found out that, as i like to do this, i give it a lot of though and planing. So every time i change ,i find myself going back to the first decision. For me this new placing is better for bigger gatherings. However, i prefer the first one because it gives you individual spaces for you and your husband to enjoy. Oh and i love your red/orange and black lamps. But as i do you can always Change a outlet bit for fun and the switch things back😀
Hello.!! Dear Linda.. Hope you had a beautiful Thanksgiving.!! Your new decor is very nice.. I specially like the table behind the sofa.. The chest underneath the window.. The black lamp shade is great.!! I do like it too. Hope this Christmas is filled with beautiful moments for you. Blessings to you and all in your family in this coming New Year. 💌💝😊💐
I’m a mixture of both. I love rearranging which I am doing right now but once I get things the way I want I usually keep it in place sometimes for years
I do not Love the black shades, also do not love the love seat off set, but I do Love all the pieces. But I do agree it is fun to move things around….I had a large house but have now downsized to a small cottage type….Looking so forward to my spring garden…with all your influence I planted about 55 new shrubs! Thanks Linda! Oh I also Love slip covers!
